Chapter 128
"Are you sure we can fit everyone on the guestlist here?" Lena asked her fiance as they finished getting their house set up for the big holiday party they were hosting for the whole family.
"It'll be fine. It's not like they're all staying here." Kara said as Krypto barked and ran past them, a Santa hat that Lena had stuck on his head this morning still on it and he looked very happy at the thought of all the guests in his home.
"I'm serious. This place is going to get seriously cramped considering the only family we didn't invite were the Luthors." Lena said, since she'd never invite her adoptive family to this party. Especially since at least half of the guests were going to be Kryptonian, since they'd literally invited the whole family.
Tonight they were expecting to host Alex, Felicity, J'onn, J'inn, Nia, Brainy, Karen, Donna, Jeremiah, Eliza, Clark, Lois, Jon, Jordan, Lara, Jonathan Kent, Martha Kent, Connor, M'gann, Zatanna, Sam, James, Diana, Steve, Hippolyta, Zor-El, Alura, Zak-El, Astra, Lara Lor-Van, Tim-El, M'yrnn, K'hym, T'ania and Nia's sister Sasha. It was going to be quite a full house.
"I know, but I couldn't bring myself to leave any of the family or friends we actually like behind. Besides, this is the first time Sam is going to be introducing James to mom and dad tonight and I want to give her the support." Kara said.
"I know. I just think that if we're really going to host all those people, we should at least have a maid service come by tomorrow to clean the house, otherwise, even with your powers, it would take forever to get the house cleaned. But I am curious on how your parents got your brother to agree to come here for Christmas. I thought he believed that humans were beneath him." Lena said.
"I have no idea, but hopefully he'll behave himself, otherwise I'm sure both Sam and I will not hesitate to clean his clock if he steps out of line, since while Christmas isn't Christmas without some kind of big fight, I'd like to avoid it." Kara said and Lena nodded in agreement.
That night it really was a full house. Holiday music was playing through the sound system and everyone was scattered throughout the house.
The kids were all gathered in the basement, taking advantage of the lounge space Kara had set up down there for when they came over, being supervised by Karen, Donna, Connor and M'gann, while they, Jon, Jordan and Lara taught Kh'ym and T'ania more about how human kids and teenagers acted. By teaching them how to play video games on their aunt's one of a kind entertainment system. Kh'ym proved to be a natural and found the games to be highly entertaining while T'ania was more there because she wasn't sure where else she'd fit in.
In the den sat Lara and Martha, who'd brought over a photo album full of pictures from when Clark was growing up and telling stories about him, since Lara wanted to know everything she could about her son, while Clark and Tim-El were also there, comparing stories about their childhoods and how their lives might have been different if either Clark hadn't been sent to Earth or if Tim had come to Earth with him. Had he been born back then. Though Tim did express his envy that Clark had found a family on Earth, not just with Jonathan and Martha Kent, but also that he'd fallen in love and had a family, in addition to Kara, not to mention the work he did as Superman.
In the living room sat Kara, Lena, Jor-El and Zor-El, who were discussing the work Kara's company was doing.
"So, what are you developing now?" Zor-El asked his daughter eagerly, since he was so proud that she'd become a scientist like him.
"It's actually a pretty ambitious project and one that will definitely benefit the planet." Kara said.
"What is it?" Jor-El asked.
"We're working on drones based on Kelex's technology, but upgraded to serve as pollution neutralizers. Once they've been perfected, we can deploy them in the oceans and they'll start absorbing all the trash people toss into the sea and convert it into energy, allowing them to be self sufficient. It'll help undo decades worth of environmental damage. That is, once we get them working." Lena said.
"That's incredible. I wish we'd thought of something like this back on Krypton. We might've been able to save the planet." Zor-El said.
"But then I never would have met Lena. So things happen the way they're supposed to." Kara said.
"I'm surprised Alura hasn't asked how the wedding planning is going." Lena said, referring to her future mother-in-law.
"That's because she's too busy interrogating Sam's new boyfriend James Olsen." Zor-El said with a chuckle, right as Alura joined them.
"Until Sam finally got tired of it and kicked me out of the room." Alura said with a chuckle.
"She lasted longer than I did when you did the same thing to Lena." Kara chuckled.
"True. But anyways, how's the wedding planning going?" Alura asked and both brothers took that as their cue to leave, not wanting to listen to his conversation.
At the same time, Alex, J'onn, Astra and J'inn were discussing the current status of the round up of Fort Rozz escapees in the kitchen while Zatanna and M'yrnn were discussing the differences in the kinds of magic used by humans and martians while Felicity met up with Lois, Sam and Jimmy in the office, talking about their different works while Steve talked to Jonathan, Eliza and Jeremiah about what their lives had become since Diana, Clark and Kara and entered their lives respectively.
Finally, Diana had pulled her mother outside, since this would probably be the first time they've spoken since the Atlantis War which had been when Diana had banished her mother from the Amazons due to her inactions causing their home to sink.
"Hello mother." Diana said, trying to wrap her head around the sight of her mother dressed like a normal human instead of the Amazon dresses and armor she was used to seeing.
"Diana, you're looking well. Life in this world clearly agrees with you." Hippolyta said a little awkwardly.
"And you. How do you like living in man's world?" Diana asked.
"I understand what you see in man's world now. It is chaotic for sure, but there's also a lot of good in it. I can see why your father wanted you to preserve it. I just wish I'd seen it sooner." Hippolyta said.
"Sounds like you've learned your lessons." Diana said.
"Yes, but after spending so much time in the human world, I'm not sure if I'd want to move to Hephaestia. At least not permanently. I'd miss both my girls too much. Though I would like to finally see your brother and reconcile with him." Hippolyta said and Diana smiled.
"Listen to you, the mighty Hippolyta admitting to liking the world of men. Will wonders never cease. But you can consider your exile ended. You can travel too and from Hephaestia whenever you'd like." Diana said and Hippoltya smiled as she hugged her daughter, though she could sense that Diana was keeping something from her.
"What are you hiding, my daughter?" Hippolyta asked, only for Diana to smile.
"You'll learn later on tonight with everyone else. But it's something truly wonderful. Even for Wonder Woman." Diana said.
"I look forward to it." Hippolyta said, though considering the smile on her face, she has her suspicions.
