{13} Dean

Imagine: You are the one who makes the crossroads deal instead of Dean to save Sam. You go to Hell and four months later, you're back.

You have been hunting with the Winchesters for the past five years. You're dad needed help on a case and went to John and his son Dean for help. Your dad had been hoping that John's other son, Sam would be helping them, but John had informed the both of you that Sam wanted a normal life, so he was in college.

You related with Sam in a way, but you would never leave your family for the chance at a normal life, because with the life you were living, family is the only thing you have, which both John and Dean understood. You spent the next five days with the Winchesters, and Dean never stopped hitting on you, so you had your fun teasing him by flirting back but never letting it get too far.

You and the three men had finally found the damn thing you had spent the last week hunting, and on a mission to gank the bastard, your father was killed. John felt as though it was his fault, and Dean took a liking to you, so, with a little convincing, John took you in as his own.

A while later, you and Dean started working your own cases together, and John went missing, so you went to recruit Dean's little brother, Sam. Sam was shocked, to say the least, when he found out that you had been hunting with Dean and John, but you and Sam immediately hit it off. The entire time Sam was with you and Dean, the two of you fought like brother and sister, teased each other like so, and had inside jokes because you were secretly as much of a nerd as Sam was.

When Sam's girlfriend Jess died, you were the only one who really got through to Sam and helped him feel better. From that point on, you knew that you and Sam would be best friends forever, no matter what. Growing close to Sam also benefited your relationship with Dean. You and him had an on-going thing with each other.

Sam knew that the both of you were completely in love with each other, but you and Dean would never admit it. You would never start an actual relationship with each other either, because you had both seen what hunting does to families, and admitting your feelings makes them absolute. It makes the real. Which means that if one of you were to die, it would destroy the other one.

Fast forward to a year later when John dies and Sam's psychic powers grow. This was a hard time for you because you had to be there for both of the Winchester brothers without the other one knowing what each other were saying. You couldn't tell them how you felt because it would start a fight. But, you just wanted to help Sam, because psychic powers or not, he was still your family.

The night Sam was killed, you and Dean broke into pieces. Dean pushed Bobby away, but you wouldn't let him push you away. Which he both appreciated and regretted. Dean spent days with Sam's dead body, trying to figure out what to do. Then he told you he had a plan. Something that would bring Sam back from the dead.

You immediately asked if he meant selling his soul, and took his silence as a yes. This broke you even more. Losing Sam hurt like hell. But, losing Dean? It was unimaginable. And, there was only one way to stop Dean from making the deal. Make it first.

So, you lied to Dean and told him you need some air, and drove to the nearest crossroads. You buried the box and a minute later, a crossroads demon appeared. He was a nice-looking man, and he seemed pretty nice for a demon.

He knew exactly why you were there, and at first he was hesitant to make the deal, wanting to instead put Dean in Hell. But, you convinced him that watching you die would hurt both Dean and Sam more that any torture in Hell ever could. The demon liked that idea and was pretty quick to make the deal after that.

When you got back to the small place Dean and Sam were you saw Sam walking and breathing. Relief washed over every bone in your body as a smile came to Sam's face upon seeing you. He pulled you into the biggest hug ever and you tried to act innocent, asking, "What was that for?"

"I thought I was going to die, and I never got to say goodbye to you. Thank God Dean patched me up," Sam joked as he walked out of the small place. You turned to Dean who looked at you with anger on his face. "What the hell did you do?" he asked you. You ignored his question, instead questioning, "Why didn't you tell Sam that he was dead."

"Because he just got back, and I didn't want the first thing he heard to be that he was dead. Now what did you do?" Dean replied. You let out a sigh and told Dean, "You know." He immediately understood and let out a scoff. "No. No, Y/N, I can't believe you would be that stupid! You aren't supposed to live only another ten years. You're supposed to live a long life!" Dean responded.

You looked at him with sad eyes as you knew what you would have to tell him next. "Not ten years," you told Dean. "What?" he asked. "The demon didn't give me ten years, Dean," you admitted. "What the hell are you talking about? Tell me you have longer than five years," Dean stated, and you took a shaky breath in.

"Y/N," Dean started, his voice slightly breaking, "How long did the demon give you?" Dean questioned. "One year," you said basically above a whisper, and you watched as panic and fear filled every feature of Dean's face.

He sat down, unable to breath. "Dean," you started, but Sam walked in. "Hey guys, let's get out of here," Sam said, before seeing Dean's face. "Dean, are you alright?" Sam asked. Dean pulled himself together quickly and responded, "Peachy. Let's go."

You followed the brothers out the door and to the Impala. As you drove away from the small, abandoned town, you suddenly realized that this was your last year on Earth. You thought about all of the things you haven't done yet, and you promised yourself that you would make this last year count. But, unfortunately you couldn't do that.

Bobby found out that you sold your soul the minute he saw Sam walk into his house, and Sam found out shortly after. You didn't want them to find out but once they did you were hoping they would help make this year the best year of your life. But, instead, they spent hours and hours every day doing research and trying to find Lilith.

They couldn't accept the fact that in 12 months, you would be dead. During those 12 months, all you wanted to do was tell Dean you were in love with him, and tell Sam how he much meant to you. But, they never gave you the chance to.

Your final day came around, and honestly you were pissed. This year hadn't been your best, it had been the most stressful, most time-consuming. It had been the worst. So, when Sam and Dean came into your room telling you that you all had to leave to kill Lilith right away, you lost it.

"No! Will you two just stop for a second!" you yelled, forcing confused expressions to spread across both of their faces. "What do you mean, Y/N?" Sam asked. "All I wanted to do this year was be happy. And, all you guys have let me do is research and more research, and I did it because I knew that you guys needed me to. But, this is my last day on Earth. Chances are I am going to die today, and I am going to do something meaningful before I bite it. So, would you both just shut up, sit down and listen to me for two freaking minutes," you ranted.

Dean and Sam glanced at each other before shuffling into your room and sitting down at the end of your bed. "Okay, Y/N, we're listening," Dean told you with a small smile.

"Before I die, I need to tell you guys this. Sam, you mean everything to me. You are the closest thing I have to a brother. And, the reason I sold my soul in the first place was because I was already dead the moment I saw you. I love you," you told Sam, never breaking eye contact.

You took a shaky breath in and then continued, "Dean...I'm in love with you, I have been for so long. And, I needed you to know that. Because no torture in Hell can amount to the amount of torture I would be in if I never told you that."

Dean looked at you with complete sadness in his eyes, because he knew that you were going to die today. And just as he was about to tell you he felt the same way, Bobby came into the room. "It's now or never," he told you. You let out a small laugh as you cleared your throat. "Okay, let's go," you told him, standing up from your bed leaving a heartbroken Sam and Dean there as they mustered up enough strength to go kill Lilith.

You had to admit you guys had a good plan. Well it was good for a spur of the moment idea. The car ride to the location was filled with was silence, until you forced Sam and Dean to play and sing along to Bon Jovi. When you finally arrived to the place, you were ready. You put up a good fight, but no one could have known that Lilith would possess Ruby.

Dean and Sam had to watch as Lilith let the hellhound in. It ripped you to shreds in front of Sam and Dean, and dragged your soul down to Hell. The last thing you remember on Earth were Sam and Dean's sobbing pleads to stop. But the sobs were soon replaced with the screams of the souls being tortured in Hell.

Meanwhile on Earth

When Lilith' s demon ray had no effect of Sam, she smoked out of what once was Ruby's meatsuit, leaving Sam and Dean alone with your shredded corpse. Dean let tears freely fall from his face as he held what was left of your body in his lap.

Sam sat down next to your body holding his head in his hands as Bobby came into the room. He felt his heart shatter at seeing the dead body of the closest thing he had to a daughter.

The three of them spent a solid hour mourning the loss of someone they all loved greatly. Then, they knew it was time to give you a funeral. But, Dean refused to torch you. So, instead they buried you at a beautiful grave site.

Burying you murdered everything good in Dean, and he blamed it all on Sam. On one of his drunkest days, Sam tried to help Dean, but Dean snapped telling Sam, "It's all your fault she's dead."

"What?" Sam asked. "I have a freak demon for a brother. And, I have accepted that, I hate it, but I have accepted it. But, you would think that since you're half demon you would be strong enough to kill one guy," Dean explained.

"Dean," Sam started, hurt filling every crevice in his body. "If you had killed Jake like any other person would have, he never would have killed you, and Y/N would still be here. But, you didn't. You were too weak...," Dean trailed off, but before Sam could respond, Dean continued to say, "And I couldn't tell her. I was too scared to admit that I loved her. I knew she was going to die. And...I should have kissed her. She died thinking I didn't love her back."

Dean broke down into sobs as Sam tried to push away all the hurtful things Dean just told him and comfort his brother. "She knew that you loved her Dean," Sam told him. Anger filled Dean once again as he said in a dangerously low voice, "Get out, Sammy. I never ever want to see you again. And, if you ever come back, I will kill you."

Sam looked at the mess his brother had become before walking towards the door. He tried one last time, "Dean..." "Get out!" Dean screamed in response, and Sam left his brother behind and entered his own life of grief and guilt, because he knew it was his fault.

~4 months later~

You woke up in a dark box, your throat was dry and hoarse. You kicked open the top of the box and held your breath as dirt filled the box. You quickly struggled to climb up, and get to fresh air, and just as you were about to run out of breath, you reached sunlight.

You gasped sharply as air filled your lungs before pulling the rest of your body out of the ground. You took a look around the grave site, and noticed that it looked like a nuke went off there. You disregarded it, though, and started walking to God knows where.

You finally stumbled across an isolated gas station. You grabbed some necessary supplies, and made your way to Bobby's house. Bobby, of course, was skeptical of you and tried to kill you, but once you had proved you were really you, he had never been happier as he pulled you into a bone-crushing hug.

"It damn good to see you, Y/N," he told you. "You too, Bobby," you replied with a smile, before asking, "Where's Sammy and Dean?" "I don't know about Sam, but I can take you to Dean if you want. He's been cooped up in the same motel room for the past four months," Bobby replied. You nodded your head in response, and Bobby grabbed the keys to his car.

You and Bobby reached the motel within an hour. You hid on the side of the house by the door, preparing yourself as Bobby knocked on the door. A very hungover Dean opened it, and Bobby stated, "You look like crap." "What the hell are you doing here, Bobby?" Dean asked.

Bobby let out a sigh as he stepped away from the door and you stood in front of Dean. Dean felt tears sting his eyes as he looked at Bobby. "It's her, Dean. She's back," Bobby told Dean. But, he just looked at you with a straight face, unable to say anything.

You let out a small sigh before taking your silver knife and slicing your arm, and then you took some holy water and splashed some on your arm as well. "See? It's me," you told Dean, and a tear rolled down his cheek as he took a step forward and crashed his lips on yours.

You kissed back immediately and he pulled you closer to him, deepening the kiss. When you both pulled away, he rested his head against yours and told you, barely above a whisper, "I'm in love with you too." You smiled as you let out a small laugh, pulling Dean into another kiss that healed every crack in his heart.

After a few more moments, you asked, "Dean, where's Sammy?" He looked down, disappointed in himself as he told you, "When you died, it broke me. And I blamed it on Sam. I told him that he was a freak demon, and I kicked him out...I'm sorry, I couldn't handle your death, and I knew it was my fault. I couldn't protect you, and the guilt would have killed me, so I needed to blame it on someone else."

"It's okay," you replied, pulling him into a hug. "We need to go find him though," you told Dean, and he nodded his head, agreeing. Sam took Dean's car, so you all climbed into Bobby's truck. You sat in the middle of Bobby and Dean, and you rested your head on Dean's shoulder as you interlaced your fingers with his.

You finally felt complete, because the man you loved admitted he loved you back. Dean made a few phone calls and found out where Sam was staying, and the three of you arrived there pretty quickly. Before you went in though, you told Dean, "I want it to be a surprise. So, go in there, make amends, but don't tell him I'm back yet."

Dean nodded his head and pecked your lips before going into the motel room, leaving the door open, as you stayed out of sight. "Dean?" Sam asked. "Hiya, Sammy," Dean responded. "What are you doing here? You told me to stay away, and that's what I've been doing," Sam said.

"I was wrong. I was heartbroken and in a bad place. And I didn't mean what I said. I wouldn't have killed Jake either, and the fact that you didn't doesn't make you weak, it makes you strong. And, all the demon blood in the world couldn't make you less of my brother," Dean apologized.

Sam hesitated for a moment before throwing holy water on Dean's face. Dean let out a sigh as he spit out some of the water. "And this is why I hate chick-flick moments," Dean stated. Sam let our a chuckle as he responded, "Sorry, I just never would have expected you to come here, especially to apologize."

Dean nodded, understandingly and Sam asked, "Why did you come here? What made you change your mind?" Sam questioned. Dean let out a small sigh as you entered the room.

Sam's face fell as Dean turned to look at you. "She did," Dean told Sam and you gave Sam a sympathetic smile. Sam's breath hitched as he looked at Dean. "Don't worry, it's really her, I've already done the tests," Dean told his younger brother.

That was all the confirmation Sam needed. He walked over to you and swooped you into a huge hug. "Oh my God, don't ever leave us again," Sam told you, making you chuckle. "I'll do my best, Sammy," you replied, making him smile. He didn't want to let go, because he felt like if he did, you would disappear again, but, unfortunately he had to because he moose arms were squeezing the life out of you.

You, Sam, and Dean went outside and stood in front of the Imapla, but before you got in, you stopped the brothers. "Seeing you guys again has been more amazing that words could say. But, I need to ask. Which one of you was the idiot who saved me?" you asked them.

They looked at each other as Dean admitted, "I tried to, but no demon would deal." You let out a small sigh as you said, "Sam..." "It wasn't me," Sam denied. "It had to have been. Bobby wouldn't be that stupid," you replied.

"Y/N, I swear it wasn't me," Sam responded. "Who else could it have been?" you asked, as confusion spread across all of your faces. "I don't know. But whoever it was, I'm their number one fan, because they brought you back to me," Dean told you as he pulled you into a kiss that made you forgot all of your worries.

Sam cleared his throat, making you and Dean pull away from each other. "So, I guess you guys at together now," Sam said. You chuckled, and then looked at Dean. "I'm going to give you two a minute, but, it's about damn time," Sam told you, making you laugh, as he climbed into the back seat of the car, knowing you would want to sit by Dean.

"Dean, Sam has a point. Are we together, like actually together this time?" you asked Dean. "The only reason we weren't together before was because I didn't want to get too attached in case I lost you. Obviously, that didn't work. I am completely in love with you, and life is too short to not spend it being happy. I want to be with you, Y/N, so you tell me, are we together?" Dean responded.

You smiled softly as you placed your lips on his. After a moment you pulled away, and told Dean, "We're together. We are definitely together." A large grin spread across Dean's face as he pecked your lips before you both got into the car.

You sat close to Dean, holding his hand as you both sang along to his classic rock albums. Dean started driving with no destination in mind, and no one in the car minded because everything was right again. You were back, and you were happy. Everything that was once broken was now fixed.
