Your heart raced as you tried to comprehend what was happening. As you tried to figure out how you got here. As you tried to understand why this was happening. You were always thought of as the reckless one, and that's saying something considering your brothers were Sam and Dean Winchester.
But, regardless of your reputation, you tried to be careful. You weren't being careful for yourself. After all, it was just a matter of time, just one mistake, and you would be dead. It was inevitable. You were being careful for your brothers. The three of you had already lost your mother. You were two years old when that happened and don't really remember her.
You remember she was beautiful, but anyone could tell that just by looking at a photo of her. Besides that, you didn't really get the chance to make many memories with her before the yellow-eyed demon came and started the fire that took her away from you and your brothers forever.
More recently, the three of you lost your father. Your father was a hard-ass who strongly believed in the phrase "my way or the highway". He taught you everything you and your brothers knew about hunting and didn't allow any mistakes. But, when it came down to it, family meant everything to him, and losing him was just as painful.
Family member after family member. Friend after friend. You and your brothers were always losing people. And you knew that if they lost you, it would send them over the edge. So you made sure you were careful. You did your best to not let any monster get the jump on you so you could keep on living until fate decided it was your turn to check out.
The problem was it had already been your time to check out. You remember it vividly. You were on a hunt with your brothers. A couple of years before this hunt, you had met and befriended a rebellious angel named Castiel who was also on the hunt with you.
The four of you were sent into a warehouse full of leviathan in an attempt to try and stop Dick Roman and his plans to take over humanity. You and Sam entered through the front of the warehouse, creating a distraction that would hopefully draw the attention of the leviathan; meanwhile, Castiel and Dean would sneak in through the back.
Armed as much as possible with Borax, the plan went perfectly. All of the leviathans had been killed and so you moved on to the next part of the plan - break into Dick Roman's office and find out what exactly he was planning.
So, you all made your way through the warehouse, searching for the office. Finally, you found it. You stood by the door while the three men searched the desk, cabinets, and bookcase. You heard a noise coming from the hall and quietly readied yourself before slowly peering out into the hall.
You looked to the left first. Nothing seemed out of place. "Y/N?" you heard Dean ask, wondering what you were doing. You then looked to the right, half-expecting something to be standing right behind you. But again, there was nothing.
You exhaled a breath you didn't know you had been holding and then turned back around and faced the room with all three men staring at you. You simply shrugged your shoulders and said, "I thought I heard something."
Then, right as you finished your statement, you felt a blinding pain in your neck. You heard all three men screaming out your name as your body hit the floor. Blood covered your neck and clothes, and through blurry vision, you could see none other than Dick Roman standing above you.
He was crying out in pain as Sam and Dean coated him in Borax. He quickly fled from the scene and Dean rushed to your side, gently cradling your head in his lap as he shouted at Cas to heal you. Sam dropped down next to you, holding your hand as he reassured you that you were going to be okay.
But, by the look on Cas' face, you were not going to be okay. "I can't heal her, Dean. Dick must have drawn angel warding while we were searching through his office. I'm powerless," Castiel explained.
"Well, then we'll get her outside, away from the warding," Dean stated, attempting to pick you up but that only made you scream out in pain. He carefully set you down and tears began flooding from both of your brother's eyes.
You placed a weak and shaky hand on Dean's cheek and softly said, "It's okay Dean. This was going to happen eventually." Dean shook his head and stated, "You're not dying." "I am. Your my big brother, Dean, and you've always protected me. You've always kept me safe. But, you couldn't have done it forever. You can't blame yourself for this. We were all in this together. You and Sam, you guys are indestructible. You'll be fine without me," you told them, your last words having more of an effect on them than you thought they would.
You attempted to say one final thing. You wanted to tell them how much you loved the both of them. But, your breath ran out before you could say another word, and you felt your life leave your body as darkness overtook you.
And now, here you were, standing in the middle of a snow-covered forest in the dark, shivering from the cold, trying to make out shapes using the light of the moon. All you kept asking yourself was, "How?" How were you back from the dead? What did your brothers do? They must have done something. You remember how Dean sold his soul for Sam. You prayed that neither of did something as stupid as that again. You thought about how Castiel raised Dean from Hell, and later raised Sam. It was possible he did the same for you. But, if that were the case, wouldn't you have a mark like Dean did? Or was your soul missing like Sam's?
You shook your head to try and get the negative thoughts out. Thinking about the worst-case scenario while you were in the middle of nowhere was the last thing you needed. You had no idea where you were or how to get out of the thick covering of trees, but using the tracking skills your father had taught you, you managed to find your way to a road.
You walked alongside the road, holding your arms as close as you could to your chest. You were outside in jeans and a tank top with snow falling down all around you. You eventually found a gas station, but it didn't look like anyone was there. You broke in and grabbed some water and began chugging it and then noticed a car outside. You ran out and hot-wired the car and as the engine roared to life, you chuckled to yourself.
You remembered Dean telling you that the exact same thing happened to him when he first was raised from Hell. You started driving and eventually made your way into a city. You found another gas station with a newspaper stand and read the headline. You were in Waynesburg, a small city near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. It was Christmas Eve.
You quickly searched the car you had taken and found some money in there. You went inside the gas station and looked around. You searched the shelves for three gifts - one for each of your boys. After all, tomorrow was Christmas and you didn't want to show up empty-handed.
Making your way to the front counter, you paid for the gas as well as the gifts and asked the woman who was behind the counter for a few different bags to put the gifts in. Then, you made your way to the car, pumped the gas, and began driving.
It was a long drive, about a day's worth, but you were determined to get back to your brothers and Castiel who was undoubtedly celebrating with them. About halfway through the drive, you suddenly remembered that one other person would probably be celebrating with them. Bobby! But you only had enough cash left for the remainder of the gas you would have to pay for. You felt bad but you would find a way to make it up to him.
At last, you had made it to the Bunker. You were exhausted but couldn't be more excited. You quickly parked your car and walked to the Bunker. You opened it with a loud creak and walked inside. Your footsteps echoed through the Bunker and you knew at this point that Sam and Dean would have to know that someone was in the Bunker.
Your suspicions were confirmed when you began descending the staircase. Sam and Dean were standing there with their guns at the ready while Castiel stood in front of them, carefully watching for any signs of danger.
But when the boys saw you, they all froze. You continued to walk down the stairs and smiled at them before saying, "Hi, guys." Dean moved as if to say something and you held your hand up to stop him. "Allow me," you stated.
You then walked over to the table behind them where various items had been laid out, including holy water and a silver knife. You grabbed the holy water and took a big drink of it, the water instantly refreshing you as you hadn't had much to drink. Then you grabbed the knife and slid it across your arm, watching the blood trickle down your arm for a moment before you placed the knife back down. You finished the remainder of the test you always did when you were unsure if someone was a monster or not and then looked at the boys.
Before you could say anything else, you were immediately engulfed in a tight hug. The figure was almost double your size and you knew it was Sam. "Hey Sammy, I missed you," you told him, hugging him back just as tight. When Sam released you, Castiel moved in for a hug. It was a little bit awkward, but nonetheless, it let you know that he cared about you.
When Castiel broke away from the hug, you looked at Dean expectantly, but he stayed still, skeptically looking at you. You jokingly rolled your eyes a little and walked over to him, pulling him into a hug. "It's me, Dean," you reassured him. His shoulders visibly relaxed as he let out a breath and wrapped his arms around you.
When the moment was over you pulled away, and with the smile never leaving your face, you calmly slapped each one of the boys on the arm. Hard enough to sting but not welt. "Now which one of you boys did something stupid?" you asked, your smile turning into a hard stare as your interrogation mode started to show.
"Dean and I tried, but no demon would deal. Cas?" Sam explained before focusing the attention to the angel standing next to you. "I wanted to raise you up as I did your brothers, but with everything going on in Heaven, there was no possible way for me to," Castiel stated.
"Wait, I don't understand. If it wasn't any of you boys, then how am I alive?" you asked and everyone looked bewildered as no one knew the answer. "Let's figure that out tomorrow, okay? Today is Christmas and you need some rest before you hunt down any other monsters," Dean instructed, making you nod your head.
You face lit back up, the smile returning, as you remembered the gifts. You quickly moved to get them and handed each one to Sam, Dean and Cas. As they opened their gifts, they were all incredibly happy and couldn't stop laughing and smiling.
After another moment, you asked, "Wait a second, where's Bobby?" As each one of the boy's facial expressions fell, you knew what had happened. "How did he die?" you asked, tears beginning to flood your own eyes.
"Dick Roman," Dean stated plainly with as much hatred as you felt in your own heart. But instead of yelling, or crying, you simply took a deep breath and returned the smile to your face. You weren't going to be upset. Not tonight. Tonight was its own miracle. You were back with your brothers. Back with your angelic best friend. Back with your family. And even though it hurt to celebrate without Bobby, since he was practically your father, you knew he was celebrating with all of you in spirit.
Hello my little monsters!
I didn't mean for this to have a Christmas vibe to it since it's still August but it did. Whoops. I hope you guys enjoyed it anyways :)
Always Keep Fighting!
~Caela~
