POV Pvt. Brianna L, Pearson
United States of North America
Washington Memorial Emergency Command center

"Why?"
Was the question running through our minds as we assessed and repaired the now captured command center. The pattering of rain against the canvas tents and muddied ground.
The bodies of the fallen men were lined on the walls and stacked three high now due to the shear amount of bodies and body parts. The rain not helping to clean the already gory mess that was these gun positions and even the stacked bodies. Questions of why running though all our minds.
'Why would you fight hopeless odds knowing you would lose?'
'Why continue when your loss is inevitable?'
'Why die when you can live an albeit different life?"
'Why do you cling to your old ways of thinking?'
'Why do you continue when your sitting at deaths door?'
All these question and more buzzed through the minds of these new recruits. The air was full of tension as more bodies kept being brought to the wall to be stacked.
With each body they stacked was another man wasted who we could not find as a potential lover.
Male stubbornness and even their fanaticism to die rather than surrender has shocked the world In many ways. Some surrendered peacefully but far too many chose to fight back leaving behind their home and their work and even their own families. The male species as we now call them have to many adults, teens and even some children running into the hills or just outright hiding in the havens set up on islands all over the world the militaries of the world seem to find islands particular helpful and they aren't wrong.
The now former president of the United States of America had prevented them from taking over the worlds strongest and most powerful navy and as if he knew had navel bases set up in secret on islands all over the pacific and in many different locations in the Atlantic. When everything went down 95% of the U.S. navy was surprisingly out at sea with enough supplies to keep themselves armed and fed for months.
Many of the seamen took their sons with them and as such many of those who had loved them are crushed that they were stripped from them before they could confess their feelings.
I joined because they needed personnel and they took "HIM" from me. The so called US Army took him before I could get him to love me back. Breaking into our home and untying him from his chair. I did nothing wrong I needed him to understand that I love him and that he needs me.
"We got a live one!" We all turned our heads to a badly wounded "Solider" he was moaning in pain as he was being carried by stretcher bearers to the nearby emergency tent. I was about to go back to go back to sorting through the dog tags trying to find "HIS" name when.
BANG
We all hit the ground out of instinct and I looked in horror towards the now damaged emergency tent he had killed himself and took out everyone in the tent if I had to guess.
Me and three others ran towards the tent regardless to see if anyone survived.
The inside of the tent was splattered red in blood and tissue the grenade had killed everyone inside we had other wounded in here and he killed them all.
'Why do you do this cant you see all we want to do is love you?'
'Why do you continue to fight when your friends are dying and dead around you?'
'What compels you to hate us so much that you would rather take death over treatment.'
"Jesus!"
"Ma'am!" I saluted my superior officer as she looked at a particular dead nurse.
She said nothing as she went to the body of the dead nurse and lifted her up.
"Gabriel you did not deserve this." More and more soldiers were peering through the tent at the captain as she gripped her fallen friend.
"Private you were in the area what happened."
"Um ma'am I don't quite understand are you talking to me?"
"Yes, what happened."
"From what I can guess the captured solider they brought in had a grenade and pulled the pin as soon as he was put down."
Silence besides the pattering of rain and gunfire that filled the background.
"Everyone fortify this position and start stripping soldiers as they come in, I don't care if they are in pain."
"Yes, ma'am!"
We all looked up at the sky now thundering the storm worsening. We were told that if enough of them died they would surrender now Im not so sure they seem resolute ready to die. Were men always like this? If so, how far will have to push them till they submit or worse till they push us to submit.

Sit Rep Washington DC
"For every inch they make them pay for it in their blood ooh aah!" A United States Army commander yelled as soldiers screamed the battle cry peering out of the destroyed windows and makeshift fortifications. They stood surrounded in the U.S. Agriculture building alone cut off with no hope of escape or rescue. The US flag flew high and proud ripped and torn in some place but standing.
The attack came again the most intense, yet they came with shields a new tactic to try and get close enough to shoot tear gas at them. It never did anything but piss of the soldiers since it hurt visibility, they were all in full chemical warfare gear.
Screams and curses rang from the lone building surrounded on all sides by enemies. a portion of the united states 3rd infantry regiment was pushed all the way to the U.S. Agriculture building where other militia and even gang members had taken refuge. Men and teens from all walks of life stood shoulder to shoulder with the old guard content to hold the line or die as a man who defended his freedom.
The sheer cost of life in just the siege of the U.S. Agricultural building was disgusting and lowered the overall moral of the new United Stated of North America's army the sheer willpower alone stumped and stopped thousands from taking what should have been simple objectives. Many of the new recruits were sent thinking they would be welcomed only to meet war in its most gruesome.
The men of the Old Guard stood staunch defenders outnumbered and outgunned and yet the old guard held the line. Arlington cemetery was taken but still with just upwards of one thousand dead and wounded to the one hundred defenders some armed with rifles that were used during the first world war no less. Even so the new army trudged through skirmish after skirmish only to meet defenders that never seemed to die.
Some men were still fighting at the windows missing an eye or even a limb being assisted by another solider. The skirmishes continued anyway the attackers now just hoping the defending soldiers would surrender due to the amount of wounded and dead piling up on their side.
The reason that buildings like the department of agriculture and Whitehouse weren't blown to kingdom come is more than just "They are important buildings" they stand as a testament of the previous countries strength and if they capture it they were hoping to demoralize the men to a point where they would surrender. Now however many are wondering if these buildings are even worth taking the bodies are piling up and with little to show for it the USNA or United States of North America were in a predicament. Worse the video execution of a solider who clearly was lost in more ways then one angered the USA's armed forces and strengthened the resolve of other countries armed forces.

World wide status update
Worldwide this supposed quick transition has turned into a bloody and gory gender war. Many females don't even know how to operate the vehicles left behind by their countries militaries as men usually handled these jobs sure they could fix and even operate them but their weren't nearly enough to counter the raw experience of the worlds different militaries combat experience in the field. Many of the newer recruits weren't properly trained mentally and quickly fell apart in combat running away from their positions, freezing, curling up into a ball in fear among other things.
The men and even boys who fought seemed to be more immune to the stress of combat and even had less qualms with killing in viscous and brutal ways compared to the women not that it made them any less lethal.
Even with situation going on the worlds supply lines were cut and disorganized all over the place but with the help of the "Warden" The military and militias were able to scrape by but in many cities and towns that depended on outside resources that fell under the new USNA's rule they could not get supplies in a timely manner seeing as many of the truck drivers had either been forced into love and no longer doing their job or they simply up and joined the resistance. So many everyday jobs men did now had to be relegated to the different females and families that stayed behind or were left.
Starvation will get approx. 250 million people before the half point of the year passes.
...War never changes does it?
