Everyone was able to land their arwings in a small clearing. Hopping out, everyone realized it was a small clearing in a large jungle.
"Hey, this place is kind of familiar!" Luigi said, taking a look around the jungle.
"Well, good for you. Want a cookie?" Shadow said sarcastically.
"OK, sorry. But if I'm right, we might meet someone I kn...," Luigi started. He was interrupted by a rumbling in the ground.
"Please, not an earthquake," Fox muttered.
"Well, we need to keep going," Shadow said. As our heroes kept walking, the rumblings and shakings got hard and louder. They finally approached a tree house with a cave underneath. And it felt like an earthquake, now. The ground was shaking, and everything vibrated. Luigi looked up at the tree house. He noticed the letters KONG on top.
"I was right! This place is familiar! It's Kongo Jungle! DK Island!" Luigi cried out in joy.
"I'm guessing this Kong friend of yours likes to make earthquakes?" Fox asked.
"Not usually. Unless... He's angry about something! Everyone, in that cave!" Luigi ordered, dashing towards the cave below the tree house. Everyone else, not a hundred percent sure what was going on, followed. In the cave, a giant ape was pounding everything in the cave, from the walls, to the ground to even the ceiling, all with his giant hands. He was a brown furred ape, with meaty hands. The strangest thing, though, was the red necktie he wore around his neck.
"Hey, DK! Donkey Kong!" Luigi called, amongst the rumblings. DK turned, saw Luigi was there, smiled and waved, and went back to angrily pounding everything.
"He's obviously pretty ticked off. Do you know how to calm him down?" Ash asked Luigi
"Hm, this is his banana cave under his tree house. And it has... No bananas!" Luigi realized.
"Well, this guy is going bananas over something," Fox said.
"Hold on, I got an idea. Stay here," said Shadow, exiting the cave. Moments later, he came back with a bunch of bananas. He pulled one off the bunch.
"Hey, you big, dumb, primate," Shadow said, tossing the banana. DK stopped, staring at the banana.
"It's fine, I have plenty," Shadow said, tossing the bunch at the ape. DK went into joy, diving towards the banana. Within a few minutes, the whole bunch, which had ten bananas, was gone. The ape then went into a large spree, telling our heroes something. However, there was three humans, a hedgehog, a fox, and a Pokemon, which all spoke English. None of them could understand a thing DK was saying!
"Man, Mario is the translator, not me!" Luigi groaned.
"I should've kept that translator Slippy made me," Fox muttered.
"Um, Shadow, you got anything?" Luigi asked hopefully.
"Sorry, I don't speak ape, especially with the intellect of this one," Shadow said coldly,
looking away.
Then Luigi remembered something. He dug around in his overall pockets, and pulled out a strange device.
"Ah ha! The translator the professor gave me! We should be able to understand what he's saying now!" Luigi said. Then he turned to DK,"Okay, DK, repeat what you just told us." The primate went again into a bunch of ape talk, making no sense to our heroes. However, Luigi picked it up.
"Okay, he said 'Thank you. Uh, sorry about that. I was just robbed... again!'" Luigi translated.
"Wait, robbed? Robbed of what?" Fox asked. DK went into another spree of ape talk. Luigi got it.
"He said 'My banana hoard! This cave is supposed to be full of them! Also, my golden bananas are gone! They are one of the main power sources on DK Island!'" Luigi explained.
"Talk about going bananas," Ash whispered to Zelda. Zelda, let out a little giggle. On the inside, she was still worried about Link. He was gone. Would she ever see him again? If not, who would protect her kingdom? She was fully capable of defending herself, but sometimes her powers were not strong enough to counter Ganon's dark forces. But on the outside, she didn't let it show.
"Wait, golden bananas?"
"Well, he is an ape."
"A relatively stupid one," Shadow said. DK, however, while he couldn't speak English, he could understand it. He went into a rage, trying to get to Shadow. Luckily, Fox and Luigi held him back.
"Calm down, big fella. Just tell us where your golden bananas are, and we'll go find them," Fox said.
"Not just the golden ones. He wants the real ones too. They're literally his only food," Luigi jumped in.
"Right, so where do we start?" Fox said. DK was about to answer when they heard shaking, popping, and other crazy noises.
"Argh, what now?" groaned Fox, running outside.
"Fox, wait up!" Ash cried, as everyone followed. Outside, they found a net full of bananas, a dazed crocodile, as well as a giant banana next to it. When DK saw, he began to jump for joy. He went to it, lifted the giant banana in the air, then began dancing.
"Wow, that's one big banana," Ash said.
"That must be one of those golden bananas that the dumb ape was talking about," Shadow said.
"But where'd it come from?" Fox wondered. As he spoke, another net full of bananas fell to the ground! Our heroes looked into the air. To their surprise, there was mini aircrafts carrying nets full of bananas! There bigger aircrafts that appeared to be bigger bananas. The GOLDEN bananas.
"Did that golden banana fall off?" Ash wondered aloud.
"No way! The way that they're on those aircrafts, they'd have to be shot down. Same with those nets! I know I didn't do it!" Fox explained.
"Well, who could've of done it?... Hey, LOOK" cried Luigi. In the air, was something with that appeared to be flying on a jetpack.
"It's a bird!" Ash cried.
"It's a plane!" Fox cried.
"No it's... Diddy Kong!" Luigi cried out. Diddy slowly floated to the ground on his jetpack. He went up to DK, and the two danced around. They two started to talk. Unfortunately, Diddy didn't speak English either. Luckily, Luigi had the translator ready.
"Apparently, Diddy noticed those aircrafts carrying away the bananas, so he gave chase. He managed to free two nets of bananas, as well as a golden banana, but by then, the Kremlings knew what was happening and got away," Luigi explained.
"A... Kremling?" Fox asked.
"They're a race of crocodile here on DK Island. Well, they're from Crocodile Island. Their leader, King K. Rool, has a beef with the Kong family. He's been after these bananas for years," Luigi explained. Then, the Kremling, who was next to one of the nets of bananas, immediately, jumped up, and ran away.
"Let's get 'em!" Ash cheered, preparing to make chase. Fox grabbed the back of his shirt collar.
"Don't worry about it."
"Why not? We should make him pay for the bananas!"
"They're all alone, there's no point. The Kremlings we want are the ones in the aircrafts," Fox explained,"Speaking of which, Luigi, it's about time we head out to wherever they're going."
"Yeah. You're right. DK, you and Diddy get that golden banana to safety. My friends and I will get the rest. Anyway, Let's-a-go!" Luigi ordered. Our heroes turned to head for their arwings, but they were stopped when hearing DK speaking. Luigi didn't have to time to get the translator for the entire sentence, but he managed to get the end.
"He wants to do something with us," Luigi said.
"What, eat bananas?" Shadow said sarcastically. DK glared at Shadow angrily.
"Wait, I think he's saying he wants to COME with us," Ash said.
"You're probably right!" Luigi said.
"Um, Luigi, we only have four arwings. And we're already pushing having two people in there at a time," Fox said.
"Fox, they're monkeys. They're one of the most intelligent species in the world. They'll think of something," Luigi said. By now, our heroes realized that there was no time. Our heroes bolted for their arwings, then took to the skies. DK and Diddy followed, using their Rocket barrel packs. While in the portal, Luigi could tell Zelda was quiet. Too quiet.
"Something wrong, Zelda?"
"Oh... Um... OK, yes. All I can think about is... what now? So much has happened. We've went through a bunch of different worlds, and yet, no Link. I'm starting to wonder if I won't see him again."
"Hey, listen. I know how you feel. Remember, Mario's gone too. I'm really jumping out of my shell with this whole leadership role. That would be something Mario does. A brave, fearless leader. I have to do that, and none of those words describe me. AT ALL."
"Well, I think you're doing a fine job."
"Really? I hadn't noticed."
"Thank you Luigi. You've raised my spirits yet again. I think we'll find Link soon. As well as Mario."
"As well as Sonic and Falco."
"Yes, you're right."
"You two done with the 'small talk?' You forgot to turn your radio off!"Fox laughed.
"Oh, uh, sorry you had to hear that."
"It's water under the bridge. I think we're getting towards the end. Let's rock and roll!" Fox said. Our heroes flew towards the white circle, entering a new world.
