Prologue
A brilliant flash of lighting illuminates the battle of angels and demons in the abandoned barn.

Wood splinters and breaks as the blond vessel of Lucifer is thrown into a wall, and said archangel groans in pain as he forces himself back to him feet.

Around him, loyal demons are slain by angels as the two brothers fight, and Lucifer laughs as he advances yet again on Micheal.

"You won't win this. Why do you continue trying?"
Micheal winces as he is too slow to dodge a hit from the blond archangel, and Lucifer draws blood.

"Because you need to be put down!"

Another laugh leaves Lucifer's lips as he take a hit from Micheal.

"Good luck with that brother."

A loud cry of pain echoes throughout the barn and surrounding area as Lucifer is stabbed with an angel blade.

Demons and angels slow their swift movements to gaze down upon the wounded archangel as a sorrowful Micheal pulls his angel blade from his brother's chest.

"You will return to the cage brother. If it's the last thing you do."

Main story
You hum softly as you silently read your favorite book for the fifth time in the past week.
Your fingers gently skim across the page to flip it, and from beside you, a little boy yawns as he snuggles up against your side.

"Mommy? Is there school tomorrow?"

You bookmark your page as you realize you had finished the chapter, and you set the book on your bed stand table.

"Not tomorrow no. And I thought you were asleep young man." You playfully scold your son as he climbs onto your lap and lays down with the side of his face on your stomach.

"I can't sleep! If I do, the monsters will take me away!" He sleepily curls against you and wraps his small arms around your waist.

"No monsters will get you Issac. except for maybe one..." You quickly glance at the clock, and seeing as it's only eight PM, you decide it's alright for your son to stay up a little later.

Issac's eyes widen like saucers as he realizes what you're talking about.

"Noooo!" His terrified laugh echoes through your room as your fingers find his sides and he tries to roll over.
"Please! Stooooopppp!"

You laugh as you hear his giggles bouncing off the walls, and you slowly release him.

"Only one monster here hun. and that's the tickle mon-"

The sudden hollow echo of knuckles rapping against the front door bring your tickle fight to a stop, and you glance up at the clock.

It's still only 8:13, who would be here at this time? Did someone get hurt?

You gently steer Issac in the direction of his room as you head towards the door, slight worry and fear clouding your thoughts.

What if it's a serial killer?

The sudden thought stops you dead in your tracks, and you turn to grab a kitchen knife before turning back to the door. With a deep breath to calm yourself, you hold the knife behind your back as you open the darkly colored door.

Nothing?

You look to both sides before finally looking down. And that's when you have to hold back a scream. A bloody, beat up man is laying on your front step. With every breath he takes, blood slowly trickles from the corner of his mouth.

"Oh my god! Issac! Call 911 quick!" You hurriedly kneel to the man's level, and notice that he is no longer awake, most likely, he passed out from blood loss. You hear the quiet pitter patter of your son's footsteps as he reaches the house phone in the living room, and the three beeps as he dials the number.

Turning your attention back to the man, you hoist him up, and carefully wrap his left arm over your shoulder to stumble towards the kitchen.

In the living room, Issac puts the phone on speaker, before stretching the cord enough to bring the phone to the kitchen with you.

"Hello this is 911 where's your emergency?"

"Issac honey get the medical kit from under the sink in the bathroom ok?" You speak a little louder for the emergency responder as you set the unconscious man on a chair and hurry to wet a cloth. " I'm at 396 Henderson Street, there's a severely beat up man here. He needs medical attention right away. I'm a former nurse, so I'll do what I can until someone arrives."

"We have an ambulance ten minutes away. Please stay calm." You hang up the phone and turn back to the man.

"Please don't die on my chair" You wipe some of the blood off of his face and the exposed skin on his arms and neck, then cut off his shirt to see the extent to his wounds. Long slash marks are cut across his chest, and there's a stab wound through his side. Luckily for him, it seems to have only pierced through muscle, and doesn't seem to be endangering any of his organs

"I'm not sure if you can hear, me but I'm going to tell you what I'm doing as I do it." You bring the slightly bloodied, formerly white towel to gently start patting the blood off of his abdomen. "I'm wiping away the blood to see how bad your wounds are so I can start fixing you."

"Mommy I have it!" You turn to your son briefly to take the kit from his hands, then point towards his room. "Thank sweetie, now run on up to bed, I'll be up for a bedtime story in a couple minutes." Issac looks as though he wants to protest, but he shuts his mouth as he sees how serious you are and bolts up the stairs, almost slipping a couple times on the smooth wood.

"Ugh" A groan from the man draws your attention once again, and you snap your eyes back to where he sits on the chair.

"Easy there!" You desperately lower him to the floor as he tries to move, and the sound of sirens in the distance makes you sigh in relief.

"Help is on it's way. Just hang in there."

.

.

.

You hum thoughtfully as you walk down the hospital hallway, Issac at your side. Your heels click satisfyingly against the floor as you turn down another hall towards Nick's room, and you smile as your son darts ahead into the blond man's room.

"Hi mister Nick!" A faint giggle from your son is heard, and you smile to yourself as you hear the deeper murmur of Nick's voice. "You here all alone? Or has your mother decided to pop by as well?" You turn into his room, and you're greeted with the sight of Issac sitting on the stool beside Nick's bed, a satisfied smile on his little face as he looks up at the blond man.

"Indeed I have decided to pop by, how are you on this fine day?" You set the single rose on his bedside table as you sit in the chair next to his bed.

"According to the doctors, I"ll be good to go sometime today." Issac's excited bounce led him to fall off of the stool, and Nick quickly holds out an arm to catch him. "You alright there pipsqueak?" He hoists Issac back up onto his stool, and for a second, worry glints in his eyes before disappearing as he realizes Issac is unaffected by his tumble.

"That sounds wonderful! Would you like a ride home?"

Nick cringes at your words, but before you can ask what's wrong, he answers for you.
"My house was um.. burned down in a fire two- three years ago?"
He grimaces as he seees your pitying expression, then shakes his head.

"It's ok really! I've been staying with um... with a friend!"

You shake your head as he starts rambling. An obvious lie.

Unless his friend is imaginary that is.

You hold up one hand and he stops talking quickly.
"You can stay with us Nick. We have a spare bedroom and we can go shopping so you can find some other clothes and some stuff to personalize it.

"I'm certain that Issac won't have any problems with this," You continue as Issac's eyes light up, "so unless you have a very severe allergy or hatred of snakes, I insist you join us."

"If you insist then I woun't argue. But... Snakes?"

Of course that's the only thing you hear...

"Yes. Issac ha-"
"I have my own snake! His name is Lucifer because he's mean and sometimes bites! One time he-"

"That's quite enough Issac."
You blush in embarrassment as Nick looks to you in amusement.
"I think Lucifer and I will get along just fine."
.

.

.

You hum thoughtfully as you was the dishes, hearing Issac and Nick laughing in the living room.

He really is fitting in here. Thank god.

A smile crosses your lips as you scrub the plate a little harder, a stain being stubborn as usual.

The knock is quiet this time. One might even call it polite. The conversation in the livingroom carries on, they probably didn't hear it.

You wipe your hands on the dish towel and check the clock over the table against the wall.

6:37pm? You shake your head and hurry towards the door, hoping that it's just a neighbour who needs help with a locked door.

You attempt to check through the window for whoever it is, but they are out of your line of sight.
With a sigh, you open the door, and your gaze lands on a boy around twenty years of age.

"Hello there, can I help you?" You force a smile and pray that he's just trying to talk about the wonders of church or trying to sell something. But of course, it's never that simple.

"Where is Lucifer." His question is more of a statement then a question, and his voice is deeper than you had expected, and it sends an unpleasant shiver down your spine.

Nick's deep voice in the livingroom comes to a dead stop, and you hear his footsteps echoing through the house as he and Issac move into a different room. You hear the basement door open, and their footsteps going down the steps.

"There is no Lucifer at this house sorry. You must have the wrong address." You can easily shoot him down, and you hesitantly take a step back to close the door.
But the man follows you back into your housd instead, and two other men in suits step into view. They push past you into your house, and your eyes widen in fear as you stumble back.

"Please leave my property!" You try to grab the arm of one of the suited men, but you're shaken off. Fear trickles like ice through your veins as you realise that they are searching your house for this, 'Lucifer' person, and you dart towards the basement to get Issac and Nick away.

"Hault!" One of the men grab you by the arms, and hold you back as you struggle against him.
"Issac!" You scream your son's name as you fight against the man, and by pure chance, one of your feet manage to kick him where the sun doesn't shine.

The quiet curse and instance release of your arms is like music to your ears, and you dart forards again to get to your son.

"Stooooop!" This time, the voice is quieter, and less deep then the others. But the voice is one you reconise, and it sends a chill straight to your heart.

Your son stands at the top of the stairs, little his snake, Lucifer, wrapped around his arm like you taught him."Take Lucifer but don't hurt my mommy!" He stumbles down the stairs and throws the poor snake at the other man in a suit, who catches it, after fumbling for a heartbeat.

One look at the furious snake, and a strange glowing light shoots out of the man to leave the house through the still open front door.

The snake takes one look at the man in the suit before hissing loudly and snapping it's dimond-shaped head forwards to bite the man's nose sharply.

A strangled cry of help leaves the man's mouth, and he jerks backwards, triping over the coffee table and landing on the couch where he proceeds to wriggle like a dying worm in pain as he clutches at his nose, you inwardly applaud Lucifer as he slithers under the couch, and you resume your movements to get to your son.

Issac is crying as he clutches onto you, and you bustle him down the steps of the basement before locking the door behind you and shoving a hanging broom across it in an attempt to slow the men down.

At the bottom of the stairs, Issac runs straight to Nick, who is drawing something on your wall using a red liquid.

Oh my god my wall!

"Don't worry about your wall Y/n. Worry about the angels!" Nick finishes the weird symbol, and you realise what the liquid is as he steps away.

"Oh my god that's blood." You pull Issac away from the blond man as you come to the conclusion that he's insane.

"No wait! Don't worry! I swear we won't hurt you!"

"We?!" You huddle in the far corner, keeping Issac behind you.

"Yes! We! I'm the vessel of Lucifer! The archangel who fell! I'm going to say yes to him so he will protect you from those other angels and Micheal!"

"What the hell are you talking about!?"
"Mommy you said a bad word!"
"Shush Issac!" You stand protectively in front of your son.

"Please just close your eyes! It will be fast!"

Hesitantly, you cover Issac's eyes with your hands, and close your own eyes. One bright flash of light later, you open your eyes to see Nick kneeling on the floor.

"Nick?"

"Sorry sweetheart. Nick isn't home right now. Try again... maybe never?" His voice is friendly, but taunting, and it sends fearful shivers up your arms.

"What?" He rises to his feet, and spreads his arms wide.
"Did dear old Nick never tell you about our wonderful, fun times together? I'm hurt." His smirk screams danger, and that's the moment that the suited men manage to break down the door.

The poor wood splinters, and a scream leaves the throughts of both you and Issac as you crouch next to him, pulling him close to you and hiding his face from the chaos erupting around you.

Annoyance spreads across 'Nick's' face, and he sighs as he turns to face the men.
"Micheal you're ruining the moment. Now she'll be too busy cowering in fear to thank me." His voice is... almost childish as he complains, and with an impressive snap of his fingers, the two men in suits disintegrate into two little piles of ashes.

"Oh my god." You hide your face in Issac's hair and cradle him close as you start rocking back and forth in fear.

"Actually my name is Lucifer. Dad has been such an absent father lately hasn't he Micheal? Terrible parenting if I must say so myself. Unlike you dear y/n, Nick thinks exceptionally high of you and the little one. Ah that cute little bond with that smaller human."

You flinch as he stops talking, and your fear prevents you to move as Lucifer turns back to where the boy stands.

He's going to kill him...

The thought, and knowledge of what's about to happen is a painful reminder that you have no control over the situation, and that all you can do is defend your small son.

"Lucifer, we must put an end to this. You must return to your ca-"
"-Well this just wont do," Lucifer interupts Micheal as he looks down at you cowering in fear while trying to protect Issac from the two archangels.
"You're supposed to love me. Not fear me. Come on, pay attention to me!" He sighs loudly to show his displeasure, and Micheal speaks up again.

"Lucifer! We end this now!" Micheal starts towards Lucifer, and Lucifer looks at you with an expression that almost shows sympathy, or maybe it's sadness?
He brings one hand up to the symbool on the wall, and before Micheal can realise what's going on, he slaps his bloodied hand onto the symbol on the wall, and the two disappear in a bright flash of light.

You slowly stand up, looking around the room, but not seeing anyone other than yourself and Issac, who clings close to your legs.

"Mommy can we go find my Lucifer?" You numbly nod your head, and your small son bounds up the stairs.

You slowly look around one ,ore time, and this time, your eyes spot a pale pink feather.
"What the hell?" You cautiously inch towards the feather, and as you pick it up, a warm comfort shoots through you. Stuffing the feather in your pocket, you hurry up the stairs to your son,
and the warmth leaves you as the feather stops touching your skin.
.

.

.

"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Look!" The happy scream of your son sends a burst of warmth to your chest, and you look up from your book to gaze up to where he stands with his snake wrapped around his shoulders.

"What are you doing munchkin?"

It had been three months since the incident with Lucifer, and since then, you had started studying the supernatural, desperate to find answers to your burning questions. You had moved to a new house shortly after the fight, and you had just finished unpacking all of the boxes last night.

"Lucifer and me found a feather!"

Your hand immediately goes to your pale pink feather, tucked behind your ear, and feeling the familiar warmth, you relax.

"Really now?" Your fingers gently smooth out the feather before you turn your undevided attention to Issac.

He holds a soft-looking, downy feather in his hands. Pure white with not a single speck of black or gray.

"And just where did that come from munchkin?"

'The man at the door gave it to me!"

Your blood runs cold at his words, and you lunge from your chair to try to look outside.

"Mommy?"

You strain your eyes, seeing nothing at all at your front door. No cars parked, no footpronts in the mud. Nothing.

"What man Issac?" Your voice is panicky as you remember the last time a man showed up at your door, and fear trickles through your veins. Cold as ice.

"I assume the boy means me." You whirl around witht a terrified gasp as you reconise the voice. And there, in all his glory, stands a man you had hoped to never see again.

"Micheal." You whisper his name fearfully as you hurredly pull your son behind you.

"Where is Lucifer miss L/n. I will not ask again."

You're frozen in your panic. Unable to do or think of anything that could save you and your son from this crazy being.

Lucifer

The one name flitsthrough your mind, and is gone as soon as the man takes another step closer.

"Lucifer if you can hear me help me please." You manage to whisper the prayer before Micheal snaps his fingers, and suddenly you're alone with the man in your old basement. the same place that you had tried so hard to escape.

"Where is my son?!" Your first thought goes to your absent child, but theman waves his hand nonchalantly.

"He is still at your current home. However he won't be if you don't tell me where Lucifer is right now." His words are dark and threatening, and it takes everything in you to not break down in tears.

"I don't kno-"
"-I'm right here dear brother. Now leave my human alone."

Lucifer appears in the blink of an eye. and he shoves himself between the two of you without hesitation.

"Your human!?"  You forget your fear for a moment to glare dissaprovingly at the blond archangel.

However, the two celestial beings utterly ignore you as their fingertips start crackling with power.

"Y/n you have to get out of here. As far as you can as fast as you can. No complaining. Just go. I will protect you." The man you once knew as Nick gently pushes you towards the door, and you look at him in protest.

"No. Stop. Just go. Get back to Issac. Tell him Nick says hi."
With that said, Lucifer plants a quick kiss on your forehead and snaps his fingers.

Your head snaps up, but it's too late, and you find yourself back at the house.

"Lucifer..."

Epilogue
~
"Hello gorgeous."

The whisper of a familiar huskey voice beside you makes you jerk to the side with a startled gasp, and you nearly fall off the bed before the male wraps an arm around you and rolls you back to face him.

Lucifer.

You're eye to eye with the devil himself, and you can feel his cold, minty breath against your mouth and chin.
~

"What the fuck?!" You sit up with a gasp. Your dream fading away as you realise that he's not actually here. Your breathing is heavy as you try to forget the dream, only to have the feeling as though someone is watching you.

You hurredly climb out of bed, feeling lonely and cold. Making your way downstairs.
setting apot of water to boil, you take out a packet of hot chocolate and set it on the counter by the stove.

A gentle rapping of knuckles against your door leads you to almost fall over as you try to turn around in a hurry.

It's four AM?? Who wants me now...

You sigh as you grab a knife from the knife block, and head towards the front door. Ready to stab the person if it's Micheal. You attempt to look through the window, but it's a little too dark for that. So with a shiver of anticipation, you unlock and swing open the door.

"Lucifer?"

The blond vessel of Lucifer stands at your door. Looking slightly ashamed and slightly scared.

"Sorry this is probably a bad time. Too early for you to be awake." Lucifer moves to leave, but you grab his wrist, and pull him into your house.

"No stay. Issac and I missed you both."

He looks up from the ground to your face in suprise as you gently close the door behind yourself, and you have to hold back a blush as you remember your dream.

"Thank you. I wasn't sure of anywhere else to go."

"You're always welcome here. Both of you."

His smile grows to a smirk as your dream runs through your thoughts again, and you worridly take a step back.

"You do know I can feel when someone's thinking about me Y/n." And with those words, he pulls you flush against himself. wrapping his arms around you tightly and resting his chin on the top of your head.

"How about we take this slow gorgeous."
