Monster ~ Bela's Review

Title: Monster (A Supernatural Fanfiction) [1]

Author: musicdreams31

Summary:

"Maybe you are a monster, but so am I and so is Dean. Maybe every human or every living being is a monster. But who ever said that monsters can't save the world from a bunch of Biblical douchebags? We may be monsters but the three of us? The three of us will save the world, Sam, and we'll do it knowing we're heroes no matter how Heaven, Hell, or Humanity looks at us. Just because you may be a monster does not mean that you are forced to be evil as we are depicted. I don't believe that we have a destiny and even if we do, I don't believe we have to follow it."

The Apocalypse is coming and the Universe's greatest weapon is a young, broken, Athiest living in a crap ass apartment in Knoxville, Tennessee studying to be a therapist.

When Sam and Dean Winchester stumble upon Cassandra Moore for a run-of-the-mill demon case, they find out that she's much more than just a neighbor to the possessed. After realizing just what this college student is capable of, they're forced to whisk her away from her life of textbooks and simplicity and throw her head first into the deep end of the supernatural world.

Scared and not knowing a thing about the upcoming Apocalypse, Cassandra is forced to push aside her Atheistic beliefs and discover how to use her powers fast before Lucifer roasts the whole planet.

With her archangel father on her ass, three sides fighting for her loyalty, a complicated relationship with one Winchester brother, a moody angel as her coach, and a whole novel of mental illnesses, Cassandra struggles to adjust in her new life as the long lost daughter of Michael. Can she get her powers up and working before Lucifer wrecks havoc on all of Humanity; or will Cassandra fail the human race as the world's savior?

Opinion:

Back to the reviews! Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving break. I found this story right off the bat, and it looks incredibly promising. There are mentions of mental illnesses, self-harm, and depression, among other things. Please know this before you choose to read it. It is also mentioned in the intro, and I thank the author for that. Now, onto the good stuff!

This lovely woman plays Cassandra Moore, Michael's (yes the archangel) daughter. This story is set in season 5, where angels were the biggest jerks and Lucifer rose from the cage. Honestly, the second chapter made so much sense. It had the most real reaction to huge news like that I've ever seen in fanfics. I loved it. It feels real. Most of it. The action, the dialogue, the confusion and heartbreak, that moment where it clicks in your mind once you realize what's happening in chapter two...No spoilers!

I loved the way this story flowed. It was smooth. Organic. It felt like I was watching the show.

On the flip side, there were a couple of events of the brothers being out of character. Instead of Sam breaking into her room and stealing her phone from her, I feel like that's more of a Dean move if that action had to be included. Sam would be on the more talking her down side like Dean was.  That's what I think, though. Last thought, at times, it was difficult to keep track of who was talking only because actions from others were placed after dialogue. Like '"Something, something." Dean snorted...', yet it was Cas talking. This lasted for several paragraphs.

I really, really recommend reading this story, unless those touchy subjects hit home with you. It has incredible potential to be an awesome fanfic! Give it a try, hunters. :D
