Chapter 135

As soon as they arrived at Kara and Lena's house, Kora immediately winced as she was fully exposed to the yellow sun, since even on the Island, it had been filtered, letting the energy hit her more gradually, but now it was hitting her full force and her kryptonian cells were charging up insanely fast, her eyes and ears being the first to react as suddenly she began seeing in multiple spectrums, regular, infrared, x-ray and her hearing was amplified beyond belief, causing Kora to clutch her head in pain as she collapsed to the ground.

"What's wrong with her?" Lena asked, panicking, completely frozen, unsure what to do, unlike her fiance, who immediately jumped into action, crouching down next to her, since she'd been expecting this reaction and she'd tried to prepare for it as best she could.

"Her powers are starting to fully manifest." Kara said.

"Shouldn't that have happened back on the Island?" Clark asked, since he, Alex and Sam had followed them back to keep tabs on Kora.

"No. The Island's scanners detected a new kryptonian biosignature when we landed and adapted to filter yellow sunlight to allow more steady power development as a precaution. I still need to update its systems not to perceive Kora as a potential threat, but I'll do that later. Right now, we need to get her inside so I can help her. I've been through this before." Kara said as she grabbed Kora and sped her inside.

"Well, that was my first failure as a mom." Lena said, since while Kara had snapped into action immediately, she'd frozen.

"Hey, there's bound to be a learning curve. Now let's go see if we can help Kora now." Sam said as they all moved towards the house.

When they arrived in the room that was going to be Kora's, they found Kara already there, sitting on the bed, holding Kora close, saying calming things to her.

"Just breathe. It will get easier. Focus on my voice." Kara said to Kora softly, trying to help soothe her.

"It's too much. I can't even open my eyes without feeling that my head will explode." Kora whimpered, since no one had said anything about this happening with the powers.

"Here, put these on." Kara said as she took her glasses off and placed them on Kora's eyes, since she needed them more than she did.

"It's easier." Kora admitted as her eyes adjusted.

"Those glasses are lined with lead. My foster dad Jeremiah gave them to me when I first came to Earth to help suppress the x-ray vision. I don't need them for that anymore, since I learned to control my powers." Kara said.

"What about my ears?" Kora asked, since they still felt like they were going to make her head explode.

"Focus on my voice. Or just on one sound, whichever one you want. But focus on that sound. Tune everything else out." Kara guided her and the other adults were shocked at how well Kara was handling the situation and Kara even began humming an old kryptonian song her own mother had once sung to her in times like this.

"Just breathe. Everything else will fall into place." Kara said as Kora began to gain control of her hearing.

"It's all so much." Kora said.

"I know. But it is possible to learn to control it. And once you do, the sky's the limit. Literally. Wait until I teach you to fly." Kara said and Kora looked eager for that as Krypto came racing in, clearly wanting to spend time with his newest mistress and make sure she was okay.

"Krypto really likes you." Kara said.

"I always wanted a puppy growing up." Kora said as she played with Krypto, who seemed to keep her calm and helped her stay calm.

"Better?" Kara asked, since Krypto had done the same things for her when she was that age.

"Yeah. I think so." Kora said.

"Why don't we give the new family some alone time. We'll be back when you're ready to introduce Kora to the rest of the family." Alex said, since she was happy to see Kora integrating into their family, she also remembered how Kara was when she'd first come to Earth.

"Why don't we go downstairs while Kara helps Kora adjust and you can fill me in on everything that happened." Lena said, only to have Kara stop her.

"Your place is here with us. I'll tell you everything later." Kara said, since she could tell that Lena was feeling insecure.

Later on that night, after Clark, Sam and Alex had all returned to their own cities and now Kora was sleeping in her new bed, with Krypto cuddled up next to her and now Lena was sitting on the couch in the living room as Kara walked in with a bottle of wine and two glasses in hand.

"What do you have there?" Lena asked, since she didn't recognize that bottle.

"Gift from my parents before we came back to Earth for taking in Kora. Some of the finest Kryptonian wine there is. Don't worry, it's safe for humans, just a little stronger, but I wouldn't drink too much. This stuff is enough to get Kryptonians drunk, so it can be lethal to humans in large amounts, but one glass should be safe for you." Kara said as Lena took the glass.

"Not sure we should be celebrating, since I've already blown it. I completely froze up when Kora needed me while you were a natural." Lena said.

"Lena, you think that I automatically know how to be a mom? I have no idea how to do it." Kara said.

"You seemed to know how to do it earlier." Lena said.

"Training Kora to use her powers is not the same thing as being her mother. I know how to teach her to use her powers. But beyond that, I have no idea how to do this. We're gonna be learning together." Kara assured her.

"Well, that does make me feel a little better. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that you can help her with her powers." Lena said, since she knew she'd be useless in that.

"But you have power of your own and Kora already loved your sister's magic. Maybe show her some of your's." Kara said.

"Maybe, but why don't you tell me everything that happened on Argo City." Lena said.

"Okay, well, it turns out the only true criminal is the now former Queen Rhea, who manipulated her husband into launching the attack, but they've both been arrested by the Green Lantern Corp, though former King Lar Gand is getting a lighter sentence since he surrendered, though I, along with multiple others are going to be testifying in their trials, though Rhea's getting locked up for life. Their oldest daughter Tea is now queen and she's ordering peace between our peoples, especially since the attack has ruined Daxam's reputation and Alex declared this whole sector off limits to daxamites without prior permission and now the Green Lantern Corp are actively helping the people of Argo find a suitable homeworld to resettle on. Tomar Re insisted on helping." Kara said.
