Chapter 7 Short chapter

Chapter 7 Last one out turn off the lights.

Location Washington DC

Whisky Hotel AKA the White House

POV 1st Inheritor Bryan K, Peterson

Alias Captain Bryan

March 19th 20XX

Sweat dripped from my already tired head. Could I end this by using tech and equipment I brought with me. Well yes but what grew from every hour grew to every second of whether or not I should use it. For a month now we held onto the white house and for a month bodies have piled up. It got so bad that last week a cease fire was agreed upon just to remove the field of dead bodies around the white house... As well as reset our bearings. It was the first time we interacted with our enemy face to face.

I can remember vividly the looks of horror and disgust as they looked at me. I haven't looked in a mirror in a month, but I bet that I looked like shit, Smelt like death, and I felt like I've been hit by several bolter rounds. Yes, that particular universe still gives me nightmares.

The situation had deteriorated to the point that soldiers have started rationing water. The most desperate were drinking their own urine or boiling it. At the rate we were losing men though we would all be dead by either tomorrow or the day after.

Luckily, we the past month we managed to find our escape route problem it was about four hundred feet underground and the way out. Well, it was an old train system to escape the capitol in a emergency. So while men were dying upstairs men were clearing the debris and making sure the path out was clear.

Once everyone was on board me and a few other volunteers agreed to stay behind and... Deny Whisky Hotel to the enemy via explosive means.

I walked to a computer where the countdown would start, we had set the explosives now all that was needed was the fuse.

"Sir all the explosives have been double, and triple checked." A solider reported.

"All the traps are set!" Another solider reported.

"And I gathered the remaining usable ammunition into the left wing choke point as you requested."

I nodded and looked at the three soldiers who volunteered.

All three were wounded in some way. One had his left hand blown off but his other hand was still functional. The next solider was missing his left eye and his right ear had been shot off. The last solider was missing several teeth and a few fingers from each hand. Me the invulnerable cannot die solider. Well, I had my escape planned as soon as all three died and backup plans if things went south.

"Okay gentlemen once I start the countdown it cant be stopped are we ready?" An enthusiastic Ooh aah later*

I initiated the countdown sequence, and we left the room but not before we burned the entire room to a crisp with thermite. We made our way through the maze of debris and bodies to our chokepoint where we waited for the next assault. I kneeled and prayed to god hoping he could hear my prayers through all this.

POV Captain Adrianna Hendricks United States of North America

USNA Headquarters Washington Monument

"Ma'am the defenders of the white house they are nearly defeated!" One of the privates came in joy in her voice.

The entire office stopped and looked at her as if she was crazy which she probably was.

"Explain!" I stated firmly.

"We've cleared most of the white house it seems the remaining defenders have set up in a chokepoint in the left wing. Our flag is flying over the white house as we speak!"

I walked outside to confirm and pulled out my binoculars and sure as shit our flag waved where the former USA flag once flew.

Zzt* Command be advised we managed to capture the last solider the rest are dead orders? Zzt*

My radio buzzed. I couldn't believe it we won. After a month of death and destruction we won!

"Bring that survivor to me and start cleaning up the white house for the generals arrival!"

Zzt* Yes ma'am! Zzt*

I could hear the shouts of joy and jubilation at our victory and I soaked it all in.

A few minutes later.

A solider was brought in on a stretcher he was completely knocked out as he didn't move an inch even when punched. Half our soldiers had half a mind to beat him to death once he woke up. I knew however he could be useful and ordered no harm be done to him. The general can have him as spoils and maybe we can finally move on.

Several news crews had entered the building along with munitions and bomb squad specialists to clean up the ordinance it would be a long and tricky endeavor. However, it would be a major moral and strategic victory for us one of many long overdue.

A Blackhawk flew overhead and landed nearby and from it emerged general Tabatha Paige General of the USNA.

End dossier*

The General and her honor guard walked directly up to me. We saluted each other and she looked me up and down.

"Glad to see your alive I've come to take over the situation here." The general said firmly.

"Yes general I assume you heard of our victory?"

The general raised her eyebrows.

"Your telling me you secured the white house?"

"Yes just a few minutes ago in fact we even have a present for you." I said waving my hand towards the knocked out solider on the stretcher.

"Hmm that's odd they have never pulled out like this before what could th-" The generals eyes widened before she spoke quickly.

"Evacuate the white house now!" She yelled into the open com channel.

"Ma'am what is going on!" I was lost what had shook her up so badly to make her act so erratic.

"Get your soldiers out now the white house is gonna."

An explosion rocked the ground as the ground shook, and we flew on our backs from the shock.

We got up and looked at the smoldering crater that was the white house everything around it was burned. And the foundation had collapsed on itself. What wasn't obliterated was charred black.

We were stunned they not only blew up the white house but everything underneath it and around it. Parts of buildings less then a quarter mile away from the White House buildings borders were blown inward. The soldiers quickly scrambled to regain their bearings.

"Why the?" Was all I could say in awe of what I saw

"The white house is lost we may have lost this one, but they lost an important strategic center of operations."

"You two bind him hands and feet and load him into the chopper I got some questions for him." Her honor guard saluted grabbed the solider tied him up and carried him to the chopper.

"Gather your girls take stock of the damage and losses." The general said swiftly before turning.

"Ma'am do you want my resignation?" Was all I could muster feelings of guilt and failure whirled in my gut.

The general stopped and turned around her red eyes looked into mine. Her composure and face softened, and she sighed.

"No this is a new trick even for me they have never utterly destroyed a defensive position in this matter. Sure they blew up and set on fire anything they couldn't take when abandoning bases but..." Her voice trailed off.

"Its not your fault gather your soldiers and await further orders you're dismissed." The general said before turning around not looking back went into her chopper and took off leaving Washington DC behind.

I walked towards the crater to help with search and rescue of whatever was left if anyone was left.
