Chapter 13: Captain Falcon vs Ryu/Mario vs Ken
Mario and Falcon stumbled out of the portal, falling to the ground. They looked around the place.
"Well, we're safe...," Mario said.
"Not yet. Look," Falcon said. The two had landed just outside a shop where a giant TV sat in the window. A few people were already watching intently.
"Last night, one of the most historic sports buildings in the world, Madison Square Garden, was destroyed during the main event of WVBA's latest pay-per-view. After World Circuit champion Little Mac defeated Glass Joe, a new foe approached the ring and challenged Mac. The fight went on with the challenger getting rid of his boxing gloves, and attempted to bite the champion. Eventually a stranger in red attacked the challenger. Due to this assist, Mac won his second match of the night. That was when a man in purple appeared above the ring. The man in red, as well as a man in a purple racing suit and red helmet, attempted to attack the man. The man blocked the attacks and took the World Circuit title, then told everyone to leave the building if they wanted to live. Ten minutes later, the building collapsed. Mac's trainer and former WVBA champion, Doc Louis, had this to say after the event," the news reporter said. Mac's trainer was now on the screen.
"This was the most shocking thing I've ever seen in my career. I don't know who those people were last night, but they will pay for what they've done," Doc said.
"The WVBA commissioner has said that all fans in attendance will receive a refund. As for the building itself, it's still undecided whether Madison Square Garden will be rebuilt, given the building's history," the reporter continued. By then, Mario and Falcon had stopped looking at the report. They made sure to go into an area where no one was looking.
"So now we're criminals. Great," Mario sighed.
"Well, what do we do now? If someone sees us, we'll be in big trouble," Falcon stated.
"Thank you Captain Obvious," Mario groaned. This really wasn't going good. They were now practically wanted by the law.
"We need disguises. So that they can't recognize us," Mario said.
"That's a good idea, what should we do?"
"Give me your helmet."
"Wait, what?" Falcon said in surprise.
"Yeah. They won't recognize you with out the helmet. You wore it into the arena."
"I can't just let you put it on!"
"We may not have a choice"
"Ugh, fine... well, what about me?" Falcon asked. Mario looked around. He hadn't thought about Falcon. That was when he saw a sign in the alley that caught his eye. Randal's Costume Shop...
Minutes later, Mario and Falcon walked out of the costume shop. Mario was wearing Falcon's helmet, which he'd made sure to have painted pink. With it, he wore a white suit, along with pink combat boots. Falcon, meanwhile, wobbled out in a dark cap with the Falcon logo where the M on Mario's cap would be, a grayish shirt, and overalls matching his cap. He wore sunglasses to cover his eyes.
"I can't believe you actually painted my helmet pink," Falcon groaned as he fiddled with his overalls.
"You act like I wanted to wear this thing.
"You did."
"Well, these things are a pain to see in. How do you wear this thing all the time?"
"Well...," Falcon started, only to be interrupted by a man stepping in front then. He wore red martial gi, and had long yellow hair.
"I've got you right where I want you," the man said.
"What are you talking about?" Mario asked, trying to sound confused.
"Don't play dumb! Your disguises don't fool me! You're the guys who destroyed Madison Square Garden!" The man said in anger.
"Hey, we didn't do that! It was that dude in purple," Falcon spoke up, but by then, the man wasn't listening.
"Tatsumaki Senpukyaku!" The man yelled doing a spinning kick attack toward Mario.
"Whoa! Mario yelled, jumping back. The two began to battle. Falcon went to help out his friend, but that was when he heard someone approach behind him. It was Ryu.
"I can't let you go after what you pulled last night," Ryu said plainly, getting in a fighting stance. Falcon grinned. Ryu didn't know it, but Falcon was getting the rematch he wanted.
"Ok, you can try!" Falcon said, giving a "just bring it" hand gesture. He charged at Ryu, leaping up for the Knee of Justice, which Ryu dodged.
"Hadouken!" Ryu yelled, firing the fireball at the Supersonic Slugger. Falcon easily dodged, doing a Falcon kick toward the World Warrior. He didn't announce it, because it would reveal his identity. Meanwhile, Mario was trying to deal with Ryu's friend, who was firing on all cylinders. Mario didn't have much space to move, since they were in an alley.
"Falcon, I think we need to rap this up!" Mario yelled, dodging another one of the man's strikes.
"Wait, Falcon?" Ryu said in surprise. That slight hesitation would be a critical mistake.
"PUNCH!" Falcon yelled, as he used the devastating move to send Ryu into the wall.
"Ryu!" Ryu's friend said in surprise. This would be critical, as he turned to see Mario swing his hammer and send him flying into the wall, next to Ryu. The two groaned in pain.
"Well, no use in hiding it much longer," Falcon said, tossing the hat and glasses off, and well as taking his helmet off Mario's head and putting it on his own. Mario simply took another one of his caps and placed it on his head.
"M-Mario? Falcon?" Ryu stuttered as he got to his feet.
"Wait, you know these guys?"
"Yeah. Falcon is the guy I told you about who beat Sagat."
"No way. And they both brought you in that 'quest to save the world' stuff you always talk about?"
"At your service," Mario grinned.
"Anyway, this is Mario and Captain Falcon. Guys, meet my long time friend, Ken Masters," Ryu replied. The two both shook hands with Ken.
"So, were you guys really at that whole MSG fiasco?"
"Madison Square Garden? Well, kind of," Mario said. He began to explain the whole story and everything that had transpired. He wasn't sure how many times he would have to do this. Afterwards Ken out his hand on his chin, in thought.
"Huh... interesting," Ken said.
"You see? There are worlds beyond ours. Other people places. Maybe some just like us," Ryu said.
"Some like me? Nah, I'm one of a kind," Ken grinned, giving Ryu a thumbs up.
"Well, do you want to come? We could use as much help as we can get," Mario said.
"Sounds like fun! I'm in!" Ken said.
"More dangerous than fun," Ryu warned, his voice a little more serious than usual.
"I get that, but I can't let you have all the fun, can I?" Ken grinned.
"Well, let's get going. The less time we spend here, the more time we can avoid the cops," Mario said, getting the device ready.
"And you can paint my helmet. Pink is so not my style."
"Alright, fine. Let's-a-go!" Mario said. The four headed through the portal. Mario was now wondering who else would wrapped up in this crazy adventure. He wouldn't have to wait too long to find out.
