Chapter 3 Thank god for air superiority
I kept my driving through desert and the fact that they were still tailing me told me that they really did not want me to get away. The radio still crackled my movements and to be honest I didn't really care as I was focused on just not flipping over or crashing.
That was until I saw what they meant by stopping me.
'OHH FUCK ME RIGHT IN THE THAT IS SO NOT FAIR!' I thought out loud
A rocket landed in front of me I swerved out of instinct but managed to get back onto the trail again.
Another rocket landed this time by some luck hitting close enough to blow up close enough to blow out my right rear tire I spun out and flipped landing upside down.
I opened the door unclipped my seat belt and landed on my head and rolled outside.
"Ugh Fuck me!" I moaned.
I quickly grabbed the grenades the rifles and magazines for them.
The helicopter was going around the radio was still working albeit barely, but I got the message.
"Stall till the police get their chopper 1." Or something like that my head still hurt from landing on the roof of the car.
I looked at the chopper and I felt the two pilots looking at me I sat up against the upside down Humvee grabbing the Thompson.
"Grandpa I know you're watching me please help me." I prayed quietly.
I slowly stood up the same bag my grandpa carried his Thompson magazines into battle in those pacific operations in the second world war.
In a flash I shouldered the rifle aimed and fired in small bursts at the chopper. I hit the pilot on the right who I saw slump in her seat the second pilot tried to pull away before I let the rest of the round fly and as luck would have it got the other pilot and the chopper plunged into the ground. And unlike the movies crashed and rolled to its side.
I looked around the car and saw at least a two cop cars and a dozen ATV's.
I looked at the two grenades and flash bang in my possession. I put one in my pocket it would be for myself if it came to that. I dropped the empty magazine and pulled another out of the bag before slinging the Thompson and switching to my M4.
I lined up my sights on the driver of one of the ATV's and fired hitting the driver who clutched her heart with one hand before turning so hard that she flipped along with her passenger.
I was about to line up again before I heard the radio go silent, I scrambled behind the cover of my Humvee grabbed the radio off the roof now floor of the Humvee and listened it sounded like... music.

Over the music I heard the voice of my father.
"I don't know who is down there but sit tight were coming to you sit tight and head down were coming in to strafe the area." I immediately pressed talk I felt tears well up into my eyes as I heard the whirring of helicopters a lot of helicopter coming.
"Dad its me is it really you?!" I said trying to hold my emotions in.
"Harry what? Harry stay put Calvary has arrived were gonna rescue you."
I ducked as I heard the power of several 30mm cannons pounding ground, metal, and dirt.
I kept my head down till the cannons stopped firing. I looked up to see a fire team of soldiers approach me.
Formation 4 Black hawks 8 AH-64 Heavy's
Rescue
Surprisingly i didn't have any major emotions other then happiness that help arrived.
One of the soldiers looked gave me the once over as the others looked at the vehicle.
"This is Sergeant McConnell we got one survivor over!" Radio chatter followed.
"Kid you have no idea how lucky you are... Got any supplies in there." I looked at my wrecked Humvee before looking back.
"Enough for myself for a few more weeks." The sergeant nodded and gestured to the soldiers who did a quick search grabbing my bag, the water bottles and all the food.
"Come on kid we don't got a lot of time were on a mission this little detour has cost us a little time."
"What?" I asked a bit confused.
"Sir we gotta move!"
The sergeant gave me a hand up and I followed them to the open Black hawk taking a seat in the back.
I was handed a headset which I accepted and put on. The sergeant sat across from me I still held my rifle clutching onto it as if my life depended on it. The sergeant noticed.
"Hey, kid your holding onto your rifle rather tight." I knew he was trying to lighten the mood, but I still felt the adrenaline from earlier.
"Sergeant McConnell where are we going." He showed no change in his demeanor, but he tensed up a little.
"That's why your lucky were on our way to kill or capture a High Value Target when we started intercepting hearing radio chatter of Humvee using explosives. We thought you were one of our guys." I knew he was likely disappointed with they found.
"Sorry to disappoint sir." He waved his hand in a dismissive gesture.
"Doesn't matter you're a solider now regardless I would say welcome to the army but were on a mission." I wasn't surprised.
"Provide for the common defense." ~Preamble to the constitution
"Do you know how to use the rifle?"
"Yes, I've already had to killed someone with it." I let slip by accident didn't want to say that.
Before he could respond i took the m67 out of my pocket and retrieved the other one from another pocket on my shoulder as well as flash bang. He looked stunned. I finally retrieved a tag from from a special pocket in my shirt and turned it over. He didn't speak and the solider sitting on the sitting next to me looked at the tag then me then back at the tag.
"Em sorry sir she-" I winced "I couldn't let her go the risk was to great." I felt tears well up until i remembered when I saw her face contorted with malice a beautiful women with the mind of a monster.
"Sir?" The solider next to me said to the sergeant.
"Son you did what you had to most would have been unable to shoot a fellow countrymen or women even less so a solider and what were about to do may very well test all of us." He looked at me as he handed the tag back to me which I put away carefully. Then he handed one of the grenades back to me before strapping the flash bang and the other grenade to his belt before refocusing his attention back to me.
"The grenade is for yourself stay in the chopper you're not trained if you want to provide support do so but don't shoot us." I nodded checking my rifle.
"Hey, kid your father is colonel Duncan James?" The solider next to me asked.
"Yea, why?"
"Your father was worried about you he got your message ran home against orders just to get you."
"Why wasn't he court marshaled."
"A lot of guys went home to get their sons most were able to some weren't the rest were captured or killed but your dad said you could take care of yourself since he taught yourself."
"Needless to say your father would prabaly want to speak to you after this op stay in the chopper while we get this done."
"Sergeant have you been on a tour." Everyone on the chopper chuckled.
"Son I may not look it but I've been on five tours in the middle east for the rangers and a lot of the guys here also have been on at least one and you know our motto right."
"Rangers lead the way!" I said loudly.
"Ooh aah!"
"Kid you might just live to see the end of this with that attitude if we survive ill put in a recommendation for you to go into ranger school assuming you survive it ill have you on within six months."
"I thought training me would take a year?"
"Son World War III has started why the fuck would we spend time we don't have." We continued in silence as I looked out the window anticipating my next fight.
Note* Ive made two chapters should i finish up Harry's arc for the time following him through his first mission or move back over to our inter dimensional warrior. To be honest i have no idea you decide. -\(o_o)/- See ya next time
