After our heroes were fully rested, they met up at the Falcon Flyer, which Falcon had spent some time repairing the damage. Everyone boarded, and Mario joined Falcon in the cockpit, pulling out the device.
"So, where to?" Falcon asked, as Mario switched through worlds.
"I'm thinking someone from our first adventure. Let's see... Dreamland! We can go pick up Kirby!" Mario suggested. Falcon nodded. Mario got the device.
"All right, everyone! Hold on tight! We're out!" Falcon announced. The portal appeared, and Falcon launched through. They finally slowed as they flew. Everyone began to chat. Sonic began explaining how he returned into a normal hedgehog.
"Somehow, I somehow broke out of Waluigi's control or something. Waluigi figured it out pretty quick, and he caused me to blow up. And he somehow reconstructed me to a hedgehog while I was still conscious," Sonic said.
"That's... unsettling...," Zelda said.
"Well, we know that somehow that Waluigi can resurrect the dead. What we don't know is how. Perhaps it's because of the Soul Stone," Shadow pondered. The Falcon Flyer then came to a screeching stop.
"We're here!" Falcon yelled from the cockpit. Everyone exited the ship, and looked at the bright, vibrant colors of Dream Land.
"It doesn't look like Waluigi has been here... yet," Shadow said.
"We're looking for Kirby," Mario explained.
"Are we going to split up?" Luigi asked.
"I don't think that's a good idea. If any of use run into revenants, you're the only one with the device to help them," Mario pointed out. Luigi nodded. He had a fair point.
"Okay, let's get going," Shadow said. The group walked on, eventually entering the woods where they first encountered Primids. Mario continued leading the group. That was when they heard a creaking sound.
"What's that?" Fox asked. Mario looked up in horror. A giant tree was falling, and it was going to fall... on Zelda!
"Bro!" Mario cried. Luigi looked in and realized that this tree was coming down a bit too fast.
"Zelda, look out!" Luigi yelled. He ran and dove, getting him and Zelda out of the tree's way.
"Are you alright?"'Luigi asked, helping the Princess to her feet.
"I'll manage... thank you, Luigi," Zelda replied, brushing the dirt off her dress. The two looked at the blocked path.
"Luigi! Zelda! Are you two alright?" Luigi heard Mario yell.
"Yeah Mario, we're okay. I don't think we're gonna make it past this tree. We'll take another route and meet you once we get out of the woods," Luigi yelled back.
"Okay. Just don't get yourself in too much trouble!"
"Will do!" Luigi replied. He looked at Zelda and smiled.
"Well that's one way to split up, huh?"
"I guess so."
"Here, let's hit another path," Luigi said. The two quickly got off their current path and switched. They found themselves peacefully walking down the new path.
"No falling trees. Good enough for me," Luigi laughed. He noticed that Zelda had gone quiet. He looked to see Zelda was a few feet back, walking slowly and staring at the ground. Luigi quickly went back to her.
"You alright?"
"It's just... it reminds me how you, Link and I went through together the last time we were here. It was nice. Now Link...," Zelda's voice trailed off. Luigi sighed. He hated seeing his friend this way.
"Zelda, I can't say I knew Link well. I only knew him from out first quest. But what I do know was that he was tough. And he cared about you more than anything. I'm sure somewhere out there in your world, Link is still alive. And in time, he will come back to Hyrule," Luigi said in the most comforting tone he could. Zelda was quiet. Then she lifted her head and smiled.
"Thanks again Luigi. You're right. Sorry if I keep getting like this..."
"No, I understand. I don't think anyone has suffered near as much in this as you have. Maybe Snake, but that's it."
"Shall we continue?" Zelda asked. Luigi nodded.
"Yeah, let's go."
The two kept walking peacefully down the path. Then, Luigi suddenly heard a small whooshing sound. Luigi quickly stopped, and had Zelda stop.
"What is it?"
"Someone's following us. Most likely foe," Luigi answered.
"What do we do?" Zelda asked, clearly concerned.
"Keep your guard up."
The two now cautiously moved through the woods now. Luigi continued to hear rustling in the trees. It wasn't long before a shot was fired from the trees. Luigi quickly dodged out of the way. Revenant Mega Man and Ryu emerged from the trees.
"Mega Man... Ryu...," Luigi whispered to himself.
"Well, if it isn't Luigi and his girlfriend! They seem pretty weak, but they should be fine to join Waluigi," Mega Man taunted. Luigi felt his face burn, a combination of embarrassment and anger. He looked at Zelda's face was beet red, most likely out of embarrassment.
"Well, at least it's a fair fight...," Luigi whispered to Zelda, who was charging some magic in her hand.
"You cannot win. I have now mastered the power of the Satsui No Hado," Ryu said.
"Take the kid. I'll prove Ryu wrong," Luigi said. Zelda nodded, attacking Mega Man with magic, which resulted in Mega Man responding with a charge shot. This left Luigi with Ryu, who flashed red energy to intimidate his opponent.
"I thought someone like you sought to get stronger on your own, Ryu," Luigi replied.
"I sought to learn to control the powers I possess. Waluigi taught me to master them," Ryu explained, getting into his stance. Luigi battled Ryu. Luigi hadn't had much battle experience with Ryu, other than his battle against Captain Falcon. Luigi, luckily, managed to defeat the World Warrior. Zelda, meanwhile, has used her magic to defeat Mega Man and put him in rest move. She brought the shut down body of Mega Man where Ryu was, kneeling in defeat.
"Nice work," Luigi said. As he pulled out the device, Zelda gasped. Ryu hasn't been unconscious, and he was right behind Luigi.
"Luigi!" Zelda gasped. Luigi turned around too late, and was unable to counter.
"SHORYUKEN!" Ryu yelled, striking Luigi with the power uppercut.
"Oof!" Luigi grunted, as he crumpled to the ground. Ryu quickly grabbed Mega Man(who Zelda had dropped) and disappeared in a dark portal. Zelda helped Luigi to his feet, who was staggering from the strike.
"Are you alright?" Zelda asked.
"I think I'll manage...," Luigi muttered. Luigi suddenly began to collapse.
"Luigi? LUIGI!" Zelda cried. Luigi fell to the ground, unconscious. Using her magic, Zelda was thankful to see he was still alive somehow. But the more she did, she sensed something was wrong with him. Whatever Ryu had done, it had affected Luigi in more ways than one.
"I have now mastered the power of the Satsui No Hado...," Zelda remembered Ryu's words in her head. Just what was this Satsui No Hado? She remembered Ken: he might be able to tell her what's going on. She looked at her fallen friend.
"Thanks for looking out for me, Luigi. Now it's time for me to return the favor."
