Relationship Drama

Kara Danvers/Supergirl and her sister Alex Danvers are hanging out in Kara's apartment as Kara makes food for both of them.

"So we still hasn't been able to figure out why there are so many more problems in the city?" asks Kara.

"Not yet, but we'll get there. We always do." responds Alex.

"Well I gotta say, even with the extra work, I'm getting it done." insists Kara.

"I've noticed. You've really been out there taking them down." partially jokes Alex.

"Well, the city needs protecting, I'm there."

"I just hope you're not pushing yourself too hard." worries Alex.

Kara stops what she's doing to look at Alex, teasing her, "Thanks Mom."

"I know, I promised I wasn't going to do that anymore but I think we have to consider the possibility that all these incidents are meant to wear you out."

"Don't worry, I'm going to be getting lots of sun today. Mon-El and I are going for coffee in an outdoor setting." Kara reassures her sister.

"Coffee? Really?" wonders Alex.

"What?" questions Kara, "Why?"

"Isn't that a little friendly for a date?" asks Alex.

"No... I mean, okay, maybe... but... the thing about what happened with James is that there was a lot of build up and not a lot of actually getting to know each other. I don't want to make the same mistake with Mon-El." explains Kara as best she can.

"So you're going for coffee?"

"Yeah, it's nice and safe and doesn't involve a lot of emotional commitment. No build up." explains Kara.

"And you're not worried about, other kinds of build up?"

Kara looks at her sister curiously.

"What do you mean?"

"Please don't make me say it."

There's a moment before Kara figures it out, "What? Alex... no... eww."

"I'm just saying, there's more than one way to generate... build up." suggests Alex.

"No, no, we're... we're fine. There's no... no build up." responds Kara.

"If you say so." teases Alex.

"I do." insists Kara before adding, "Speaking of build up, how are you feeling about your big
meeting with Maggie?"

"It's not a big meeting. It's just a meeting." insists Alex.

"Yeah, but of Maggie's new partner. Are you nervous?" Kara teases.

"Why would I be nervous?"

"You're meeting the other woman. Or does that make you the other woman?" says Kara.

"That's not how it works... I don't think."

"You're nervous." points out Kara.

"I'm not nervous." Alex pushes back.

"You're totally nervous."

There's a moment between them.

"Okay maybe I'm a little nervous. I mean, I'm essentially trusting her with Maggie's life on a daily basis. I just wanna know that she can actually do that."

"I'm sure she's a great cop."

"Kara, I love your optimism in people, I really do. But you can't know that."

"Isn't that why you're going to meet her? To find out?"

"I just wish that I could be sure." says a concerned Alex.

"You could always have Wynn look into her." suggests Kara.

"No, I don't want to be 'that girl'."

"Aren't you already kind of being 'that girl'?" teases Kara.

"Maybe, but having Wynn go through her life like that? It feels like that would be going too far. Besides, the DEO already did a background check and didn't find anything. At least that's what they told me, I made a point of not looking at the file." explains Alex.

"So why are you so worried now?"

"I was always worried, I just tried to hide it." adds Alex.

"You know for a secret agent, you don't hide things very well." teases Kara before more seriously she adds, "Maybe you should wait until you actually meet this woman before freaking out?"

"You're right. I'm sure it'll all work out." Alex tries to believe.

A while later, Kara Danvers enters the Catco Media Building as the elevator opens, heading to Snapper Carr's office. The office is in a frenzy. Kara stops one of her coworkers.

"What's going on?" wonders Kara.

"Demolition work on 8th and Frankfurt went wrong. Pieces are coming off the building. We're
trying to get confirmation on how bad it is. Why?" explains a Catco employee.

"No reason, I just got here and everything was nuts."

The Catco Employee rushes off. The elevator dings again, opening up and letting people off. Kara Danvers turns and reaches for her glasses and her shirt.
