Chapter 9: Choosing Sides
The time that the resistance had to rest was perfect. While many rested, others used it to train. Zelda has taken the time to train with Other Zelda to practice each other's magic abilities. For someone her age, Other Zelda was a prodigy when it came to magic. She could match Zelda extremely well.
"That's a lot of power. Not a lot of people your age could learn this much magic," Zelda said. Other Zelda smiled, blushing a little.
"Yeah... it's..."
"The Triforce of Wisdom, right?" Zelda asked.
"How did you...," Other Zelda started. Zelda showed the Triforce of Wisdom on her hand. Other Zelda gasped, before shyly showing her version of the Triforce of Wisdom.
"No ordinary person can use it, you know."
"Yeah..."
"That shows just how powerful you are for your age. I've heard how you lost your Link. You've had a lot of courage,m and strength to rule like this. At this point, you could have the entire Triforce," Zelda said. She realized she may be getting Luigi's sense of humor. She was thankful to hear a small giggle from her counterpart.
"Y-y-you think?" Other Zelda asked quietly. Zelda nodded.
"You are everything a kingdom could ask for. Even thought you're young, you've shown just how powerful your kingdom is, without what people may consider your first line of defense."
"Wow... thank you... for everything," Other Zelda replied, a smile coming to her face. She gave Zelda a hug. Zelda smiled. After all the pep talks she'd gotten from Luigi, it felt good to give one.
Marth, meanwhile was in his quarters, writing something in his personal journal.
To think, I let Waluigi control of me. Let me take people's lives. Many didn't deserve it. Just to prove a point. I am unworthy of a my role. And to think, he thought that people only understand fear! I will not stop until I make sure that Waluigi's reign of terror is over...
"Your Majesty, you have a guest waiting to see you," one of Marth's guards told him.
"Send them in, then," Marth replied, putting the journal away.
"In your personal quarters?"
"It is fine. Just send them in," Marth ordered.
"Yes sir," the guard responded, leaving. A few minutes later, a young woman came in the door. She wore grey and black attire, with a blue cape. She had grey hair, red eyes, and had no shoes. She had a sword with her.
"Prince Marth! I'm sorry I didn't arrive sooner!" The woman said immediately.
"It's alright Corrin, come in," Marth said softly. Corrin sat down in one of the chairs in the room.
"So, what brings you here? Nohr is quite a ways away from here," Marth asked.
"We got your message asking for aid. Unfortunately, the king didn't think that is was a good idea. I may have left without asking. Because I was alone, it took awhile. Your letter didn't arrive till about a month ago," Corrin explained. Marth nodded, processing the info in his head.
"I see..."
"I came to help your fight by this new force!" Corrin said. Marth thought about it. There was nothing left to protect. Waluigi had taken over a large portion of the realms. His kingdom was in ruins. What would Corrin be able to help with?
"I can't turn away her help! She's the only one who is willing to!" Marth thought in his head. He nodded.
"Very well. You can come with us. We need all the help we can get," Marth replied.
"Thank you, Prince Marth!" Corrin exclaimed. "I won't disappoint you!"
"Thank you for your willingness, Corrin. I must get back with Mario, now," Marth replied, as the two left the room. Marth made his way towards Mario's quarters. Though, as he got closer, he thought he heard arguing...
"What do you mean, you're not coming with us?" Mario asked in disbelief.
"I can't, bro. It's not that I don't want to. You know that I want to more than anything. But I don't want to hurt anybody," Luigi returned calmly.
"It's that Satsui No Hado thing, isn't it? Is that why? Dude, that was one time!" Mario tried to reason.
"It was one time. But what if it happens again? People will get hurt, or worse. I'm not willing to let that happen."
"Bro..."
"Until we get Ryu back, or I can control this, I'm not going to put everyone at risk," Luigi said firmly. Mario sighed.
"Okay... I'll back off," Mario said. He turned and left the room. He left the room, he almost ran into Marth.
"Oh! Uh, sorry, your Majesty," Mario blurted.
"You are fine, Mario. Is everything well? I heard arguing."
"Oh... well, after the Satsui No Hado did to Luigi, he decided he wouldn't be traveling with us until Ryu comes back, or he can somehow control it."
"I see... well, I want you to meet Corrin. She's going to join us in our fight against Waluigi," Marth said, quickly changing the subject.
"Nice to meet you!" Corrin exclaimed, extending a hand to Mario. Mario shook her hand.
"Same to you. Anyways, Marth, I think it's about time we start getting ready to head out again," Mario turned to Marth. Marth nodded.
"I agree. I will get everyone ready."
"Great!"
After half an hour, everyone was standing outside of the Falcon Flier, waiting to board. Mario had told Ken about what Luigi said.
"I understand. When we first discovered Ryu was possessed by the Satsui No Hado, it terrified Ryu. Let's just hope we find him soon...," Ken said.
"All aboard!" Falcon called, as a set of stairs came out from the ship's entrance. As the all boarded, Zelda took one look back toward Luigi, who was standing always off. She had wanted to stay behind with Luigi to keep him company, but Luigi told her to go, not wanting her to get hurt if the Satsui No Hado possessed him again. She gave a sad wave to Luigi, who waved back. He watched as the Falcon Flier lifted in the air and took off.
In the ship, Mario joined Falcon in the cockpit.
"So, where too?" Falcon asked. Mario switched through worlds.
"I think it's time we start hitting new places. I think we have most of previous allies, plus new ones," Mario suggested. He hit the button.
"Okay, off we go! Hold on tight!" Falcon said. The portal appeared and the Falcon Flier zipped through. Mario wondered who he would meet in this new world. More importantly, would he find Ryu?
