three - "everyone has quirks. i like to explode things. you?"

Thor looked exhilarated to see his father while Loki seemed to show no emotion. But they both practically ran over to the elderly man. Odin, dressed in a worn beige blazer and black pants, continued to stare out into the ocean, glancing slightly at the seagulls who flew above. Mira decided to stay a little behind. She felt out of place being alone with the three powerful Asgardian gods. A small draft blew through, and she pulled the grey sleeves of her sweater over her hands.

"Look at this place," Odin murmured as his sons reached his sides. Thor furrowed his eyebrows.

"Father, it's us," he said, sounding worried.

"My sons. I've been waiting for you." Odin continued to look beyond the cliff.

"I know," Thor said gladly. "We've come to take you home." Loki slid his hands into his pockets.

"Home. Yes." He paused as if listening. "Your mother, she calls me. Do you hear that?" Mira tried to listen for a voice along with the two other gods. They all heard nothing except the gentle washing of the waves.

"Loki, lift your magic!" said Thor. He looked at his brother expectantly. Loki shook his head, and Odin chuckled quietly.

"Took me quite a while to break from your spell. Frigga would've been proud." He paused. "Come sit with me; I don't have much time." Odin walked over to a nearby rock and sat down with a sigh. Loki and Thor exchanged glances one more time and followed him. Mira continued to watch from behind.

"I know I've failed you," said Thor. "But we can make this right!" Odin shook his head.

"I failed you. 'Tis upon us...Ragnarok." The brothers raised their eyebrows. What's Ragnarok? thought Mira. Isn't that like a doomsday or something?

"No," Thor denied. "I stopped Ragnarok! I put an end to Surtur!" Odin shook his head again.

"No. It's already begun. She is coming. My life has held her back, but my time has come. I cannot keep her away any longer." Thor and Loki exchanged glances, and Mira tilted her head to the side.

"Who?" asked Thor. Odin sighed.

"The goddess of death...Hela. My firstborn." He looked at his sons. "Your sister." The brothers widened their eyes, and Mira guessed that this was all a surprise to them. Odin looked at the soft blue sky slightly. "She was a goddess who whose violence adapted beyond my control. I couldn't stop her, so I imprisoned her. Locked her away. She draws her power from Asgard. Once she gets there her powers will be," he paused, "limitless." Loki took a sharp breath.

"W-whatever she is, we can stop her!" Thor said. His tone betrayed his confident words. "We can defeat her! Together!" He looked at his father as if he were a little boy again. Mira knew the look; Kaleb had it every time he asked her to play action figures with him.

"We cannot," replied Odin. Thor deflated a bit. "I'm on a different path now. You must face this alone. I love you, my sons." He looked out into the ocean. "Remember this place. Look at that." The two followed his gaze, trying to see their father's visions. "Marvelous place...home."

Suddenly, Odin was blown away in a cloud of gold. Mira put her hand to her mouth. A god had just died! And not just any god, the king of Asgard himself! What's going to happen to all that Norse mythology stuff? she thought, a little frantic.

The brothers stood up from their seats. Thor clenched his fists, and Mira looked up to see the sky above darken. Grey clouds appeared, and thunder crackled softly.

"Brother..." Loki said, also noticing the storm gathering. Mira prepared herself to restrain the blonde.

"This..." Thor said, angry at Loki. "This was your doing!"

Before he could say anything else, black mist gathered up behind Mira. She yelped in alarm and ran over to Loki's side. Thor put his umbrella to the sky and slammed it on the ground. There was a bright flash of lightning, and suddenly, he was dressed in full Asgardian clothing. Loki's outfit was transformed in a flash of gold.

Thor had his complete metal breastplate, adorned with a scarlet cape and Norse runes. His wrists had leather guards, and he wore leather pants. He held his treasured hammer, Mjolnir, in his hand. Loki wore a sleek emerald and green outfit, and Mira could tell it was armoured. There were black pants underneath a metallic black tunic with green sleeves. Over all that, he wore a black sleeveless overcoat with jade patterns on the sides.

"Did you work out, Thor? Your arms are more beefy than usual," Mira whispered to break the tension as they watched the black grow more and more. Thor looked down at his huge biceps.

"A bit," he shrugged. Mira nodded doubtfully.

"And you...wow, you really love green," she commented to Loki. He gave her a look. "What?"

"Mortal, you are just..." He shook his head at a loss for words.

"I have a name, green dude," she shot back.

"Look," Thor said. The three glanced into the cloud of black and saw some green mist float around the ground.

A thin figure appeared and walked out of the mist elegantly. It was a lady, but Mira would've called her a "lady of darkness." And it seemed like she was. The woman was dressed in a dark outfit that fit her whole body, had cut outs on her sides and shoulders, and was streaked in silver. She wore tall shoes, and they made her seem even more royal. She had raven black hair that reached below her shoulders and covered the right of her face. Her suspicious eyes were shrouded with dark eyeshadow.

"So he's gone." Her voice was soft but also sounded as if she hadn't spoken in years. It held a bit of a foreign accent. "Shame, I would've liked to see that," she said.

"It honestly wasn't that impressiv-" Loki clamped his hand over Mira's mouth to cut her off and pulled her behind him. Hela raised her eyebrow slightly.

"You must be Hela. I'm Thor, son of Odin," Thor said. She looked at him.

"Really?" She sounded unimpressed. "You don't look like him."

"Perhaps we can come to an agreement," Loki added. She scoffed.

"Now you sound like him." She looked behind him at Mira, who rolled up her sweatshirt sleeves. "You aren't dressed in Asgardian wear."

"Yeah, I didn't get the memo," Mira said, with a sarcastic smile.

"And who are you? A mortal? What importance do you have?" the goddess asked. Mira shrugged slightly.

"Well not really 'importance' per se. More like the quirky teammate." She looked up. "Everyone has quirks though. I like to explode things. You?" Hela smirked and shook her head slightly. She looked up again.

"Kneel." Her eyes wandered over the three. Loki did a double take.

"I beg your pardon?" he said with raised eyebrows. Hela sighed with disappointment and looked down at her hand. A large, sharp, black and silver sword appeared magically from her arm. Mira took in a breath.

"Kneel," Hela repeated. "For your queen."

"I don't think so," replied Thor. He threw Mjolnir at Hela with incredible speed. Mira was about to celebrate at the hammer slamming into the evil goddess, but...

The goddess caught it.

Thor, Loki, and Mira collectively gasped under their breaths. Hela's arm shook a bit, but she held the hammer with a dangerous smile. Thor, arm still outstretched, held an expression of uncertainty.

"That...it's...it's not possible!" he exclaimed. Hela smiled once more.

"Darling," she said slowly. "You have no idea of what's possible." She growled and dug her black nails into the metal of the hammer. Pushing more and more, the hammer suddenly cracked under her grip and fell down to the grass in a pile of shiny rubble. A huge wave of electricity washed over the other three. They all ducked.

"Um...Thor...your special star hammer is gone..." Mira whispered. Thor and Loki just stared at the rubble with wide eyes. Hela sighed once more and elegantly ran her hands over her hair. At the touch, her hair transformed into a sharp black headpiece. She flung out her hands and conjured two more swords. She twirled them expertly and began to walk towards the trio. Mira flung out her own wrist, and her golden whip appeared. It lashed out in front of the three, ready to protect them. Hela narrowed her eyes and walked faster. Loki suddenly put his head to the sky.

"Take us back!" he yelled. Thor widened his eyes more.

"Wait no!" he shouted in a panic. He ran over to Hela, but before he could tackle her, the four were swallowed up by a wave of rainbows.

Hela was behind the three, who raced up the rainbow portal. Mira remembered Thor mentioning a thing called "the Bifrost." It was some sort of teleporter throughout the Nine Realms. Mira looked below her feet and saw the goddess growl.

"Um...Loki! This was a stupid idea!" she yelled up at the green-clad god. He looked down and threw a dagger from his wrist. Mira dodged, and it almost hit Hela. However, she caught it and threw it back up. Mira dodged narrowly and rolled her eyes at Loki catching the knife. "Can you do anything useful?!"

"Shut up and help!" Thor shouted from above. Mira lashed out her whip at the goddess. It wrapped itself around Hela. She wrestled it for a few minutes, but then Mira was slammed into part of the rainbow wall and Hela tore the loosened rope off. She slid to the side and sped up towards Mira, who muttered something along the lines of "to hela with you, Hela." The whip returned back to Mira, but it didn't lash out fast enough to protect her from a black gloved hand grabbing her throat.

"Get...off...stranger...danger!" Mira struggled under the goddess' strong grip.

"Get out, dirty mortal," Hela hissed. She threw Mira at the wall of the Bifrost with such force that Mira flew out of the wall of rainbow.

The last thing she saw was Loki's green eyes widen in alarm. He threw something at her and then...black.

Mira opened her eyes to see clouds flash all around her. She heard wind rush through her ears quickly and realized she was falling through the sky. Suddenly flailing, she saw a gold rooftop below her and covered her head, ready for the impact. But there was none.

Until a few seconds later.

"Ow..." she groaned as her legs and back hit tiled flooring. "Jesus...that hurt." Mira stood up and blew away strands of black hair. She noticed something strange. What the... She whirled around, and her whip lashed out and threw a man against a golden wall. He yelled out in pain. She narrowed her eyes. The man was...purple? She looked around and saw an assortment of colourfully skinned persons around her. They all wore strange, extravagant outfits, and lots of them had painted makeup. Some of them wore patterned masks, some of them had hair pulled in different directions. Lots of them had neon-coloured drinks or foreign foods.

Mira lashed out her whip in front of her.

"Who are you?" she demanded. "Where am I? And what the hell are you all drinking?!" A few of them looked down at their drinks. Mira glanced around her. She seemed to be in an alien ballroom and had crashed into a party. Oops.

"Uh...who uh who are you? And how did you uh fall through my roof?" a man said. She turned around and saw an man with greying hair and a shiny, golden bathrobe looking coat that had a large sleeve and a cut off sleeve. Underneath, he wore an outfit of strawberry red and bright blue that matched a bright blue streak below his bottom lip. He looked as if he was hosting the party. Mira brandished her whip towards him.

"Who are you? Some sort of cheap knock off Elvis?" she said, looking up and down at his costume. He laughed and pointed at her, looking towards a stern woman. The woman made no motion, except the raising of an eyebrow.

"I-I like this one, Topez." He turned back to Mira. "You look like a great competitor! Welcome to Sakaar! I don't know who you are and why you fell through this roof, but...guards!" He grinned at her and went to sit down in a chair. About a dozen strange men with armour started to walk towards Mira.

"I don't like sports, so no thanks," she muttered. She felt around for their heat signatures. "Gotcha."

Suddenly, half of the guards' extravagant leg wear flared into flames. Some of the partygoers screamed. They ran out of the way to the sides of the room. The guards hopped around, trying to pat the fires out. The rest of the guards growled a bit and walked faster. Mira flicked her wrist. Two more guards found themselves face to face with a flaming whip, then with a wall, and then with the ground. They groaned on the floor. She opened her hand and saw a fingerless glove around it. It was black and had a ring in the center. Where the heck did I get this?! A guard advanced towards her. Before he could hit her, Mira put up her hand and it ignited. She widened her eyes but saw that the fire was in a little ball in the center of her palm. Woah. The glove seemed to concentrate the fire. The guard looked at the flames, then at Mira. She grinned and chucked the fire at his face. He stepped back in pain, hands to his (now burnt) mask. The partyhoster seemed impressed. He held up his hands, and the guards stopped. Mira looked up at him also, her whip wrapped around a guard and another small fire in her hand.

"What are you?" he asked slowly.

"It's a goddess from above..." someone in the room said. There were murmurs around the room. Mira looked around her. The people seemed to think she was some sort of holy being. She held back a laugh, if only Thor could see her being revered as a goddess, he would be enraged.

"You cannot put a goddess into the competitions, Grandmaster," a lady said. The rest of the room agreed in whispers.

"She will kill us all!"

"She has the control of fire! And a weapon!"

"If we kill her, the gods will come after us!"

"She dropped through the ceiling! That can't be normal! Is it?"

Mira smirked. Her mutation had come in handy at least for this one time. She extinguished the fire in her gloved hand and flicked her other hand. The whip came back to her wrist, and the guard scampered away. The people oo-ed and ahh-ed some more. The partyhoster looked to be thinking. He looked back at the stern woman, who nodded slightly. He grinned widely at Mira. She eyed his warily.

"Welcome to the plant of Sakaar, Ms. Goddess!" The people cheered and clapped. Mira stood up and bowed a bit after some hesitation. It seemed right for the moment.

"Um...thanks! I the mighty goddess of uh fires," she improvised, "am glad to be here. Which is where exactly?" She looked around again. The people laughed along with the man.

"Ahh you don't need to know!" he said cheerfully. "I am the Grandmaster, ruler and partyhoster of Sakaar, a planet where you can and will stay forever! I hold competitions for fun and entertainment!" Mira was a bit unimpressed.

"Ok..." she said. "So...what should I do now?" The Grandmaster clapped his hands together.

"Well! We will give you the best accomodations! Welcome to Sakaar!" he said for the third time. The Grandmaster waved his hand and sat back down with a smile. Three women in yellow, low cut dresses and hair pulled up in big poofs walked over with golden smiles. Mira let herself be escorted to another section, confused but also glad she wasn't dead.

She was put into a large-ish room with a big bed that had golden sheets. The women bowed respectively and ran out of the room, leaving Mira by herself.

"Wow thanks," she murmured sarcastically. She observed her surroundings. There were shelves of more colourful drinks on one side, and a huge window on the other. There was also a small hot tub, which she thought was a bit random. Mira walked over to the window and looked out into a bustling city. Strangely shaped skyscrapers with splattered paint were bunched together, and different sized spaceships hovered about. People of all colours and outfits milled around below in small streets. It was getting dark outside, which meant nighttime. Mira wondered if they had a sun and moon on this alien planet.

She sighed and laid down on the bed. She thought about Kaleb. Mira hoped he was ok and that Strange had found a good babysitter. Or at least was watching Kal himself. She smiled a little. Kal would love to spend a day with Strange. She sighed again and turned over, tucking her hands into her sweater sleeves. She pulled out the hand with the glove.

It had some decorative flare to it that Mira had not noticed before. It was sleek and shining black, fingerless, and the ring in the middle of her palm was actually infused into the glove. On the other side, the glove had swirly silver and green lines. Mira widened her eyes at the green, pulled the glove off, and sat up whilst throwing the glove down on her bed. As soon as it hit the bed, it turned into a small necklace with a black and green pendant. She narrowed her eyes - Loki.

Mira laid down again and wondered where Loki and Thor were. Hopefully, Hela hadn't killed them. Hopefully.

Mira's eyes watered slightly, and she rubbed them. Soon she fell asleep, thinking of her son and New York, of gods and goddesses, of strange planets and strange parties.
