Summary: You always saw strange things, things you dismissed as a trick of the mind. However you can't ignore or even try to explain the wings you see on one of the men who strolled into your little nothing town.
.....................................................................
You watched the 'agents' in the booth across from yours. You suspected they weren't really with the FBI when you caught a glimpse of what was in their trunk. They talked in hushed whispers, talking about the recent murders in your town. You wanted to ignore them, let them go about their business, and you would have, if it wasn't for the guy in the trench coat.
He had wings.
You realized you were staring for longer than what could be considered normal but you couldn't help it. He had actual wings and no one seemed notice. There was no way you could explain this away as a trick of the light or your mind messing with you. You realized to late that one of the men had caught you staring. You threw money on the table and grabbed your stuff hurrying out the door. You saw them stand out of the corner of your eye.
'Stupid, you glance and then look away, you don't keep staring!' You scolded yourself.
"Hey!"
You quickened your pace, ignoring whoever was calling out to you. You let out a shriek when you ran into someone's chest. You probably would have fallen back if it wasn't for the hands grabbing your shoulders.
"Not so fast sweetheart, we got some questions."
'This is it. This is how I die.' You thought bitterly.
You glanced at him before looking back at the man in front of you. Fear seemed to grab at you, but now that you were closer to the man with the wings, you couldn't seem to focus on much else.
"You... you have wings..." You muttered quietly.
The three of them exchanged surprised looks and you wondered if it would have been better for you to keep your mouth shut.
"Ignore me, I'm high, probably just seeing things." You lied quickly.
Their expressions told you they didn't believe a word you just said. You looked around, maybe you could scream for help.
"You can see my wings?"
The voice snapped you from your thoughts and you looked at the man in the trench coat. You nodded meekly and the taller man seemed to take pity on you.
"I'm Sam, this my brother Dean, and our friend Castiel, he's an-"
"Angel... yeah I got that... I'm Y/N..."
You noticed Dean chuckle slightly and that calmed your nerves a bit. You still didn't trust these men though, why would you? You didn't know them.
You stepped away from them slightly.
"Those people... they didn't die in accidents did they?"
"No, a demon killed them." Castiel said bluntly.
Your eyes widened, thousands of questions ran through your mind. Whenever you went to ask them though, the words seemed to die on your tongue.
"Cass! You don't just drop that on her!" Sam snapped.
"No point in beating around the bush Sammy." Dean shrugged.
"Demons, you mean those people with the black eyes and the smoke?"
You really needed to learn when to shut up, because now they were looking at you with mixture of surprise and suspicion. You suddenly desperately wanted to go back to a few minutes ago, when you just thought there was something wrong with you. When angels and demons were just stories.
"You are able to see things for how they are." Castiel said.
How they are? What the hell was that suppose to mean?
You thought back to everything you saw, or thought you saw. Those people with the yellow eyes and claws, the people whose skin looked rotted and decayed. The way no one else seemed to notice anything out of the ordinary. Your expression went blank and your blood ran cold. You backed away from them, shaking your head.
"This is crazy."
They ceased talking, turning to face you. Sam took a step forward but you held up a hand.
"Y/N wait-"
You turned around waving them off, as you hurried down the street.
"Good luck with this... demon... I have a life to get back to." You said.
Dean took a step forward but Castiel grabbed his arm.
"Let her go, this must be a very troubling discovery for her."
They watched you disappear around a corner. You hurried to your house, fumbling with the keys. Once you finally managed to unlock your door, you hurried inside slamming it shut behind you. For a moment you just leaned against it, catching your breath and calming yourself. You slid the deadbolt into place and although you knew it was foolish, you felt safer.
"I need a drink." You muttered.
