Families come first

Needing some help with whatever was going on, Peter did the one thing he thought he could do at the moment. He contacted the people that could possibly help him. Since the day wasn't a school day, he got into contact with Sophia, Emma, Carol, Kori, Vivian, Kurt, and Megan. He needs to get some guys who understand what he's going through. There were too many girls, minus Kurt, in the group.

"So, what's so important that you contacted all of us, Pete?" Carol wonders as they were all in his aunt's living room.

His mother and aunt had gone out for the day, saying she needed some time out of the city for a moment and May went to drop Mary off at the airport. Seems Fury warned to talk to her again and gave her a while before doing so, allowing her to grieve the loss of her husband.

"Okay...I don't really know how to explain this." Peter said as he rubbed his hands together. "I would have included Kara in this, but I don't think she wants to see me yet. Or she thinks I don't wanna see her!" He raised his voice as he looked around. "But I do!"

"Why are you raising your voice?" Kurt asks him.

"He wants Kara to listen in with her super hearing. But she's nowhere in the vicinity." Emma explains, already reading his mind.

"Didn't we talk about this?" Sophia asks her friend, trying to keep her voice down. "No reading other people's minds without permission."

"It's not my fault his mind is so easy to read." Emma defended her actions, none of them knowing she was actually hoping the reason for him calling her was more personal than a group meeting.

"Okay..." Peter sighed and looked around the room, eyeing the ceiling and taking his shoes off. "Here, it'll be better if I just showed you rather than explain.

That got their attention again as they watched Peter flip around and land on the ceiling, using his fingers and feet to stick to the ceiling. That got all of their attention as they were shocked that Peter had suddenly gained powers.

"Can someone...explain this to me?" Peter asks the group, hoping for answers.

Meanwhile, Rogue had flown both her and Kara back to the X-Mansion, as she wished to be flown back. She believed she should start getting back into the groove of life before she goes finally talked to Peter. She didn't really know what she was going to say to him when they saw each other again after everything that happened.

"Kara," Charles called as he rolled over with a sigh. "It is good to see you again."

"Professor." Kara greeted him with a smile. "Thank you for the time off."

"It was no trouble at all, dear," Charles promises her as he walked with her back into the school. "We all know what it's like to lose someone close. In fact, on that subject, we have two new residents I would like for you to meet."

"You do?" Kara was surprised to hear.

"Yes," Charles said as he rolled over to two new students who were sitting in chairs near the entrance. "Kara Parker, may I introduce to you...Nia Nal."

Nia Nal stood up as she seemed to recognize Kara and had a smile on her face. "Hi! I'm..it's an honor to meet you. I saw you save that plane on tv, it was spectacular!"

"Thanks." Kara chuckled as she realized only now she never really changed and was still in her Supergirl attire. She needed to be more careful with that in the future. "Nia Nal...nice name."

"Thanks. But...in the community, most people call me Dreamer. On account of my powers." Nia explains and got jittery. "I can...I can basically predict the future when I sleep."

"You can?" Kara was surprised to hear.

"They're hard to explain. I see things and get...vision like descriptions. They're sometimes vague, and hard to decipher. Sorts like a code." Nia did her best to explain it.

"That's amazing," Kara admitted and looked at the other girl. "Who's this?"

"Her names-" Charles was going to explain when she took it upon herself.

"I'm Pamela Isley. But most of the people I know call me Ivy." She introduced herself to Kara, still sitting and acting a bit more distant than Nia. "It's my favorite plant."

"Ms. Isley grew up a bit isolated in the hills, so she will take a bit of time before opening." Kara heard in her head, realizing it was Charles talking to her telepathically. "Please be patient with her. Her mother was killed by her father, and that's when she manifested her powers. She and her mother loved to garden, so that must be something to do with her powers.

"I understand." Kara thought so as not to confuse Pamela. "Okay, how about I give you girls the grand tour?"

----------------------

"So, a spider bite gave you these powers?" Sophia asks as Peter explains his origins. "That's pretty wicked. Did it hurt?"

"Not really," Peter stated as he and the group were making their way somewhere remote to test his powers. This was suggested by Carol and Kori as they both did the same thing before using their powers to help others. "This just happened overnight with no warning whatsoever."

"That's usually how it works with mutants." Sophia was sorry to inform him. "I know, it's a little scary at first. Trust me, I realized I could talk to animals, it was creepy. Don't get me wrong, I always loved animals! But that love completely changes when you can suddenly understand everything they're saying."

"Yeah, how does that work?" Peter wonders. "Does each animal sound different, or...?"

"It's hard to explain," Sophia admitted as she wondered how to explain it. "Not many animals register things as we do. They only indicate people by smell, scent, and even the way they walk. They can register when we call them, not the other way around."

Krypto then yipped, as they decided to bring him alone to not keep him home alone. Sophia looked over to Krypto and nodded her head as if she was just responding to what he said.

"Yes, exactly," Sophia tells the dog and looked at Peter. She saw he had a look of confusion on his face and was looking for an explanation. "Oh, he was saying that he calls you smelly skinny boy."

"Smelly skinny boy?" Peter asks as he looked at Krypto. "Really?"

Krypto whimpered as he just lay down in the alley, not paying attention to him.

"So... moving on," Carol said as she gestured for Peter to step ahead of them. "Time to see what you can do, Pete."

"Okay..." Peter did what they said and stepped forward. "So, how does this work? Train like Rocky?"

"No, we're gonna try a few numbers of different things," Vivian said as she was researching every paper Charles has written in his life. "Mutation is different with everyone. With you, you were bitten by a spider which gave you powers. Now it gave you a part of its DNA. Either a dormant genome of your DNA or something to do with the spider."

"So, I have spider blood?" Peter clarifies.

"More or less." Emma shrugged as she was hanging back. "But your mind...something seems to have changed with it."

"She's right, I can't even reach it as easily as I used to." Megan agreed with her. "It's like your mind became impenetrable from mind readers."

"Not saying you're invulnerable, it just means that it takes more effort," Emma warned him. "I still know what you're thinking."

"Well, how much do we think I got from the spider?" Peter asks them.

"Think fast," Carol said as she threw a trash can at her friend.

Peter shrieked and his hands moved out to catch the can, also ending up crushing it in the process. "Whoa..."

"Super strength. And a sixth sense." Vivian listed off his skills.

"Wait, if you gained the powers of spiders, what about climbing?" Kori asks as she gestured to the wall.

Peter became curious about that as he looked down at his hands and noticed some small hairs were starting to grow out of the hairs of his skin. If he has to guess, that was a type of setules, similar to what spiders use.

He got an idea and walked over to the brick wall on the side of the alley. When he placed his hand on it, they all stood back and watched as he started to climb up the wall. He took it slowly, taking it as calmly as he could just in case he slipped. But when he got a story up, he looked down to the ground to their shocked fades.

Peter however became ecstatic when he saw what he could do now. "Whooo!"

----------------------

And just like that, he was off running across the rooftops. Cheering as he ran and raced to make enough momentum to leap over the rooftops and land on each building's roof. He kept running across each roof whilst the mutants that could keep up tries their best to do so. Carol, Megan, Vivian, and Kori kept up using their powers to fly around him while Kurt kept teleporting across each rooftop.

Emma and Sophia ended up sticking behind them and in the alley as they couldn't keep up with them. The two of them looked up to where Peter left and was just talking about the recent development of the idea normal people can become mutants.

"I mean, if he could become a mutant, then there's a chance there's a dormant genome of the X-Gene in everyone." Sophia was thrilled with the idea.

"It's pretty cure. I mean impressive." Emma quickly stopped herself.

Sophia couldn't help but look at her friend with a confused look. "What, do you think Peter's cute?"

Emma quickly thought fast and knew a way where she could fix her little screwup. "No. You think he's cute."

Sophia shoved her friend and blushed a little, having no idea that Emma had just altered her thinking patterns. "Stop reading my mind."

"If it helps, he thinks you're adorable," Emma tells Sophia with a smile.

----------------------

In Washington, Mary was sitting across the desk of Nick Fury. He didn't know what to make of the time that he has had, let alone the thoughts of his agent. He lost one of the few people he knew he could trust. They were rescued by the same person twice...

"I'm sorry for Richard." Nick stared their conversation off as.

Mary rubbed her pregnant stomach and didn't know what she was there for. "What is it, Nick?"

"This girl... she saved you twice." Nick sighed and went to the reasons he called her in. "Some would say you have a Guardian Angel. But when the same Angel saves your life twice...there's a connection."

"What is it you're asking me?" Mary asks her boss.

"Witnesses say she's blonde. Short. Childlike." Nick recalled as he dropped a few blurry images that were taken of Kara. "I have to ask you...you know who she is?"

Mary would never turn Kara in as she knows what her boss was capable of. Kara may be indestructible, but there's no real chance that Fury won't find some sort of weakness and exploit it somehow.

Luckily she was saved when someone came running into the office in a panic. "Sir...you need to see this."

The two of them walked out of the office and walked over to the screens. They were now seeing the same thing that they were showing in the base. The ship was floating out of the atmosphere and slowly making its way toward earth.

That's when all of the lights started to flicker and shut off and screens started to glitch.

----------------------

In the School for Gifted Youngsters, the same thing was happening as Kara was showing Nia and Ivy around the school. She has just walked them over to the living area and gestured to the room. Kara also took the opportunity to speed change out of her suit, wearing more casual clothing to not show off her suit anymore.

"And this is where most of us hang out," Kara said as she gestured to the room. "Usually between classes or just at the start of the day, or a lot of times at the end of the day."

"Impressed," Ivy said sarcastically as their tv started to glitch and the lights went out. "And...now it's dark."

--------------

"That was incredible!" Peter said as he walked into the house with Krypto. "I mean, spectacular. It was...sensational. It felt as if my body was going to explode, but in the best way possible."

That's when the lights in his house also turned off, and the tv started to flicker.

"Uh...I know we paid the bill." Peter was wondering what was going on.

Then every screen around the world was showing the same message, repeating the same phrase.

"You are not alone."

Everyone around the world was hearing the same message, translated into every language. They were hearing the same message over and over, stuck on repeat.

"You are not alone."

That's when some figure came through the camera and only showed some sort of glitchy person that nobody could make out. Even Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark tried to get a visual of the man, but all they got was the same as everyone else.

"My name is General Zod. I come from a world far from yours. I have journeyed across an ocean of stars to reach you. For some time, your world has sheltered one of my citizens. I request that you return this individual to my custody. For reasons unknown, she has chosen to keep his existence a secret from you. She will have made efforts to blend in. She will look like you, but she is not one of you. To those of you who may know of her current location: the fate of your planet rests in your hands. To Kara Zor-El, I say this: surrender within twenty-four hours, or watch this world suffer the consequences..."

--------------

Then that's when the signal was cut off and all of the power and lights all around the world were turned back on. Nobody said a word for a good moment, nobody knowing what to expect or even what to say.

Kara on the other hand...recognized the voice. She knew that voice but didn't know how or why he was there.

"Zod..." Kara said in worry. "He's here."

"Who?" Rogue asks.

"He's bad news...and if he's here...something bad is going to go down," Kara said in worry. "I need to talk to my mother."

She flew off and quickly returned to her Fortress in the glaciers so that she could talk to her. She needed to know why and or how General Zod of Krypton could be here. He was banished to the Phantom Zone long before Krypton exploded or Kara escaped the planet.

"General Zod." Kara ran over to the hologram as it activated. "How can he be her?"

"General Zod?" Alura asks in worry. "He's here? Are you sure it's him?"

"His ship has parked itself in Earth's atmosphere." Kara cried as she gestured outside. "He's here. It's him. Announced himself to the world."

"What does he want?" Laura asks her daughter.

"Apparently, he wants me." Kara gestured to herself. "But I don't know why." But then Kara noticed the hologram and started to panic a little. Something she didn't know holograms could do. "Mother? Do you know?"

"How does he know?" Alura muttered to herself. "He couldn't have known."

"Know what?" Kara asks her.

"You are aware of the Codex?"

"The Kryptonian artifact that decodes the genetic makeup of the artificially incubated babies on the planet," Kara recalled the old device. "I thought it wasn't used in centuries. What about it?"

"It's what we put in your pod," Alura explains to her daughter. "It was the only source of energy that could have made the trip from Krypton to Earth. And in the process, it was what was keeping you alive in the process."

"What?" Kara asked in shock.

"If Zod wishes to steal the Codex, he'd have the power to..." Alura was worried about what she was saying.

"To do what?" Kara asks in worry.

"Transform Earth and just any planet he wishes into the new Krypton," Alura answered.

"And if I don't turn myself in?" Kara wonders.

"With his ship, he has the power to wipe out the planet," Alura answered.

This wasn't what she hoped to hear today. She started to walk around and try to come up with an idea. "What if I surrendered and convinced him to leave Earth? Find a new planet to transform?"

"Zod isn't someone to reason with," Alura warned her daughter. "He will endure Krypton's safety under any circumstances. No matter who stands in his way."

"Then I have to try and at least reason with him," Kara stated, wondering what she can do. "I can help him find another world for our people. I can't let him hurt my friends or family. Even if I have to fight him and die doing so."

"This decision is yours to make...I can't stop you even if I wished." Alura sighed.

But she knew she needed to say goodbye to a few people.

"Peter... I need to talk to him." Kara whispered.

However this was going to go, she had just a day to get her bearings together in case she either had to leave with Zod or fight and finish this.
