Dramatic entrance

Kara was pacing around the living room of May's home as Peter was still resting. He had stopped grunting and groaning, now he was just resting. Kara even did a quick search through his blood and saw that things had calmed down as a biological structure. May had to step out for a moment and left the two of them alone with the dog. Kara knew that there was nothing that she couldn't protect them from if anything were to even happen.

Or so she thought.

Krypto started to growl and snarl at the door, getting Kara to look at him and away from Peter. Krypto then starts barking, getting Kara worried and did a quick X-Ray scan of the outside and didn't see anyone around.

"There's nothing out there, boy," Kara tells the dog as she walked over, petting the dog. "We're safe."

BANG!

Kara's ears, already in overdrive, were injured by the sudden noise. But then her brain went into overdrive as she blasted out the door and ripped her clothes off, revealing her Supergirl suit underneath it. As soon as she left and the gunshot went off, Peter gasped awake and looked to see the clothing pile on the floor.

A few moments ago, Richard and Mary had just arrived from the airport and were making their way to May's house. Paying off the taxi driver, they made their way down the street toward the home. They got back sooner than expected, as they weren't expecting how half of the trip turned out. They were attacked, the plane almost crashed, and their daughter came and saved them in a super suit.

It was an odd Saturday, to say the least.

But their problems weren't over yet when they saw someone coming in the opposite direction of them. When the two of them intersected, the man pulled a gun out on them. Richard and Mary froze as he was too far to hit the gun out of his hands, not wanting to set the man off.

"Wallet. Now." He demanded of them.

Richard then nodded, seeing nothing that they can do. "Okay. Just stay calm. Nobody has to get hurt." Richard says as he took out his wallet. "Take it."

"Drop it." He tells the man.

Richard does as he says as the criminal picks it up. "My boss sends his regards."

"What?" Mary suddenly got worried.

The man then shot off the gun, facing it towards Mary as the bullet made its way over towards her. Richard didn't even have any time to react to jump in the way of it as the bullet flew through the air.

But that didn't stop Kara as she flew through the street at her highest speed to save them. The bullet had just made it halfway to Mary when Kara landed in between the two of them. To her and everyone's shock, the bullet deflected and bounced off of Kara, giving off that her skin is indeed stronger than a bullet.

The mugger seemed to recognize her and ended up running. Kara was about to blast after him when he heard a groan. Looking over at Richard, she noticed that he was clutching his chest in pain.

"Richard!" Mary cried in terror as she ran over and held her husband.

Kara sped and ignored the criminal to save her father. She used her powers to see where the bullet penetrated. But she was scared when she found that the bullet had penetrated his heart.

Even if she were to rescue and get him to a hospital, there was no possibility of saving his life.

"No, no, no!" Kara muttered as she dropped to her knees and teared up at what happened.

The man who shot him started to race down the street as Kara grew angry and blasted down the street. Going at full speed across the street, she grabbed the man who shot him and grew in anger. Her eyes glowed red as she was ready to scorch the man.

"Where do you think you're going?!" Kara asked him, ready to end him. "You shot a man and thought that you could just walk away?!"

"No..." Richard whispered, getting Kara's attention. "Don't..."

Kara looked towards the man who shot the bullet and back toward Richard. She wasn't going to kill him. No matter how much she wished she could. No matter how much she wants to burn him to a crisp. No matter how much she wants to crush his throat like a twig.

Going with the only thing she could do, Kara punched the man and knocked him out. Not using her super strength as that would have instantly killed him. Even though she would instantly have been okay with that outcome.

"Honey, stay with me." Mary pleaded as she held her husband. "Stay with me."

"Kara..." Richard groaned as he tried to get her attention. "Sweetie."

Kara crawls and kneels to hold Richard's hand. "Yes. I'm here."

"Peter...you two...look after each other..." Richard asks of her. "He'll need you...and you'll need him...promise me...you'll use this power..."

But whatever he was going to say was interrupted by his final breath. His hand went numb and fell out of Kara's grasp and onto the ground. Mary immediately broke down into tears as she leaned down and cradled her deceased husband. Kara broke down as she lets the tears flow at the loss of her second father.

Peter got the news the next day after whatever was going on with him finally passed. Little did he know what occurred to him would change his life forever.

Peter, May, and Mary stood in the rain as they were now looking at the coffin holding their loved one. A few others who knew the family showed up, including the Vision family, Carol, Kori, Megan, and even Emma and Sophia showed up.

The one person who didn't show up?

Kara was there alright. But she didn't want to be near the family after what happened. It was her fault that he was killed. She used herself as a shield when she could have just as easily caught that bullet. But here she was, watching the ceremony from a distance, listening to every word that was said about him and letting out a few tears.

Peter somehow knew where Kara was and looked up to see her in her Supergirl uniform. Kara noticed him looking at her and just couldn't find it in herself to reveal herself. Turning around, she flew off as fast as she could, under the cover of the rain to stay invisible.

Kara flew as far away as she could as fast as she could. Not even going back to the X-Mansion, Kara found herself back at the North Pole and skidding to a stop inside her Fortress of Solitude. As soon as she got there, she let out an ear-piercing cry of pain and anger. Punching the crystallized ground in anger and agony.

A few days after that, Peter was back in school like nothing changed. Except a lot of things have changed. The last time he walked through these halls, he was a boy who had both of his parents. Now he lives with a widowed mother, who is focusing more on the baby yet to be born.

Peter was back at his locker, getting some of his books for the day's lessons. When he got what he needed, he tried to close the door, but it kept swinging back open. Becoming easily frustrated by the remark, he pushed and slammed the door again.

A few students noticed what he was doing, ignored him, and moved along. But a few of his friends, Megan to be more specific, walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Peter?" Megan tried to calm her friend down.

Peter slammed the door and managed to finally close it. "What?"

"It's okay," Megan said, turning Peter around to pull him in for a hug. "It's okay."

Peter just broke down and returned the gesture. He just felt so broken, didn't know what he was going to do now without his father.

Then his head buzzed, his body acted on instinct, and his hand reached out and grabbed a ball that was thrown down the hall. Megan backed off after feeling something off with her own head when she got too close to Peter and noticed what he did.

"Whoa," Megan commented as someone took the ball back. "Nice catch."

Peter looked down at his hand and was confused by what had just happened. "Thanks?"

Back at the School for Gifted Youngsters, Charles was strolling down the halls and opened the doors to Kara and Rogue's room. When he entered the room, he saw that it was empty, and both the girls were gone. He could feel Rogue's presence on the school ground, but there was still no sign of Kara.

Charles knew what it was like to lose a loved one, but there is no reason to have to suffer through that alone. And it seems only one person on the ground can help her right now.

"Rogue." Charles found the girl in the yard of the school. "May I speak to you?"

"Sure, Professor." Rogue guessed and walked with him through the grounds. "What's wrong?"

"I am worried for Ms. Parker," Charles explains to her. "And I believe that you are the only person who is capable of getting into contact with her. You must know where she is."

Rogue sighed and was considering it herself, seeing as something must have happened to her friend. "I might know where. But I can't tell you."

"I do not wish to know; I wish for you to go find her," Charles explains to her what he's saying. "She needs a friend."

"But...what about school?" Rogue asks.

"You need to be there for your friend. The school will be here when you return." Charles assured her.

Rogue nodded and saw he had a point. Not to mention that he's the principal telling her to get going. Running her way outside, she quickly leaped into the air and made her way toward the Fortress.

The next morning, Peter was awoken by his alarm, and he reacted by swinging his fist around his bed and immediately crushing the alarm with one swing before going back to bed.

Later on, Peter finally got up and started to use the bathroom, going to brush his teeth when he squeezed the paste too hard somehow and sent it spraying on the mirror.

Peter took no meaning and was too tired to care about that. He just wiped some off and went to activate the water. Except he somehow lightly tapped it, causing the handle to come off and water to explode everywhere.

Peter reacted and tried to reattach the handle, and when that didn't work, he just ended up placing the towels on top of it. Trying to get out to fix it, Peter grabbed the door handle and just ended up breaking it off.

Peter was starting to get a lot more confused by what was going on when he looked down at the dog who was watching everything. He then gestured to the door handle and towel on the sink.

"Don't say a word," Peter demanded of Krypto.

Krypto just whimpered as he laid back down.

Trying it again with the second handle, Peter carefully opened the door and sneaked out to get the tools so he could repair the bathroom before his mom discovered it. She already had too much on her mind and plate, he definitely wasn't going to add this faulty occurrence to it. Krypto just laid there and was content with just watching whatever happen unfold.

Rogue flew around the North Pole, feeling that she should have brought a jacket or something for the cold weather. She just needed to figure out where the Fortress of Solitude was in the cold darkness of the icebergs everywhere. Recognizing a gaping hole in the side of the mountain, she flew into it and found Kara curled up in a dark corner of the fortress wearing her super suit.

Kara didn't even flinch at the sudden appearance of her friend, most likely as she must have known she was coming. She just sat there as Rogue came over and sat next to her friend, pulling her in for a hug. Kara started to tear up and sob whilst being held by her friend.

Peter was sitting on his bed, it being the weekend he started to just sit there on his bed and take in his surroundings. Everything felt off. Everything was right. But everything still sounded wrong.

He felt something tingle up the back of his head and he looked to see a spider crawling around on his desk. That's when he started to feel something and reached behind him and noticed there was something attached to his neck.

Pulling it free, he flinched from the pain as he brought it up and revealed it to be a spider.

"What?"

Harry Lennix was alerted of a sudden disturbance in the upper atmosphere and quickly entered the military base. Once inside, he saw everyone was starting to panic and he saw the screens had an oddly shaped object circled.

"What's going on?" Harry asks all of them. "What am I looking at? Comet? Asteroid?"

Comets don't make course corrections, General." One of the men was sorry to say. "We wanted you to see this before some amateur with a telescope found it and caused a panic. The ship seems to have interred itself into a lunar synchronous orbit, though I have no idea why."

"Have you tried making contact?" Harry asks.

"We haven't gotten any responses back yet."

"I'm going to take a wild guess...that whoever's at the helm of that thing is looking to make a dramatic entrance." Harry took a wild guess.

Oh, how right he was.
