With great power

Kara was a little shocked when she saw that the stranger she had been rescued (if you want to call it that) by was someone who looked exactly like her stepfather. He almost looked exactly like Richard, albeit he looked a lot younger than Richard did. And it seemed that he wasn't Richard Parker, but went by Barry Allen. With how recent her father's death was, it hurt her to look at him for a moment. She knew it wasn't exactly his fault, but it was still hurtful to look at him.

"You...you okay?" Barry asked her, noticing Kara kind of staring off.

"Right...sorry," Kara said, wiping her eyes. "Sorry, it's just that you look exactly like someone I know."

Barry didn't seem so surprised or interested; he seemed more intrigued by the thought. "Oh, you know my doppelgänger?"

"I guess you could say that," Kara shrugged, knowing that she needed to help him. She needed to figure out her next move and wait for the others to come back as well, so they could all come up with a straight plan. "What do you need?"

------------------------

Kara took Barry back to the X-Men so that he could figure out what to do while she figured out what to do. As far as she knew, Zod was out there somewhere she couldn't reach until he showed his face or made his next move. He was after the Codex, but she wasn't even sure exactly what had happened to that thing after her pod was attacked and self-destructed. Meanwhile, Barry was hard at work searching everything that he could through the internet of this universe.

"You say you're from another Earth?" Kara asked him in confusion. "How can that be? How many other Earths are there? I mean, we're... Earth."

"Okay, I don't get it," Barry said as he sighed and began pacing. "You guys have Central City and STAR Labs, but you don't have Cisco Ramon, there's no Harrison Wells, not even Caitlin Snow. There's practically nobody who knows how to get me home."

Then the doors opened, and Rogue, Emma, Sophia, and everyone else quickly made their way inside. When they saw Kara, they were beyond relieved. Well, most of them were. Emma still had that same look on her face she always does.

"Oh, I am so glad you're okay!" Rogue exclaimed as she pulled her roommate/friend in for a hug. "You never should have done something like that."

"I promise, I never plan to switch escape pods mid-flight again," Kara said as Peter ran up and hugged her.

"I was so worried," Peter confessed as he squeezed her with a hug.

"Well, you don't need to be anymore. I am fine." Kara promised and looked over his outfit. "Nice costume by the way."

"Oh, I see, when you get powers and a suit, it's a suit, but when I do it, it's a costume," Peter said sardonically.

"Peter," Kara said, looking at him. "That only works if you have powers." She then looked around and noticed everyone else had the same expression. "He has powers?"

"Yeah," Carol confirmed.

Vivian added, "We just learned about it a while ago."

Sophia said, "They're pretty cool."

"He was incredible up there." Kurt complimented his friend.

Kara was shocked to learn that she had never been told her own brother had powers. "Okay, when was I supposed to find out about this?"

Well, between your dad's death, you isolating yourself, then Zod coming along, you deciding to surrender...when did you figure was the right time to tell me?" Peter wondered, as he had been trying to get through to her for days.

"Speaking of Zod," Kara asked her friends, "where did he go?"

"We don't know," said Megan. "I don't think he was up there by the time we reached the ship."

"So, how did you survive?" Carol wondered. "Peter said your pod blew up and you fell to Earth. You should have been a crater on the Earth."

"Well, funny story," Kara said as she gestured over to Barry.

Barry gave a friendly wave to the kids, wondering what kind of world this was where so many children had powers. "Hi, I'm Barry."

Peter was a little shocked when he saw his father, albeit younger than he remembered, standing there in some weird red suit. "Dad?"

"No, I made that mistake too," Kara quickly corrected Peter. "He said his name is Barry Allen, and he's from another universe."

That caused all of them to freeze and try to figure out what they had just been told. "Another universe?" Megan asked.

Vivian questioned, "Like the multiverse?" She asked. "Are you saying that it's true?"

"Oh, yeah. Big time," Barry confirmed.

"I can't believe it either, and I'm from another planet." Kara scoffed, getting a look from Barry.

"Wait, what?" Barry questioned.

"Oh, yeah, she's an alien," Peter said, remembering this guy wasn't his father.

Barry was shocked and looked at Kara; he noticed she confirmed it to be true. "You serious? Are there other aliens on this Earth?" Megan and Kori raised their hands up, shocking Barry even further. Megan showed off her Martian skin to the guy, while Kori showed her powers off by flying around the room a little. "Okay, that's cool."

"Wait, okay, so, can someone explain this to me?" Rogue asks.

Barry had a quick idea and noticed the chalkboard in the bedroom. "Man, you know you live in a mansion when you have one of these," he commented as he recalled how Martin Stien explained this to him and the others a while ago. "Okay, so there are multiple versions of Earth." He started to create a few circles. "One where the Nazis won World War Two. Where Kennedy was never assassinated."

"Even one where we're all evil?" Kori asks.

"Been there, it sucks," Barry stated to her. "So all of these Earths occupy the same place in space, but they vibrate at a different frequency so they can't see one another."

"Yeah, but there's a theory to how if you could run fast enough, you can break through the dimensional barrier and travel between these worlds." Vivian finishes for him as she flew over to the board.

"And how can you do that?" Peter asks him curiously.

Barry decided to demonstrate, speeding off and returning with ice cream. He placed it all of their hands and got back to his original spot.

"So, I was struck by lightning the same night a particle accelerator exploded, and I became a superhero," Barry explains to them.

"I like him," Sophia says while taking a bite out of her ice cream.

"So you can just jump between dimensions to your liking?" Kurt wonders.

"No, this happened by accident. I have traveled back in time before..." Barry tells the boy.

"That's epic!" Rogue interrupts him, loving her life as she took a lick.

"...but I've never jumped parallel dimensions without meaning to. So until I can figure this out, I'm stuck here." Barry tells them.

"Well, don't worry. Because we're gonna help you." Kara says to him.

"Hey, guys?" Emma called them out of their little moment. "Can we get back to Zod?"

"Zod?" Barry asks.

"He's an evil general from my world who is trying to destroy our world," Kara explains as she finished her ice cream. "Is there any way to locate him?"

"I never got a hold of his mind, so there is no way of me finding him," Emma explains.

"Well, where is he going to go?" Kara wonders.

"Maybe the Baxter Building?" Peter offered to them, getting everyone to face him. "That was where Mom and Dad took your pod."

"And you are only mentioning this now?" Rogue asks.

"Wehn could I have brought it up sooner?" Peter asks.

"Would you like some-" Barry was about to offer when his entire body began to feel in pain. "Whoa..."

Then everyone watched as Barry groaned and fell to the ground. His entire body looked like it was glitching out from reality, merging with what looked to be different versions of Barry Allen. Everyone ran over to him, wondering what to do to help.

"What the hell was that?" Megan questions.

Vivian did a quick scan of Barry and was shocked by what she saw. "He's dying."

"What?" Everyone asks in shock.

"His body is beginning to die on the subatomic level," Vivian explains to the group. "The longer he stays in our dimension, the worst it is going to get."

"Okay." Barry groaned as he quickly stood up. "That's new. That usually doesn't happen when I travel."

"Maybe you came from a different kind of universe." Vivian guessed. "The point is, if you stay here, you are going to die. You need to go home."

"Well, we need to take care of Zod, or this world is going to die before he has the chance to go home." Peter reminded them.

"Right," Kara remembered and knew she needed to go. "I'll check out the Baxter Foundation. See if Zod is headed there."

------------------------

Zod and his reinforcments were indeed making their way toward the Baxter Building. Susan saw the two ships approaching and wondered what was going on. Seeing as the rest of her family wasn't in, she knew she needed to deal with this herself.

Susan made her way to the roof where she saw the ships open and Zod exited with Faora beside him. Zod marched over to her and Susan stood her ground. She knew that these people were Kara's kin, the footage on the TV kind of giving that away.

"The pod that she came in. Where is it?" Zod asks her.

Susan knew they were dangerous; she wouldn't let them have anything to do with Kara's pod, or at least what was left of it after it blew up in her lab.

Susan told him, "Go to hell."

Zod didn't seem to like that response as he released a blade from his hand and went to stab her with it. However, Susan went invisible and vanished from thin air. Susan made her way back inside, unaware that their scanners had already picked up on where she was headed.

------------------------

In the Parker household, located in close proximity to the Baxter Building, Krypto sprang off Peter's bed in response to the noise of a skirmish. His acute senses also picked up a recognizable fragrance that he knew could only be from his home planet of Krypton.

------------------------

Susan made her way back down toward the leftover pieces of the escape pod that they had managed to retrieve. She wondered what could be so valuable here that they would risk coming after it. Faora came crashing through the ground and Zod was close behind her. Susan surprised them by using a force field and blocking a punch from one of their attacks.

The force of the attack sent Susan flying and crashing into the floor. Faora approached the table littered with the leftover pieces from the pod. As she searched through them, she realized that there was no sign of the Codex.

Faora said, "The Codex does not appear to be here."

Zod grew frustrated as he looked toward Susan. "Where is it? Where have you hidden it?"

"What?" Susan was completely lost, not entirely sure what they were talking about.

"Where is the Codex?!" Zod demanded from her.

That's when several walls were suddenly broken through, catching their attention. Suddenly, Kara burst through another wall, grabbing Zod by the throat and flying him through several more walls before exiting the building. She made her way down the street and slammed Zod into the ground.

Zod was sent skidding like a rock across a lake, and Kara grabbed onto him again, changing direction to make their way out of the city. She threw him into an abandoned gas station, causing it to explode, and sending Zod toppling. As he began to get back to his feet, his helmet was starting to give way and he was beginning to breathe in Earth's atmosphere.

Zod's senses were heightened to a degree he had never experienced before. "What have you done?"

"I've spent years on this planet, Zod," Kara said as she crawled to her feet. "My family and friends helped me learn how to hone my senses. To focus on only what I wanted to focus on. Without your helmet, you're getting everything. And it hurts, doesn't it?"

Kara was about to run and attack him again when she was stopped by a Kryptonian scout ship flying in. Once it had her locked on, it opened fire and blasted Kara, sending her flying into the nearest town. Kara winced when she felt the blast, but quickly got back up on her feet and then looked around, wondering what she was going to do next.

But that's when she spotted two more of Zod's men approaching, wearing the same helmet he was. Kara groaned as she started to make her way towards them, knowing they would have the same powers that she did, just with those helmets on to help them.

Kara started to make her way toward them and saw the people panicking. "Get inside!" she demanded of everyone. "I've got this."

God, she hoped that wasn't a lie.

Everyone ran inside while Kara got prepared for a fight with the Kryptonians. She was ready to fight off her own people to save her world. But to her shock, before she got close enough, the sound of thrusters filled the air as she watched Iron Man come flying into the area.

That's when Tony Stark entered the room and scanned the three individuals. "Sir, it would seem the young girl who appeared during the Darkseid invasion has reappeared."

"Yeah, thanks for the obvious, Jarvis," Tony said. He could have told who the girl was himself. "Prep the missiles and target the other two."

Jarvis then activated the very same missiles that had been used to destroy the tanks Tony himself had created. When he fired two of the missiles, they went directly towards the two of them, leaving Kara alone. The shockwave from the explosions caused Kara to shield her eyes, while the smoke consumed the area. However, using her X-Ray vision, Kara saw that neither of them were phased.

And not only that, but one of them was coming right for her. Kara jumped to get out of the way of the attack, while the Kryptonian went flying and slammed into the street. However, Kara didn't notice the other Kryptonian who had flown into the air and grabbed Stark by the leg.

"Oh, shit!" Stark exclaimed in terror as he was then smashed into the ground.

The Kryptonian picked up Tony Stark like he was a toy and then smashed him into the ground again. Stark was crying out in pain as he tried to fight off the attacker, but he was failing miserably.

Luckily, that was when Kara flew in and rammed the Kryptonian like a football player would. She mentally thanked Richard and Mary for the countless weekends they would watch sports together as a family.

Kara sighed and then helped him to his feet. "You okay?"

"I'm good." Stark sighed. "How about you?"

"They haven't touched me yet." Kara was thankful for that fact.

She spoke too soon, as the first Kryptonian that had run down the street flew back towards her at full speed. Kara and the Kryptonian were flung across the street and smashed into the restaurant.

Kara groaned as she quickly got back up on her feet, noticing that there were about a dozen people hiding in the restaurant. She needed to keep them safe and stop the Kryptonians. As she faced the Kryptonian, she realized it was Faora who was preparing for a fight. Kara flew right back at her, trying to hit the girl, but she was too fast and easily dodged her attack.

Kara was wondering how she could do that, but figured with her background, she was already enhanced by her powerful skills. Not to mention, Faora doesn't have any powers due to the mask and not embracing the sun like Kara has over the years.

"Your compassion and unwillingness to go as far as you need to is why we will prevail, Daughter of El," Faora promises her.

"No." Kara denied that statement as she prepared to fight. "It's exactly why you will lose."

Using the training that Charles and the rest of the X-Men provided, Kara fought back as she went in, remembering the moves that Rogue had taught her. She went in for a punch, causing Faora to block it. This was exactly what Kara wanted to happen, so she could grab Faora's hand and use her knee to send her flying through the wall. Faora wasn't down yet; she flew back and punched Kara through the wall and into a nearby safe vault.

Kara was starting to grow exhausted from this battle, but she knew she couldn't show it. She was winded from the attack and tried to get herself back into the fight. However, she was going to receive a helping hand in the form of her own dog when Krypto came ramming through the wall and rammed Faora into the wall.

Kara was shocked when she saw her dog also possessed the same powers as she did. "Krypto!"

Krypto snarled as he looked toward Faora, who snarled at the dog herself. She went in and punched the pup, sending him flying down the street. Kara snarled as she then flew right into Faora and dragged the fight back onto the streets.

"Nobody hurts my dog!" Kara snarled in anger at the woman.

Once there, Kara attempted to quickly try and take her down for hurting him, but was stopped by the other Kryptonian. He grabbed Kara by the cape and flung her away, sending Kara skidding and embedding herself into the street. Krypton snarled as he then started to run down the street through the rubble, ending with him getting a piece of red fabric that was blowing in the rubble wrapped around his neck to make it seem like he had a cape on around his collar. When he got close enough, he tackled the hulking Kryptonian and tackled him before biting him.

Tony was a little confused when he noticed that there had been a dog fight. He said, "Okay...that happened."

Kara tried to get back up, but Faora was there to knock her back down just as quickly. That's when Iron Man returned, with his suit having gained upgrades from his armory. He used a chest blast to send the big guy skidding across the street and hopefully give Kara enough time to recover. Faora was preparing to fight and take either Stark or Kara down, but then her head was invaded, causing her to fall to her knees.

Kara looked and noticed Emma was there and approached from the smoke. "Sorry that it took so long. Kurt had to make multiple trips!"

Krypto was flung into the building and injured by the force of being thrown. He whimpered as the big guy prepared for another swing. As the big guy was getting ready for another swing, Rogue came flying in and punched him before he had a chance to hit Krypto again.

"Nobody hurts an animal while I'm around," Rogue said. "Trust me, Sophia would kill me."

That was followed by Carol flying in and blasting him further into the concrete. Faora quickly targeted Emma and sped over to push her, sending the telepath flying into the wall. Emma was quickly protected by the diamond skin that quickly covered her.

Kurt teleported into the middle of the fight to try and help, punching Faro before quickly teleporting and repeating the action. It didn't work out quite well when Faora noticed his pattern and reacted. She grabbed him by the tail and sent him flying into Carol. Vivian was fighting back and lasering one, but due to her powers being solar powered, her attempts weren't exactly helping and were only making them stronger.

Peter was next as he came and kicked Faora with all of his might, trying to help. A raccoon and deer even came from the woods, joining in to help, courtesy of Sophia who was safely out of the way.

------------------------

"I am not entirely sure what I am seeing here, Jameson," the news anchor said as Barry worked on trying to figure out how to get back home. It seemed he couldn't go quite as fast as he did when he arrived, and now had to work up the friction and speed he had when he arrived. "But it seems to be Iron Man attempting to fight the hostile aliens with the help of the girl they came here for, and what seem to be teenagers?"

Barry felt his body slowly dying every time he started glitching, for lack of a better word. He needed to go home, but he saw that this world could use his help. There was no Flash in this world; there wasn't even anyone with super speed like him from what he saw on the internet. They needed help fighting these practically invincible super-powered people.

------------------------

Peter was now practically crawling around the big Kryptonian as he tried to even dent his armor. But nothing that he did was making any impact on trying to harm him. Krypto then came in and rammed into his back, sending him off balance. This saved Peter more than once. Faora had grabbed Megan by the throat and smashed her into the pavement; however, Rogue flew in and punched her to get her off of Megan. Megan quickly phased through the ground and grabbed the big guy, dragging him down. This gave them a bit of time to hold his arms back and deliver hit after hit.

They managed to break free from the ropes and grabbed Kori and Peter at once. They were about to smash their heads together when a flash of lightning came running down the street. Barry came running at full speed, which caught the Kryptonians by surprise as he hit them, causing their helmets to be damaged. This caused them to have to evacuate as they leapt into the air and onto one of their ships.

Stark approached the new hero. "Uh...thanks. Who are you?"

Barry chuckled and knew this would be quite the story to tell. "I'm the Flash," he said. "And I am here to help."

That was when it seemed the military finally decided to get involved as several helicopters and guns started to take aim at them. They weren't entirely sure if they were going to help or if they saw them as a potential threat and knew they needed to be eliminated. Before they had a chance to think, Emma quickly got to work on messing with their heads to basically render the group invisible to the public eye. She did this for a moment as Barry used the opportunity to speed everyone to a safe location.

------------------------

Returning to his ship, he marched back into the main room. He was furious at how easily he had been defeated by some girl who was practically a child compared to him. He wouldn't let it happen again and needed to do as she said.

Xol-Vu asked his commander, "What happened down there?"

"He exposed a temporary weakness," Zod explained as he marched into the room.

"It is of some little consequence because I have located the Codex," Xol-Vu informed them. "It was never in the capsule."

Zod was lost on that comment and wanted to know further. "What?"

"It would seem that when Kara Zor-El crashed onto this planet, the Codex, the DNA of a billion, was bonded to her individual cells," Xol-Vu explained as he showed them the data he had collected from when she was on board. "All of Krypton's heirs are now living within her body."

Zod looked out to the planet and knew that this could be something he could work with. "Does Zor-El need to be alive for us to extract the Codex from her cells?"

"No," Xol-Vu confirmed.

Zod knew exactly what they could do with this information that would benefit their plans. "Release the World Engine."

------------------------

Barry ran himself and the group of kids to the Baxter Building where Susan was still cleaning up after the attack. Peter asked Barry to take Krypto to Sophia at the X-Mansion so that she could help him and keep him safe while he healed. She was, of course, assisted by a group of Reed's robot assistants, but she was just trying to be helpful wherever she could.

"Sorry that this happened to you, Susan." Kara apologized to her.

Susan chuckled as she picked up some equipment and dropped it on a table. "It's all replaceable, Kara," she said. "I wouldn't even be standing here if it weren't for you."

"So, did we scare them off?" Carol asked Kara. "I mean, they seemed to be spooked."

"Spooked for a moment, but they won't be for long," Kara said as she looked at Tony. "You got any friends on speed dial?"

"What do you think I was doing before coming here?" Tony asked her sarcastically. "They should be rounding up at the Tower; they'll want something to go on."

Emma said, "An invasion is coming, and we need to stop it."

"Uh, sir. There seems to be a development," Jarvis warned him.

"Like what?" Tony asks him.

Jarvis said, "Two parts of the Kryptonian ship have splashed down into Earth's oceans." He displayed the information on a holographic screen. "One part seems to be heading towards the Southern Hemisphere, while the other is headed for the Northern Hemisphere."

"What?" Tony asked in shock. "What are they trying to do?"

Kara was beginning to grow concerned because she knew exactly what Zod was doing. "He's beginning to terraform the planet."

"What?" Tony asks her.

She explained to them, "He plans to turn Earth into a new Krypton. That's why he came here looking for the Codex."

"Is there any way to stop him?" Vivian asked.

"Only if we can destroy the ships or shut them down from the controls," Kara said in concern.

"Where are the controls?" Megan asked.

Kara took a likely assumption. "Zod will likely have control over it because he's the commander."

"What do we do with them once we destroy the machines?" Tony asks. "I mean, we don't have anywhere to control or keep them around."

Susan said, "I might have an idea." She looked at the robots. "HERBIE, bring up Reed's schematics for the projector."

HERBIE the robot flew over to the computers and activated them to show off the schematics. Kara walked closer to look them over and saw it was some sort of device that could tap into the Phantom Zone.

"You're making a portal to the Phantom Zone?" Kara asked.

"Reed thought that it could work for some exploration purposes," Susan explained. "Since they had experienced such devastating changes after the explosion of their pod, he thought there might be some sort of connection between them and the planet."

"So, what does that have to do with us?" wondered Kurt.

"If we could create this device, open a doorway, we could create a sort of singularity to pull these guys back into the Phantom Zone," Tony said, understanding her plan. Then he gave Sue a look and he had to admit he was impressed. "You ever consider a change of scenery? Your mind would be welcome at Stark Industries."

"Only my mind," Sue said, knowing what Tony was thinking and playing along with him. "I'm hurt."

"Guys, end of the world?" Vivian got them back on track.

"How long is this going to take?" Peter wondered.

"Well, the Phantom Drive we were able to recover, but if we were to speed the process too fast, it's too fragile. Until we manage to get it into the...projector, it is too dangerous." Susan explains to them, meaning it is going to take a moment. "We just need you to buy us as much time as you can."

"We'll get to destroying those machines." Tony decided. "I'll send drones to take the one in the Northern hemisphere, we'll send Hal to the Southern to take it down."

Rogue questioned, "What about Zod himself?"

His ship seemed to be making its way to the rendezvous point where he had picked up Supergirl. S.H.I.E.L.D. seemed to have arrived and was responding to the threat, Jarvis informed him. I have taken the liberty, sir, to inform the rest of the team of the plan.

"That saves us time," Tony said in relief that he didn't have to repeat it. "Who showed up?"

"Captain Rogers, Diana Prince, Romanoff, Barton, Dr. Banner, Batman, and Hal Jordan."

Tony said, "I can work with that." He looked at Barry. "You were quite a helpful hand out there. We could really use some help."

Barry looked at the group and knew they could use all the help they could get out there. These guys were powerful, but he could also die if he stayed too long. But if he left them now, even if he knew how to get home, he could be leaving this world to die.

"I really should be finding a way to get home," Barry explained his concern. "The longer I stay, the harder it might be because of how much slower I am here." He saw their faces and knew that if these were the line of defense for the world, then he should definitely help out. "But...what the hell? I will probably never get the chance to fight off another alien invasion. Let's do this."

------------------------

Luckily, they were able to get a ride on the Batwing with Batman, which spooked a bunch of them out. None of them had been this close to a hero like this before, but Kara declined the ride and stood outside so she could soak up as much sun as she could for the fight. A Quinjet was flying alongside them with Diana, Banner, and Rogers flying inside. Natasha and Barton were the ones flying the jet as they were making their way over the desert. Tony was helping Susan finish the Phantom Zone Projector whilst Hal was flying over the ocean to try and destroy the terraforming ship, while a handful of droned Iron Man armors were heading for the other one. And to be on the safe side, Emma stayed back to help Tony and Sue just in case they were targeted.

Any way of being able to take these guys down? Like a weak spot on their neck or something?" Clint asks.

"No, they don't have those kinds of weaknesses," Peter said apologetically. "But Ka-Supergirl learned that if you break their helmets, they will suffer from sensory overload."

"Hit them hard in the face and run," Barry joked as he sat down on the left side of him.

Banner says, "You sure that bringing them into this was a smart idea?"

Tony reminded him. "These kids have already proven themselves to be strong enough to take down the Kryptonians. Just keep them from dying, because I'm not telling their folks."

"Ouch," Rogue commented, feeling insulted by both the fact that she didn't have anyone who worried about her and the comment from him. "Okay."

"I am going to stay airborne, take care of their air support," Bruce told them.

"So that equates to me, Cap, Diana, the new guy, and a group of kids against the entire Kryptonian army." Bruce comments.

"Speaking of which, I think it's time to let out the green guy." Nat reminded him.

Bruce sighed and watched as the jet began to make its way over the opening. Then Natasha lowered the doors for him to make his entrance. Bruce hated this part as he placed his glasses to the side and prepared for the inevitable. Not wanting to endanger them, he dived out of the jet and made his way towards the ground. The second he leapt, his heart rate increased to the point that Hulk began to transform, and he landed right on top of a crushed tank.

The Hulk let out a gigantic roar as he was shot at by one of their scout ships in the air. Getting annoyed at the constant shooting, the Hulk grabbed the tank and grabbed it by the gun. Spinning it around, he knocked a few of the Kryptonian soldiers before throwing the tank to the ship and making an impact, sending their ship crashing into the ground. He let out a gigantic roar as he rammed through the battle, seemingly not caring if he was attacking S.H.I.E.L.D. agents or Kryptonians at this point.

"Alright, kids, I think this is your stop," Bruce said as he lowered their seats to the outside of the ship.

"Wait, what?" said Barry.

But the seats below them disappeared and they were left dropping. Rogue was quick to catch herself as she started to fall; Caol, Kori, Megan, and Vivian were quick to mimic the action as they flew down. Kara made her way next to her teammates while Kurt managed to teleport himself and make his way onto the battlefield to help S.H.I.E.L.D. fight back. Barry was quick to begin running and grab Peter before he toppled to the ground. It seemed that this version of Barry's brother didn't have web-shooters, which was something he would need to work on.

When they stopped in the middle of the battle, Zod's ship showed itself as it opened the front and Zod was front and center with two gunmen at the helm of his ship. The Quinjet opened as Diana used her lasso to lower herself to the ground and began to fight the Kryptonians, using her lasso and fighting to her advantage. Kara eyed the monster that was planning to destroy her world and knew she needed to stop the terraforming from destroying her world.

"Zod," Kara whispered and flew right into the action.

She made her way across the battlefield and targeted herself to ram right into Zod's gunmen as they opened fire on her, but never managed to hit. Kara managed to avoid their shots before ramming into them, sending his men flying across the field. Kara quickly returned to the ship and eyed Zod. The two stared at one another as both of them were waiting for the other to fight first.

Zod said, "Kara Zor-El. We've been waiting for you."

Back on the ground, the hulking Kryptonian from before was holding one of the missiles that had been fired at him and swinging it around to knock back the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. That's when the Hulk came ramming through the tanks and smoke to push through and tackle the monster. The Hulk caused the missile to explode, giving him the advantage to fight back as he punched the Kryptonian in the face, damaging his mask. However, it wasn't enough to break it yet, so the Hulk grabbed him and ran across the field, slamming into several tanks. The Kryptonian got back on his feet and used the Hulk's own momentum to send him flying across the field.

Zod then lifted his sleeve with some control, and Kara watched in horror as he controlled the terraforming. "Terraforming has officially begun," he announced. She watched in disbelief as some sort of projection showed the process of Earth being transformed into Krypton. "This world must die so that Krypton may live again."

"Krypton is gone, Zod," Kara informed him, wanting to end this without having to kill the last of her kind. "You need to accept that. It is over; you don't even have the Codex to rebuild it."

"You are wrong there, Kara," Zod said as he began pacing, while Kara waited for an opportunity to attack him. "It would seem that the Codex was bound to your DNA upon your arrival to this world. Your blood, we must harvest it. Your sacrifice will allow Krypton to live again."

Kara saw there was no reasoning with him and sighed as she looked at all the death and destruction. "Then I am truly sorry."

Kara immediately attacked him with her laser vision, sending Zod flying across the battlefield. She then flew after him, punching him once more, narrowly avoiding the Batwing in the process. Meanwhile, Bruce was trying to fly across the battlefield while being pursued by two Kryptonian pods attempting to shoot him down. He had an idea when he noticed that they were approaching a rock formation. Bruce shot out two lines from his ship and detached it from himself, flying away from the formation. As the Kryptonian ships attempted to follow him, they collided with each other, causing them both to crash.

Back on solid ground, Peter punched every Kryptonian that he could manage to get close to before he then leapt out of the way, grabbing onto their helmets and ripping them as hard as he could. Luckily, due to the nature of his sticky fingers, he was able to do that with ease. And since he couldn't control his powers quite right in stressful situations, it gave him an even bigger advantage.

What helped the most was having a Speedster on the team; Barry ran around the battlefield, either disarming the Kryptonians before they realized what hit them or even punching them as hard as he could. In this case, Barry approached the Kryptonian that Peter was battling and punched him in the face, breaking his helmet and causing him to fall due to the sensory overload.

Across the battlefield, Captain America was running around as he tossed his shield at the aliens to get their attention. When he was cornered by all of the Kryptonians in the area, Diana came in as she slammed her bracelets together, sending a shockwave strong enough to shatter their technology. For a little extra help, Kori flew over and blasted them with as much power she could muster to fight back.

Carol and Megan fought back-to-back as they were battling all the Kryptonians that approached them, trying to buy them enough time for the Projector. Meanwhile, Vivian stood still, waiting for one of the Kryptonians to come running at her, giving her the chance to become intangible before the Kryptonian could punch her. This allowed the Kryptonian to pass through her, causing her to increase her mass, effectively breaking the warrior's hand.

The Hulk was growing more enraged as he ran toward the Kryptonian, his anger causing him to emit a slight green glow. As he approached Zod, he swung at him, only to be blocked by Kara. She then retaliated, sending him flying into a helicopter's rotor blade. After recovering from the impact, she flew over to save the pilots, managing to land the damaged aircraft safely.

But that was a short-lived victory when Zod came crashing through the chopper, causing it to explode and killing the men inside. Kara was now growing increasingly angry with this man and screamed to get across her frustration. Zod started to run to try and get back at her, but Kara was much faster thanks to her powers. When she flew towards Zod, she kicked him and sent him flying backwards into the remains of one of the ships Bruce or Nat and Clint shot down. She then marched over as she picked up one of their Kryptonian guns and swung it around as she smacked Zod with it, sending him further into the ship.

Zod was going to quickly fight back as he was readying his blade; Kara was too blinded with rage to even notice. Luckily, she had a friend who was much quicker – Kurt came teleporting in and grabbed her before they got into any more trouble. Zod was shocked when he realized that Kara Zor-El had friends who could teleport.

Kara took a moment to realize that she had been teleported away from Zod and saw Kurt save her. "Thanks."

"No problem," Kurt said before teleporting away back into the fight.

Kara looked back at Zod and was ready to get back to fighting. It seemed that Barry had been nearby and remembered that he was the leader of the group. He decided to help Kara by flying into the middle of the two, creating a cyclone to blind Zod. Kara was a little confused about what he was doing until it suddenly struck her what he was doing.

She had to admit, this new guy was starting to grow on her as she flew right into the middle of the storm to fight Zod and end the Terraforming. While Zod was taking in the situation around him, Kara came flying at full speed and punched him in the face, damaging his mask even further. Kara flew out of the cyclone before turning around and going in for another strike at the monster.

Bruce looked over at the command ship and knew that he had to do something to strike a blow against the opposing team. "I'm going in to take out the big one."

Natasha asked, "Bruce, are you sure about that?"

"I've got it," Bruce said as he fired several missiles to take down the ship. To their surprise, the ship appeared to be ray-shielded, meaning that every strike Bruce hit it with didn't do anything. However, the defenses became aware of the Batwing and opened fire on it. "I've been hit!" Bruce tried to use the ejection button, but it wasn't working. "And I'm going down."

"Hang on!" Rogue cried as she abandoned the fight to fly up and grab onto the Batwing, but since it was spinning out of control, all that did was give her a little motion sickness in the process. She quickly punched through the ship to get to Bruce's seat. "I got ya!"

------------------------

Back with Tony and Susan, they were beginning to finish up the Phantom Zone Projector. It didn't look like much; in fact, it looked almost like a giant disk with a pistol attached to it. Luckily, they weren't designing this thing to look pretty; they just needed it to be functional so that they could save the world before the gravitational pull of the ships got to any major landscapes.

"Okay, theoretically, this should open a portal to the Phantom Zone, and suck Zod and his forces inside." Susan was happy to say that it was done.

"Theoretically," Tony said, a little skeptical of the word.

"Yeah, I don't like theoretical work with the world at stake," Emma stated.

Well, until we test it out, there's no telling what it will or is supposed to do," Susan said in defense of her use of the word. "We need to get this out there for them to at least field test it."

"And if we're wrong, we lose the last hope to save the world," Tony commented.

"Ha! He has that little faith in me!" Hal cried as he continued to struggle against the World Engine. "But you better get this right! I'm not sure I can do this alone."

------------------------

Zod was in the middle of getting beaten up by the likes of Kara and Barry as they worked together to save the world. He was beginning to notice the pattern that was going on every time Kara flew in and made a U-turn to punch him. When she punched him and made the turn to do it again, Zod was prepared for it and dodged the attack, grabbed her by the cape, and flung her towards Barry, who was smacked and sent toppling and skidding across the desert.

Rogue was quick to rescue Batman from his ship as he then freefell, using his cape to slow down his trajectory. However, Rogue had another idea when she saw Hulk was now in a headlock and being choked by the Kryptonian.

"Oh, I hope you live so I can regret this," Rogue said as she then flew downward in the Batwing.

The Hulk was struggling to fight as he was trying to catch his breath, but he was then confused when he saw the Batwing spin around in front of him. That's when he noticed Rogue spinning it before she then moved around and flung it at their backs. The batwing slammed into the ground right behind the Kryptonian, and it managed to set him off balance. Hulk then turned around, and he then grabbed the Kryptonian by the head. He then kneed them before squeezing their helmet. Once the helmet broke off, Hulk squeezed his head like it was a grape between his fingers.

Rogue was revolted by the sight, but she knew this was a warzone. She was going to see a lot more bodies if they didn't finish the job. Barry groaned as he got back up on his feet and looked down at the damage that had been done to his suit. As he was getting up to go again, he felt his body begin to glitch again and he groaned, falling to his knees once more.

"Ow, that hurt!" Barry groaned as he felt his body deteriorate. It seemed using his speed was not only making him slower, but it was also making him deteriorate faster. After each run, the more he used his speed, the more it would hurt. "Come on, Barry, get up." He then pushed himself up to his feet and was ready to go again. "Alright. Come on, just a little longer. They need you."

"Actually, Barry, we need you here," Tony said over the comms. "We have the Projector here; it's ready for field testing."

Barry was relieved to hear that, but also knew it was going to be a bit of a run. "Alright, I'm on my way." Then, with that, he got ready to run by taking a deep breath to calm himself. "Run, Barry...run!"

Barry then sped through the field to make his way back to New York and toward the Baxter Building. As he was running, he passed Vivian and Megan who were flying around each other to create a cyclone as a distraction before flying through them and using all of their energy to punch the monster. The Quinjet with Nat and Clint were still circling the area and shooting the scout ships as they learned from Bruce to not shoot the big one.

Back with Kara and Zod, she got back up before charging toward Zod again. When the two of them collided at full force, they sent a shockwave strong enough to create a dust cloud in the area. The dust cloud provided them with the cover they needed to try and fight each other, but it also gave them both a disadvantage by obscuring their vision.

"We could have built a new Krypton together, Kara Zor-El!" Zod screamed through the smoke. "But you chose these humans over your own kind. Everything that I have done, Kara, no matter how cruel, was to protect our people. So, I will take away all of these people that you seem to love."

"You are nothing but a monster, Zod!" Kara cried through the smoke, trying to pinpoint him with her X-Ray vision. "You have made it perfectly clear you are not interested in co-existence, you're not willing to compromise, you only want genocide! That makes you no different from the other monsters I have helped stop from destroying the world." She then pinpointed his location through the smoke and smiled. "You are determined to play the role of the monster, so I am going to have to take on my role." She then built up all of her strength for one punch. "As the one who protects them from the monsters."

Zod was trying to figure out where her voice was coming from just when Kara came flying into his line of sight and punched him across the face. Zod was sent toppling backward as he was then grabbed by the back of the head by Carol, who wrapped her arms around his neck. Before he could make a grab to stop her, Peter and Vivian made their way in as they grabbed him by the arms, and kept them separated. Seeing that they had their commander, Diana used the Lasso of Truth to help keep his arms bound.

------------------------

Barry made it to the Baxter Building and made his way over to the table where he then saw the Phantom Zone Projector. He looked at it and was impressed with how fast they were able to make it, even by his standards. Yet again, they had some more advanced tech than they did on his Earth, and robots to help speed up the process.

"Okay, tell me how to work this," Barry said to him.

"Okay, you just need to aim this disk part at Zod, and then pull this trigger." Tony gave him the recap version.

"Alright, just hit it like this?" Barry asked and looked at the trigger. Then he was met with shrieks from all three of them, none of them wanting it set off in the labs. "Hey, relax, this isn't my first time."

"Oh, goodness!" Tony wasn't sure he could handle this.

"Hold on tight, guys; I'm bringing our last hope." Barry then sped his way out with the Projector in his hands.

------------------------

Kara was happy when she saw all of her friends were beginning to help hold back Zod. When she marched her way over toward Zod, just about everyone was helping keep him down. She then grabbed the gauntlet and kept it attached so that she could command the machines. She stopped the World Engines, just for Hal to be able to run and destroy them with his Green Lantern ring.

"It's over, Zod," she said to him.

"No!" Zod struggled with all his might to break free from their grip.

Barry made his way back as he sped his way towards the group. But that was when he began to feel himself glitching and causing him to stop running. He dropped and toppled as the Phantom Zone Projector was sent skidding across the battleground.

Kara saw the weapon and knew that was their last chance to stop this all here and now. But she guessed that Zod had also noticed their plan; he headbutted Rogue, sending her toppling backward, grabbed Carol, and threw her into the air. The woman collided with the Quinjet. Using her hold on the rope, Zod swung Diana around and managed to knock the rest of them off. Kara tried to get involved and punched him into the air. Zod made his way back towards her and was about to hit her, but was interrupted by a tank that was swung by the Hulk.

Zod was sent flying and skidded like a rock on a lake before coming to a stop. Kara looked at her friends and saw they were alive, and that she now had a chance to end this. She looked to the Hulk, who actually had a nosebleed from this entire battle and even spooked her a little. But the Hulk didn't take his injury into account as he charged his way back toward Zod and watched the two charge at one another before going for the Projector.

The Hulk leapt into the air and plummeted towards Zod with his fist raised to punch him. Zod quickly dodged his attack, which he managed to follow up with a kick to the face, sending the Hulk to his knees.

"Even a brute like you will learn to kneel before the likes of me," Zod says as he goes for another hit, only to be met with a palm grabbing his fist.

The Hulk gave him a look that showed just how mad he was and even spat out a tooth. The Hulk then mustered all of his strength to punch the Kryptonian into the air and watched as he plummeted toward the Earth. Kara saw this as her opportunity with Zod high up in the air and away from everyone. She prayed that this worked and aimed the Phantom Projector at the air.

Kara looked down and wasn't sure how it worked and looked to Barry. "What do I do?"

Barry groaned as he climbed to his feet after the strange moment. "Pull the trigger!"

Kara was surprised it was that simple and quickly shot the projector into the air. When the beam of energy left the device, a gigantic portal in the sky was formed, giving Barry a bit of a flashback to when the Singularity was destroying Central City. Everything in the area around them was beginning to be pulled into the portal with the gravity field surrounding it. Everyone started to run to try and escape while their friends who could fly gave them a helping hand in that mission.

Kara was making sure that every Kryptonian was being pulled in when she heard whimpering coming from around the area. "Kara..."

Peter.

Kara spun around, desperately searching for any sign of her brother. It seemed impossible to find him among the chaos. Finally, she saw him, injured and clutching his arm. Considering he had been punched by Zod, it was a likely possibility. She watched in horror as he lost his grip on the ground and began being pulled into the gravity well.

Kara quickly flew her way into the well, as she tackled her brother and flew as fast and as hard as she could to escape the gravitational pull of the singularity. The gravity of the singularity was growing stronger and stronger, but she wasn't going to give up without a fight as she continued to fight and hoped that the portal would close soon. However, the harder she tried to fight back, the harder it became for her to keep it up, and she started to get slowly dragged into the singularity.

This is when a lasso was wrapped around her arm, and the two looked to see Diana, Barry, and everyone else who were far enough away from the gravity well to be able to help them out. The lasso was tied to the inside of the Quinjet, which Rogue was able to get to safety.

"Go!" Diana shouted to the Quinjet, where Natasha and Clint were still inside.

The ship had been grounded, so it couldn't fly, but the thrusters on board were strong enough for them to use on the floor and drag the two away from the gravity of the situation. Kara held onto Peter as he did the same to her and the two of them were dragged far enough away from the singularity. Zod was plummeting toward Earth and was not able to escape the well since he was heading directly toward it. He fell into the singularity and was forced to return to the Phantom Zone with the rest of his surviving men.

Once all of them had disappeared, the portal closed and the Projector shut down.

Kara floated Peter to the ground and looked down at him in amazement. "You...you were spectacular."

"You were super." Peter joked.

Kara laughed as she held him and saw everyone else. They were all relieved to see that the battle was finally over and that there was nothing left to do now but take the Phantom Drive back and get Barry home.

------------------------

"Well, Perry, I am not entirely sure if I believe it myself." The news began to report on the story as Mary Parker watched everything from her home. Nick freed her finally after being cleared of being associated with the Girl of Steel (as some are beginning to call her). "But one thing is for sure, this Supergirl, she has won favor in my book after what she managed to do. As well as the rest of those heroes that helped her. Supergirl, thank you."

Mary was happy to see that people were starting to accept Kara for who she was, but she was still worried about where everyone else was. Krypto was the only one at home when she got there, and even he had a cape wrapped around himself. Sophia was also there, saying she was a friend of Peter and Kara and was dog-sitting; she said he showed her how to get in.

Yeah, kids talking to dogs being a footnote compared to everything else.

Then her back door started to open, and she was wondering who it was when she saw her son. He never changed out of his Spider-Man attire; he figured it was time his mother knew the truth. He had his mask off and gave her a sad smile when Mary saw all of the bruises he'd received during the battle. She pulled him into a hug and was just happy to know that he and Kara were both okay.

But where was Kara?

------------------------

Kara tied off the last loose thread in their world.

Barry Allen.

Kara and Barry were ready for this to finally be the day when they said goodbye to one another. He had helped them save their world and stopped Zod, and now it was time for her to help him get home.

"You really think this is going to work?" Kara wondered.

"Well, seeing how fast you were going in that fight, I have a feeling this will be more than enough," Barry explains to her. "Basic teamwork, me and my Spider-Man do stuff like this all the time."

"Spider-Man?" Kara was confused as she put it together. "You mean you know my brother in your universe?"

Barry chuckled as he began to put the Tachyon device back on his chest. "Something like that."

"Spider-Man?" Kara wasn't sure how she felt about the name. "A little on the nose."

"Said Supergirl." Barry chuckled.

"Hey, I didn't pick that name. And it's just a placeholder for now," Kara said. She knew she needed a better name.

"Well, anyway, if we combine my speed with your own, and you push me at my fastest, I should be able to break the dimensional barrier and return to my universe." Barry explained the plan to her.

Kara smiled when she heard that. "Wait, you mean like a race?"

"Think you can keep up, Girl of Steel?" Barry asked.

Kara chuckled as this guy seriously reminded her of her Earth father. "I am going to whoop you across the pavement."

"Let's see what you've got, Kara Parker," Barry said, that statement a little weird for him to say. He could never imagine his universe's Peter having a sister with another family. "Or Kara Zor-El, which is your alien name." Man, he seriously reminded Kara of her aunt. "Which I think is pretty cool."

Kara blushed a little; it was almost like getting praised by Richard one last time. "I'm gonna miss you."

Barry smiled and let out a small sigh. "And you should know...Rogue, your friend, spilled the beans. Told me I look like your dad's doppelgänger."

Kara sighed as she heard that. "Anna, I swear...!"

"It's okay, I get it," said Barry with a smile. "All things considered, I think he would be proud of you."

Kara sighed and nodded. "You think so?"

"Well, we share a personality, according to Rogue... which is weird to think about, but... yeah. You were amazing back there." Barry complimented.

Kara started to tear up a little. "You don't mind, do you?" She raised her hands for a hug.

Barry smiled as he approached and walked over to give the girl a hug. "Feeling better?"

"Yeah, I do," Kara said as she prepared to run. "You ready?"

"Let's do this," Barry said as he got into his stance and activated the device.

After getting ready, they both raced off. When they had picked up enough speed, Kara gave Barry a big push, enabling him to break through the dimensional barrier. Barry ran at his top speed and entered the vortex, making his way back to his own world. But he missed a stray lightning bolt that had been fired at him last-second, which went unnoticed.

Kara skidded to a halt as the portal closed, leaving her alone in the middle of the open field. "Bye, Dad."

------------------------

Just a day after the whole invasion, things had gone back to an eerily normal state, considering everything that had happened the previous day. Peter went to school without a scratch on him, as his body had healed overnight. When he approached his locker, Megan was already there.

"Hey, how's your head? And your arm? And your everything?" Megan asked.

"Yes, I know I took on more than I could handle." Peter promises her, "Trust me, from this day forward, I won't be going up against aliens anytime soon."

Megan nodded and sighed. "What are your plan's after school?"

"Well, mom wants me to take Krypto to the vet, make sure his leg is healing up." Peter explains.

"Where do you get a vet to work on an alien dog?" Megan questions.

"That's where I come in!" Sophia exclaimed as she ran over and pulled Peter close. "Hey, Pete."

"Hey, Sophia." Peter greeted her.

Megan was a little confused with what was happening. "Did I miss something?"

"Uh, no," Peter says. "Not really." He pauses. "After the invasion, I asked Sophia if I could thank her for helping Krypto by taking her on a little lunch date."

"Emphasizes the date part." Sophia stated. "And I'm paying."

"See? I get a free lunch. And I get to hang out with a cool mutant." Peter said as he pulled Sophia closer. "We're gonna have some fun."

"Hm. Good for you." Megan shrugged and was happy for her friend. "Have fun."

"Yeah, hey I'll text you and we can hang out later." Peter told Megan as he and Sophia headed for class.

As they walked down the hall, Megan was a little curious about her thoughts. She wondered if it was rational or not. Peter is the shy type, and he would never ask a girl out first. However, he has begun to grow more confident in himself thanks to his newfound powers.

As Emma walked past, she smiled as she eyed her friend and her new boyfriend. Things were going according to plan.

------------------------

Meanwhile, a young boy who was volunteering at the New York Police Department was filing things in the forensics lab. When he heard what sounded like thunder, he looked up in confusion and noticed a stray bolt of red lightning coming down.

As he watched the lightning strike the chemicals and then travel towards him, Barry Allen felt a sudden zap of electricity surge through his body. The newly created speedster was sent skidding across the room and crashed into the floor.

------------------------

But let's just say...there was one more stop for Kara. She made her way to New York and floated outside the building she never thought she'd find herself at. She flew up to the top window and faced a certain bald-headed monster.

Lex Luthor turned around and faced Supergirl as she crossed her arms. "I'm afraid we already have a window washer."

Kara didn't even speak; she only gave him the stare. "I know what you did."

Lex then spun around to face her as he stood up. "Well, I don't know what you thought you heard about me out there, but I know what you can prove, and it's nothing. You see, uh... Supergirl... I own New York City, whether people know it or not. My technology built it, my will keeps it going, and nearly two-thirds of its people work for me, whether they know it or not." He approached and leaned on the glass. "Even you have to admit, it's a model of efficiency. And yet, I've often thought... why limit myself to just one city? A being with your abilities could be very useful to me on a, shall we say, global scale? Why don't you float on in and we'll discuss it?"

Kara wasn't going to listen to anything this man said, apart from a confession to the murder of Richard. Lex lost his composure when she just kept staring at him and giving him the look.

Lex was getting angry as he grabbed a stapler and threw it at her. "SAY SOMETHING!"

Kara caught the stapler easily and crushed it with her hand. "Let's make one thing clear," she said as she flew a little closer so her face was almost against the glass. "I will not rest until the people know the truth. You kept your tracks hidden for now, but let's be clear. If there's a second attempt on Mary Parker or her son or daughter, or even her unborn child...I'll come for you, Lex. And nobody would ever know it was me. There'd be no evidence. You'd just go missing. Because no one will think to look for your body on Saturn."

Lex didn't even respond as Kara then started to back away a little.

"We'll be seeing each other, Lex," Kara promised as she flew off into the sky at full speed, shattering his window.

Alex covered his head with the glass and sighed as he gazed at the shattered remains. "Oh, you will."

------------------------

That night at the X-Mansion, Nia was sleeping in her bed and began to toss and turn. She was beginning to have a nightmare of something horrific and couldn't even explain it.

What she saw was Kara down on her knees, holding what looked to be an unrecognizable corpse. She was surrounded by fire and flames all around her. When she stood and dropped the corpse, Nia noticed that she was wearing a black version of her suit, and a gigantic figure emerged from the smoke.

Darkseid.

That's when a small glimpse of the corpse came into view, revealing that there was a spider insignia on his chest. Darkseid placed a hand on Kara's shoulder, and she embraced his touch.

Nina gasped as she woke up in a sweat and looked around; that had been only a dream.

Or was it?
