A growing universe
Washington, D.C.
"Today marks a momentous day in human history." The President declared as all of the heroes were lined up outside the White House, all except Hulk who was currently returned into Bruce Banner, and he was in for a shock after learning everything he went through. "In our darkest hour, these heroes donned their costumes-"
"Costumes? This is my uniform." Hal muttered.
"Quiet." Bruce demanded of him.
"Oh, now you wanna bark orders?" Hal asked him. "After I did all the heavy lifting and pulled everyone together."
"You're referring to when you followed my simple directives and Captain America lead the charge with Wonder Woman?" Bruce asked him.
"I really hate you, Bats." Hal scoffed.
"I can't believe people are no longer afraid of us." Diana said happily.
"Or that they think we're a team." Steve commented. "But I am pleased to have met you people."
"Yes, it was good to walk among a pantheon again." Diana agree.
"A what?" Clint asked with a new pair of sunglasses. He has like ten of them on standby.
"A group of respected or important people gathered together." Bruce Banner explained to him.
"Oh, okay." Clint said sarcastically.
"Is it by chance, by fate, or are there bigger forces at work? Is our modern technological age-" the President continued on.
"I gotta admits, this is kinda strange." Tony confessed. "Never thought it'd be here with people as crazy as me to dawn these kinda suits."
"You are crazy." Bruce commented.
"Said the normal guy dressed like a vampire." Tony replied.
"Ha!" Hal was happy with that comment.
"Come on, guys, what's the harm in working together?" Natasha asked them. "It'll keep half of law enforcement off our backs."
"We are not friends. And were surely not a team." Hal stated.
"I don't know, I kinda like being a part of something. And I have a feeling we haven't seen the end of universal threats." Tony informed him.
"Please. What could possibly happen?" Hal asked him.
"That said, I'm very pleased to introduce..." the President stopped and turned to face the team. "I didn't ask, you guys have a name?"
Clint raised a brow and turned to the others as he was the closest to the President. "Anyone got any ideas?"
"I might." Natasha said with a smirk, remembering what Fury asked to call them before the ceremony. "The Ultimates."
"The Ultimates?" Bruce asked.
"That's ridiculous." Steve commented.
"I kinda like it." Diana confessed.
------------------------
Fury was watching the whole thing from aboard the Helicarrier as someone approached him.
"You think this isn't the last of that being, Jones?" Fury asks the man to his right who was John Jones.
"They said she identified as Kryptonian. I found her hiding out somewhere in New York. I'm going to see what I can find on." John informed him.
"See what you can find that my men can't." Fury confirmed.
-----------------------
Down in upstate New York, the Parker family took the trip together up to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters and they drove up to the doors and got out together.
Kara looked up at the school, shocked at its size and even more when she saw just how many people were here.
Peter was also just as amazed as he never saw so many mutants in the same place.
"I'm not gonna lie, I'm gonna miss you." Peter confessed to Kara with a sad smile.
Kara smiled and pulled Peter in for a hug. "I'm gonna miss you, too. But we'll still see each other, right? I'll come home and spend every weekend with you guys."
"We'll be looking forward to it." Mary promised and pulled Kara in for a hug and kissed her daughter.
"You want us to walk you in?" Richard asked.
"No, I'll be all right." Kara promised as she grabbed her suitcase. "I...I'm so happy for everything you've ever done for me. And...I...I can't thank you enough for helping me try and fit in, but...I need to learn to control these powers correctly. Until then, I'm dangerous. I could accidentally sneeze and blast half of the Statue of Liberty to China."
"We'll see you then, Kara." Richard guessed and kissed his adopted daughter on the head. "I hope they can help you better than we could."
"And, hey, if you see Sue again, tell her thank you for me." Kara asked of them as she walked up the steps of the school and took a quick second glance back at her family with a sad smile as she stepped into the school where she was met with Charles waiting with Jean.
"Hello, Kara. Welcome to the School for the Gifted." Charles told her and began to turn around. "Please, follow me."
---------------------------
Outside, one of Charles' other students, Anna Marie, was leaning against a tree and reading a book when she saw the new girl walking with the Professor.
"The first step in understanding one's powers is learning the extent of it." Charles informed Kara. "Only then can we begin the process of teaching you how to control it. If you decide to stay, I can promise you that by the time you want to leave, you'll be able to go back to the real world and be as normal as you wish. Maybe even use your gift to help others."
"Well, I've learned I have quite the roster of powers." Kara confessed as she scratched her hearing aids. "They're...they're quite powerful."
"Well, why don't you take off your glasses and see what we're dealing with." Charles supposed and gestured to a target across the lake. "See that target? Try and use it as a...well, a target. See what we're dealing with."
Kara looked afraid and closed her eyes as she removed the glasses and immediately felt the heat growing from within her already. This whole thing was getting Anna's attention as she closed her book and was curious to what abilities this girl has.
"It's quite all right, Kara." Charles comforted her. "There's nothing-"
He was interrupted by Kara opening her eyes and two small beams of red scorched their way across the lake, causing the two to jump in shock and several of the other students nearby to run away in fear.
Kara tried to direct the beam to the target the best she could, but she ended up destroying the target on contact, followed by scorching the ground and even pierced straight through a tree before finally getting her eyes to close.
Anna was shocked by the immense of power Kara had and watched as she immediately placed her glasses back on and waited for the heat to cool down whilst Charles was laughing.
"My grandfather planted that tree when he was five years old." Charles confessed whilst the tree then split in two. "I used to swing from the branches of it. That was probably my favorite tree."
"Do...does that mean I'm expelled?" Kara asked curiously.
"On the contrary, Ms. Parker, you're enrolled." Charles told her with a smile and lead her past Anna. "Rogue, this is Kara. She's going to be coming to our school."
"Hey there, saw that little stunt over there." Anna stated as she gestured to the lake and Kara blushed. "Kinda remind me of Scott's gift a little."
"Uh...is that a compliment?" Kara asked, not sure how to take it as she never met any Scott before.
"Meh, depends on who you ask, sugah." Anna said before holding out her hand. "Names Anna Marie. But everyone here calls me Rogue."
"I'm Kara." Kara said and held her hand out to shake.
"Rogue, Kara will be going to our school to learn how to control her unique set of abilities." Charles tells her. "And she'll be your roommate, if that's all right with you."
"Yeah, sure. That sounds like fun." Rogue said happily. "Come on, I'll show you to our room."
Kara then followed her and was lead back inside and sees that maybe this'll actually be a better experience than she gave credit for.
---------------------
Peter was back at his school and looked at the board of people for teachers and students who were killed in the invasion. He looked and saw that one of the people was Tyrone.
One of the only people who talked and actually liked him, and he was one of the many who were taken away. Peter sighed as he had no idea what he was going to do now with Kara also gone. Carol seemed to have also moved due to her family's home being destroyed in the destruction.
Peter then heard something getting smacked and turned to see it was someone trying to open a locker. She was about Peter's height had a headband in her hair which was light auburn and the same color eyes.
She sighed in anger and tried to pull it open as Peter approached her. "Need some help?"
She turned to face Peter, giving him a look at her light brown eyes. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind."
Peter walked up and lifted the door a bit before looking at her combination and got the door to open for her. "Yeah, the doors are kinda old. This school doesn't believe in fixing it."
"Thanks for the help." She said as she placed a few books in her locked and held a hand out to Peter. "I'm Megan Morse."
"Peter Parker." Peter greeted and took her hand and shook it. "So, I'm guessing you're new here?"
"Yeah, my uncle dragged me out here because of his job." Megan sighed. "Only the third or fourth time this month."
"Really? What does he do?" Peter was curious to know.
"He's in the military." Megan answered and looked at her schedule. "Hey, do you happen to know where I need to know?"
Peter looked down at her sheet and saw they had a few of the same classes. "Oh, looks like we have some of the same classes together. Come on, I'm heading there now."
"Thank you." Megan said and followed Peter as he and her headed to class.

Back in the School for Gifted Youngsters, Rogue brought Kara to their room and carried her suitcase inside.
"So this is our room, roomie." Rogue tells Kara as she walks Kara over to the bed across the room and she sits down. "So, when did you get your powers?"
Kara looked scared to tell her and Rogue seem to have noticed it.
"Come on, I'll tell you my story if you tell me yours." Rogue promised her.
Kara looked scared to lose an actual chance of a friend but decides to go for it. "Okay...but promise me you'll listen to the whole story."
"Sure." Rogue promises.
"I'm...I'm not a mutant like the rest of you." Kara confesses.
"Then w'at are you?" Rogue wonders.
"I'm...I'm an alien." Kara confesses and is just waiting for the reaction.
Rogue looked a little confused before chuckling and waited for Kara to laugh too but saw nothing coming. "Wait...are...are ya serious?"
"Yeah..." Kara confessed.
"Well, I didn't see that coming." Rogue confesses.
"I came from a planet called Krypton. It was destroyed and my parents sent me here so I could live." Kara explains to her.
"So, is that how the professor found you?" Rogue asks.
"No...he actually found me with my adoptive family. The Parker's. They were the people who found me and took care of me." Kara explains. "And when I discovered I had powers, they helped me figure out how to stop them from hurting anyone. But when the professor came, we all thought it'd be best if I learned to control them."
"So...what other powers do you have?" Rogue was curious to know.
"Uh...heat vision, as you obviously saw. I learned I have some sort of X-Ray vision. I accidentally saw through my adopted mother's skin once...it was haunting. I once accidentally sneezed and froze our dinner, so some sort of cold breath. Flight, still getting the hang of long distance travel. Super hearing, I can hear a dog barking from a mile away. And I think a little bit of super speed. I mean, I once raced down the street and slammed into a brick wall."
"Wow, girl, you are stacked!" Rogue commented with shock.
"So, how about you?" Kara asks.
"Uh...I'm not as powerful as you, but I can absorb other people's powers." Rogue informed her and gestured to her gloved hands. "That's why I wear these. I can't make contact with anyone else's skin without them falling into a coma like state. When I discovered that out, I was making out with my first boyfriend...put him in the hospital for a while."
"Wow." Kara whispered.
"Yeah, it's kinda annoying, but I learned to live with it. Especially with my other gift. It's like when I absorb their powers, I also absorb their memories. I see...moments of their life, to the point I sometimes forget who I'm supposed to be." Rogue informed her.
"I'd imagine." Kara understood.
---------------
Back in Midtown, Peter was sitting alone at lunch as sadly he didn't have that with Megan, who seemed like a nice girl, kinda shy, but sweet.
He was so lost in thought of what Kara's probably doing at her school of super powered teenagers, he didn't notice the other blonde approaching and sitting in front of him and staring him down.
Peter looked and was seriously confused by what Carol Danvers wants from him and has a serious look of anger on his face.
"What did I do?" Peter asked her in complete confusion.
"You weren't honest with where Kara came from, were you?" Carol asked as a more of a matter of fact than question.
"What...are you talking about?" Peter asked her in fear.
Carol then looked around and saw nobody was looking and saw a trash can. Quickly, she shot a blast of energy from her fist and scorched the trash, shocking Peter once again in the process.
"Yeah, turns out I can do that, and much more, ever since I tried to save your sister from an alien invasion." Carol commented and Peter was surprised that nobody is noticing the scorched trash can Carol created. "Now...who is she?"
"All right, you want the full story...let's start from the beginning." Peter guessed and knew this would be a long story.
-------------------
After school, Peter and Carol were walking home, and he was finishing up explaining Kara to her.
"So...Kara's an alien? Like a real alien?" Carol asked Peter.
"Yep...I found her in the rocket myself." Peter confirmed when they heard something rattle in the alley they were passing.
"What's that?" Carol asked as the two of them walked down the alley. "Hello?"
"Who's there?" Peter asked when they saw the familiar orange skinned girl from before. "Hello."
"Tium fler milung?" The girl asked, confusing the two of them.
"Uh...was that Chinese?" Peter asked Carol.
"I have no idea what that was." Carol confesses.
The girl then sighed before grabbing Peter and pulling him into a kiss, shocking the two of them.
The girl finally broke it off and let's Peter go. "Ah, now that's better. As I was trying to say, my name is Koriand'r. I'm from Tamaran...at least I was." She then looked sad and down to the ground. "My world was conquered, by my sister, Komand'r and took the throne by force."
"Okay, but hat doesn't explain why you just kissed my friend." Carol stated as she gestured to the still shocked Peter.
"Right, I apologize. My kind can learn languages by kissing." Koriand'r explains to them. "Or making skin to skin contact."
"Huh...useful." Peter stated.
"I'll bet." Carol stated jokingly. "So...have you just been living on the streets?"
"I...I didn't have anywhere else to go." Koriand'r tells them sadly.
The two kids then strolled a few feet away, hoping she can't hear them while they talk.
"So...now what?" Carol asked.
"Hey, my house already has a powerful alien living in it." Peter informed her while raising his hands. "My home is full enough as it is."
"Well, we can't just leave her here." Carol stated.
"Hey, didn't your sister recently move out?" Peter asked with a raised brow.
"Yeah, and if their relationship's any indication, we won't be seeing Alex or my mom in the same room for a while." Carol stated.
"And isn't she out of town?" Peter asks.
"Yeah, supposed to be back next week." Carol confirmed.
"So if we were to say...call her a foreign exchange student, say she's staying in your home, she wouldn't notice?" Peter asked her, causing Carol to smack herself, should've seen that coming.
"Okay, you know what, why not? What's the worst that could happen?" Carol guessed with a sigh and turned to face Koriand'r. "Okay, I guess you can stay with me for a few days and see if we can find you somewhere else."
"Thank you! I will try and be not a burden on you." Koriand'r promises.
"Also, we're not gonna be calling you Koriand'r the whole time, so we'll call you Kori." Carol warned her.
"Kori? I like it." Koriand'r guesses.
