Summary: You had though you'd seen the last of those men. You had all but forgotten them, until they came knocking at your door. The favor they ask you throws you from your sheltered life and into the truth about the world you tried to avoid.
............................................................
You placed the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table, sitting on the couch. You had the next few days off, fully intending to spend those days watching movies and sitting around in sweatpants and a tank top. You grabbed the TV remote, reaching for your fluffy blanket. The knock at your front door interrupted your plans and you sighed. Pulling yourself off the couch you made your way across the living room and to your front door. When you saw who was on the other side, you immediately regretted not checking before you opened the door.
"Well you're not my pizza." You muttered.
You debated slamming the door in their faces but realized if they really wanted to they could kick it down. You stepped aside, making a dramatic motion for them to come in. They shuffled inside and you stood, almost on the other side of the room while they sat on the couch. The three of them seemed to have a silent conversation, before Sam turned to you.
"We just want to talk Y/N." He smiled kindly.
Apparently Sam was more emphatic then Dean or Cass, and they were going to let him do the talking. Your eyes wandered back over to Castiel's wings. The more you saw them the easier it was for you to ignore them. You averted your eyes and glanced around the room, trying to see if you could slip out if things went south.
"We need your help." Dean said.
That caught your attention quickly. You narrowed your eyes.
"My help? With what?"
When they didn't answer right away you guessed the answer for yourself.
"You need help finding that demon."
"Demons, we suspect there may be more than one now." Castiel said.
Your eyes widened and Dean glared at him.
"Cass, shut up." He whispered.
He turned to you, standing up and you held up a hand, making him pause mid step.
"I have a life, a life that doesn't involve, monsters, and angels, and demons." You said.
"You can see these things Y/N, see what they actually look like. How long do you think it is before they learn that? Once they do, they're going to want to kill you or use you." Dean warned.
Your chest felt tight, like you were going to have a panic attack. This was too much in such a short amount of time. Sam must have noticed the panic in your eyes because he stood up, taking a cautious step towards you.
"Can I have a water?"
He was trying to distract you but you weren't about to complain about that. You nodded slowly and made your way to the kitchen. Sam turned to Dean and Cass.
"Let me talk to her alone."
"Alone? Why?" Dean frowned.
"Well... I mean you're not exactly sensitive about these things Dean and Cass is a little to blunt." Sam sighed.
Dean opened his mouth to protest but instead sat back down, realizing Sam was right. Sam walked into your kitchen, your back to him as you filled a cup with water. You nearly screamed when turned around and saw him standing there. You were thankful not to spill anything on you.
"How the hell are you so quiet?" You mumbled.
Sam chuckled and took the glass from your hand, apologizing. You leaned against the counter, crossing your arms.
"We'll keep you safe Y/N."
You turned your head to look at him, your expression grim.
"My life's not going back to how it was is it?"
Sam stood beside you, giving you a look of regret, like he was remorseful for showing you this side of the world. You gave him a small smile, now trying to comfort him. You realized that was ridiculous, his height made you feel like an ant, and he had probably killed more monsters than you had ever seen. Yet here you were trying to comfort him.
"You can't promise me something won't happen to me, and even if you could, my life as I know it is over. You're asking me to leave behind everything I know." You sighed.
Sam shifted beside you and you ran a hand through your hair.
"We wouldn't be asking if it wasn't important, I'll try to keep you in the motel as much as I can, you won't have to help us hunt the demons." Sam assured you.
"But I will have to leave my home for a while won't I?"
His solemn expression was answer enough. You nodded slowly, staring at the floor.
"It's safer that way, but we won't force you to come with us."
You thought for a moment. People were dying, so many people. You suddenly wished you didn't care, because the next words out of your mouth meant there was no going back.
"I'll help."
Sam seemed shocked for a moment and then he smiled. You decided to change the subject before you lost your nerve.
"Well I guess we should pack."
"We?"
You laughed at Sam's questioning but amused look.
"Yes we, you talked me into this, so you get to help me pack." You smiled.
