Pony

"HOW AM I supposed to choose between two girls that I care about?!" I shouted and ran my hands through my hair in frustration.

Soda shrugged while laying on the couch. "Easy. You ALWAYS pick the second one."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Why?"

"Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen in love with the second one." Soda spoke, looking at me straight in the eye. "I should have listened to myself, but I didn't and look what Sandy did to me. Don't let Cherry do that to you, Ponyboy."

Darry looked impressed and ruffled Soda's hair. "Looks like my boy has gotten some sense knocked into him."

I groaned. "But I love both of them equally. I don't want to hurt either of their feelings."

Two-Bit started laughing and took a swig of his beer, "I'd love to hurt Cherry Valance's feelings."

I shot a glare at him and he rolled his eyes. "Ponyboy, you can't be serious. You obviously pick Kieran!"

I shook my head. "But I've only known Kieran for two weeks! I've known Cherry for months now!"

"Oh yeah, MONTHS, whoop-de-do, Pony!" Steve raised his arms in the air dramatically causing everyone to laugh except me.

"I'm going to show all of y'all how good of a person Cherry is!" I defended and crossed my arms while standing up from the couch.

"We honestly do NOT care what person she is. We like Kieran. She always makes us laugh, she has a big heart, and she's had a rough life. Cherry? She's gotten pampered her whole life and couldn't play a sport if her life depended on it. Nobody here cares about her." Dally snapped, causing everyone's eyes to widen in surprise.

"When Dally defends someone, you know that person is important, Pony. You're my best friend, and if you really like Cherry, go for it. But, don't come crying to me when she cheats on you." Johnny exclaimed while walking out the door, causing everyone's eyes to widen and mouths drop.

"And if Johnny talks to you that way, let alone speak up, you know this decision is important to him too." Dally retorted while lighting a cancer stick and leaving the house.

I scoffed. "So, this is supposed to be MY decision, yet you all get a say in it?"

Darry sighed from his chair. "Pony, these boys care about you. They only want what's best for you and they don't think that Cherry is going to be good for you at all."

I rolled my eyes. "Well I still haven't made my decision yet, but it will be made tomorrow. I'll be sure to let you all know."

Kieran

I WAS DOODLING in my notebook when I heard Gramps yell my name. "Kieran, you have a visitor!"

I glanced up from my notebook and furrowed my eyebrows. I walked into the living room and smiled when I saw Johnny. We started walking and I looked at him. "Where exactly are we going, Jo?"

He kept looking ahead of him. "Windrixville."

My stomach did a flip as I went back to the night Dally and I went there to look for my dad. "Umm, why are you taking me there?"

"I want to show you something. And tell you something." He replied as he kicked a pebble on the dirt road.

Soon enough, we pulled up to this abandoned church. We just stood in front of it and I scrunched my face together in confusion. "Johnny, why are you taking me here?"

"It's a hangout spot for Pony and I. It makes me feel safe, so I sometimes come out here when my parents fight." Johnny spoke and I put my hand on his shoulder. "Well, why did you take ME here specifically?" I asked, emphasizing 'me.'

He grabbed my hand and pulled me inside the church. It was dusty and there were definitely more things in here other than spiders. I sat on the windowsill and Johnny sat on the table. He turned towards me. "Kieran, I need to tell you something. It's important."

I started getting nervous. "What's wrong, Johnny?" He gave me a sad face.

The face Johnny had. (WOW HE LOOKS SO HOT HERE)

"Pony is making his decision. It's either you or Cherry. He's telling all of us tomorrow." Johnny announced and I felt a huge pit in my stomach. "He's going to choose Cherry, isn't he?"

Johnny hesitated. "I don't know, Ki."

I swallowed the lump that was in my throat and hopped off the windowsill. I flashed Johnny a small grin. "Thanks for showing me this place, Johnny. Who knows, I may come here just to drown in my thoughts."

He chuckled. "That's another reason why I come here. No one else in the gang knows it except Pony."

"Well, I'm glad to have earned your trust." I spoke while ruffling his greasy hair. He shot me a glare and I started laughing. "You know you can't stay mad at me, John."

He shook his head, "I can't, but I have a feeling I'm about to stay mad at Ponyboy." The mention of his name again and the way Johnny said that made me worry ten times more. I put my hands on Johnny's shoulders and looked at him frantically, "Johnny, please promise me something."

"What?" He questioned, while looking at me with his sad, brown puppy dog eyes.

"Just tell the gang to not be upset if he picks Cherry."

He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at me like I was nuts. "Kieran, are you crazy? Of course we're gonna get mad! None of us like that two timin' red head!"

I chuckled. "Trust me, I think the only person that likes her is Pony, but I have a feeling that if they do get together, it won't last. He'll ruin Cherry's reputation, and you know the only thing that Cherry hates other than meat is a bad reputation."

Johnny started busting out into laughter and smiled. "Alright, I'll tell the gang to lay off of Pony about it."

I grinned. "Thanks, Johnny."

We got up to my front porch and Johnny shouted, "Stay gold, Kieran!"

I furrowed my eyebrows. "What did you just call me?"

He started laughing. "Stay gold. It's a thing Pony and I say from a poem. Nothing gold can stay."

"Just like Cherry and Pony's relationship. It can't last and it won't stay." I replied, causing Johnny to laugh even more.

My smile faded once I looked up. Johnny turned around to see what I was looking at and he started shaking his head. Cherry and Bob were kissing in his Mustang. I growled and clenched my fists in a ball. I ran to the Curtis's house and everyone's head popped up as soon as Johnny and I busted through the door. "What's wrong, Ki?" Soda questioned.

I looked at Pony out of breath. "Look, I know you may not believe me right now, but Cherry was kissing Bob in his Mustang."

He furrowed his eyebrows and walked outside to look. As soon as we went back outside, his Mustang was gone. "Kieran, Cherry wouldn't do that. You're lying." Ponyboy rolled his eyes and walked back inside.

I started flailing my arms. "Johnny was there with me! Weren't they kissing Johnny?!"

He nodded his head and Pony laughed. "I won't believe it until I see it."

I scoffed. "Since you're so stuck up Cherry's ass, why don't you just go ahead and choose her?"

Pony shrugged his shoulders, "I was going to anyway." And walked out, leaving me standing there. All of the guys gave me a sad expression and I kept my gaze towards the ground. The last thing I want to do is cry over someone who didn't even care about me, but I couldn't help it. My tear drops kept hitting the floor as I silently cried. Soda came over to me and embraced me into a hug. I cried into his chest and said with a shaky breath, "Nothing gold can stay."
