Chapter 1: World One
Meanwhile at Castle Bleck's Minion Meeting Room, Count Bleck and Nastasia were seen with two different people.
"Bleh! Heh! Heh! Heh! Heh! Bleck! The void has been ripped in the dimensional fabric! Yes, Count Bleck is pleased. All has gone as foretold in the Dark Prognostius. Now it's only a matter of time before all worlds meet their demise! Bleck!" Count Bleck announced.
One of the minions a man known as O'Chunks, who is actually a shapeshifter named Mimi spoke up. "Wow, that's just super, Count! Yeah, first you'll erase all these naughty worlds... And then you're gonna build a perfect world without war and all that icky stuff!" Mimi announced.
Dimentio, a half breed jester, stood next to Mimi. "Yes, yes, no one likes the icky stuff... Yesss... A perfect world... Sounds magical... Ah ha ha. I can hardly stand the wait." Dimentio said.
"Sorry I'm late!" A voice shouted. The real O'Chunks fell down to meet them. He turned to Mimi, shocked. "What in blazin' bog rats...? How'd I bear meself 'ere?! What's going on?!" O'Chunks asked confused.
"Mimimimimimimimimimi! Oh, O'Chunks, you big silly! Didja oversleep or something?" Mimi asked, changing into Count Bleck. "I guess it's hard to be on time, though, when you've got muscles instead of brains." She said to O'Chunks.
O'Chunks got mad at this. "'EY! Yeh can't fool me wit' that crazy shape-shiftin' hooliganry! It's Mimi innit?! Show some respect fer the count! Yeh, can't go a'borrowin' 'is face, lass!" O'Chunks explained.
"Bleh heh heh heh heh heh... How delightful, Mimi. almost as dapper, as Count Bleck!" Count Bleck explained. Mimi then shapeshifted into Princess Peach. "Aw, golly, thanks Count! With you around, it's nothing but big smiles all the time! Hanging out with the Count! That's MY idea of a perfect world! 💚" Mimi explained.
Dimentio tapped his finger on his chin. "And here I thought Mimi's ideal world was a gem-filled pool with hunky lifeguards..." Dimentio said. Mimi then changed into Bowser. "Hey! Dimentio! Have you been reading my diary? I mean... Umm... Never mind." Mimi said sadly.
"Bleh heh heh heh heh heh... Well different strokes for different minions... After all these rotten worlds are ended, Count Bleck will make all your dreams come true! But for that to happen, we must follow the instructions in the Dark Prognosticus." Count Bleck explained.
"Yeah, about that, just an FYI? I've got an urgent message from your inbox." Nastasia spoke up. "Apparently there's been some unapproved interdimensional activity lately. Yeah... I'm thinking it's the hero of the prophecy. We're gonna need an action plan for this guy..." Nastasia explained.
Count Bleck gasped. "A dimensional interloper! And possibly the hero?! You are sure of it, Nastasia? Interesting, mused Count Bleck. We must put an end to this nuisance... " Count Bleck explained. "Count Bleck!" O'Chunks yelled to get their attention. Lemme get this right in me brain. The 'ero Nastasia's goin' on 'bout... He yer enemy? Then yeh gotta cut me loose on 'im! Yeh gotta! I'll give 'im a nice taste o' O'Chunks!" O'Chunks explained. "Very well, O'Chunks. I'll leave the hero-chunking to you. Do not fail Count Bleck." Count Bleck ordered O'Chunks.
"Yeh can count on me, Count! I'll rain down like a fat thunderstorm! I swear it!" O'Chunks turned to Mimi and Dimentio. "Mimi! Dimentio! Yeh should tag along! Yeh could witness a proper chunkin'!" He announced, then jumped down.
"Mmm... I do enjoy a good chunking... Well, then... I believe I'll head out as well." Dimentio said, then warped away.
"Bleh heh heh heh heh... So hero... You would defy Count Bleck? Then hurry, for your world's end draws near... Bleh heh heh heh heh heh! Bleck!" Count Bleck cackled.
Mario was called upon again to save the world... No small task. Could be prevent Count Bleck from pulling his sinister plot? Would Mario reunite with Princess Peach? A truly interdimensional adventure was about to begin...
Chapter 1-1: The Adventure Unfolds
Meanwhile, Mario and Tippi had just entered the first dimension. "I feel the Pure Heart. But it's still far from here... Merlon told us to find his friend, Bestovius, to learn that dimensional technique. We should find him..." Tippi explained. Mario nodded happily in agreement. "If you need advice, just ask me." Tippi said.
Mario nodded and started on his way down Lineland Road, stomping on Goombas, collecting coins and snagging onto a Shroom Shake for later. Tippi followed him through the fields.
Mario soon arrived at a house, jumping onto a save block, saving his progress then enters inside the house. Nothing inside. "This is not an empty house... There's something in this room. I can feel it... I can help you find hidden things." Tippi said. Mario told her to search around for anything interesting. Tippi looked around and found a hidden door. "There is a door here. Let me reveal it to you." Tippi explained.
Mario saw the door appear and then went inside with Tippi. Inside was a room with an old man inside it. Mario went up to him, thinking this was old man Bestovius.
"What is this meager mustache that stands before me? And how does it have the audacity to address my multicolored glow? How did these flimsy workers detect my secret door..." Bestovius asked, inspecting Mario.
"Wait right there! Red shirts conspicuous white gloves, jaunty cap.. Ha! You are barbed in the rich cloth of the hero of the prophecy! You must be the great... Hero! Impersonator!" Bestovius, Mario fainted.
"What a costume you look like you leaped out of the pages of the prognosticus! " Bestovius explained. Mario gets up and explained to him the truth. "He wears the clothes because he IS the hero of the prophecy. Merlon sent us here." Tippi explained.
"Merlon?! Only his full-bodied beard rivals my hairy magnificence... If Merlon thinks you are the true hero, you probably are. I think... Well then. As the prophecy foretells, I Bestovius will bestow upon you the ancient secrets of dimensional flipping... For a normal fee of 10,000 coins! " Bestovius explained.
"But that's preposterous! You can't charge the hero for valuable skills!" Tippi cried out. "Why not? Even the great and splendiferous Bestovius has expenditures. Why should the hero get the world delivered to him on a well-garnished platter? These heroes think they can get away with shaking people down for free skills! A mere 10,00 coins should be nothing for a hero of the universe? What do you say?" Bestovius asked Mario.
Mario said no. "I see. So be it. I will settle for just taking all the coins in your pockets. Do we have a deal?" Bestovius asked. Mario agreed to the deal. "Scintillating! Let us begin!" Bestovius called out. He floats over to Mario. He chanted a magical chant and granted Mario with the ability to flip into 3D!
"I Bestovius, have granted you with the ability to flip between dimensions. Press A to slip between the very fabric of space and flip between 2-D and 3-D! Well, what do you think? Mind blowing, isn't it?" Bestovius asked. Mario responds, asking what the "A" means. "What is this A I speak of? I assure you that if we are being watched from another dimension... Those beings will understand. But you lack the mustache for full comprehension. Just remember that you can use this ability to find hidden items and secret paths. But Beware: Use your new ability for two long and you will lose HP!" Bestovius warned.
"Well, thank you Bestovius. We should be going now Mario. Why don't you give it a test before we go?" Tippi suggested. Mario nodded and flipped into 3D, snagging a few items and then heading out of the house. "Alright, let's keep moving. You should be able to get in that door over there now." Tippi said.
Mario nodded and pressed onwards, he entered the door, destroyed some koopa troopas, Goombas and the unfamiliar pink piggies. He also encountered many power ups that he was unfamiliar with. Mario pressed onwards and managed to obtain a Mega Star, turning him into a giant 8-bit Mario and he charged through, destroying everything in his path. He soon ended his travels in Lineland Road.
And so Mario came to earn the stupendous ability of flipping between dimensions. But there was no time to celebrate: Mario still had a Pure Heart to find. The trail ahead was overrun with savage beasts. "Follow me." Tippi said, as she does towards the mountain that loomed ahead. The Pure Heart was hidden somewhere on the other side.
Chapter 1-2: Afoot in the Foothills
They arrived a mountain. "I feel that the Pure Heart is beyond this mountain, but it's still far, far away. Something tells me you'll need to put that new skill of yours to use." Tippi said.
Mario nodded, climbing the mountains, using his 3D if he had to, killing koopas until he arrived in a town of sorts. No bridge, he saw a house in the distance, and ended up approaching it. Mario entered the house and ended up seeing the house was sweating? It looked very strange, so he flipped and saw a guy similar to him.
“Hey! HEY! You can see me!” Red explained. Mario nodded. “This In unbelievable! I've been freaking out for days, and finally, someone sees me!” Red explained. Mario asked what he meant.
“A couple of mornings ago, I rolled out of the wrong side of the bed... and once I get my coffee, I realized I’m stuck in some freaky parallel dimension! I've been hollering and flailing for days but nobody could hear or even see me! Just when I thought I could be gone forever, I seen you! You just clipped in here out of thin air! I was thinking, if you could do that, maybe I can hitch a ride back with you? Just stand next to me and flip into 2-D! I'll hold on!” Red called out.
Mario flipped and helped Red out. “Wuh! We did it! I’m back to normal! Listen, you really bailed me out of that 3D business back there. The name’s Red, nice to meet you! How could I ever repay you?” Red asked. Mario talked to Red about the problem with the bridge.
"Actually, there is one thing... There's a huge chasm outside that we need to cross." Tippi said. “So you want to cross the chasm, Huh? Well you found the right guy! But hey, I have to warn you. You know this place is called “impasse pass” for a reason. I’m only allowed to let a few cross the bridge. It’s in my job description. I mean, it’s why they pay me to stand here, you know? You sure you want to pass?” Red asked.
Mario nodded. Yeah, well, you did save me from being trapped in that dimension and all... Okay! I’m going to ask you a question, get it right, and I'll let you pass. What’s the most manliest color in the universe? Red or Green?” Red asked. Mario responded with Red.
“Yes! I knew it! You and me, we see eye to eye in fashion! I'll let you go!” Red said, flipping the switch and opening the bridge. “All right, you should be good to go! Take it easy now!” Red called out.
They went outside and crossed the bridge into town. They watched all the happy people in town, but they couldn't stay for long. They realized there was another bridge out. Mario went to investigate the house and noticed a man in green. He wouldn't let them cross, so he went to talk to Old Man Watchitt. Watchitt saw them.
"Whazzit?! Who are you?" He asked. Mario asked Watchitt that Green wouldn't let them across the Road and he needed his approval. He even mentioned he was the hero of the prophecy. "Oh are ya? I'm not convinced. You'll need a pixl that acts like a strong hand for me to let ya cross." Old Man Watchitt said. Mario sighed and then inspected a different house, with a pipe. He flipped, went down the pipe, avoided some Thwomps and then ended up in a room.
He asked Tippi to find something like a door. Tippi found a hidden door. She made it visible for Mario. "There, now you can go through." Tippi said. Mario went into the door and saw a room with a big chest, switch and block. Then suddenly, the door locked. Tippi turned around. "Oh dear. It appears we're trapped here." Tippi said sadly.
Mario then decided to inspect the chest. “Sweet Freedom!” Something called out. A little hand shaped pixl appeared out of the chest. “Wait a minute... if I have been set free, that means I have been set free by the hero! I have expressed concern when the ancients locked me away in this chest for 1,500 years, but it appears that my concerns were quite unfounded, the heroes have finally arrived!” Thoreau called out. "Um, yes. And who would you be?" Tippi asked.
“My name is Thoreau, a pixl like you. But I never recognized you before. Are you a newer model?” He asked Tippi. "Um... well, I... uh..." Tippi said, she was having trouble answering that. “No matter! Details bore me. What is important is that I have been waiting ages to join the hero! And now, I can happily join up with the hero and help him out of his quest! Won’t you take me? You must take me! You will? Smashing!” Thoreau said, joining up with the party.
"That's great. Do you think you'll help us out of this room?" Tippi asked. Thoreau nodded. “Yeah, you can use me to grab stuff and throw it! You can even jump while throwing stuff!” Thoreau explained. Mario used Thoreau to grab that block and chuck it at the blue switch.
They exited the building and went back to Watchitt. "Whazzit?! Oh, it's you. Is that a throw pixl you have? Of course, I knew you were the one all along." He said He pulled out a phone. "Hello? Green? It's Watchitt. No, Watchitt! Not block it! Anyway, just let the mustache guy through will ya?" He said to Green, then hanged up.
"Go ahead." He said. Mario nodded and headed on his way to Green’s House. He told Green about Watchitt’s approval. "Awesome! Time to get this bridge moving." He pulled a switch and a bridge formed outside.
"There ya go. Mind if I ask ya a question? What's better, green or red?" Green asked. “Green!” Mario explained. "Hah! That's what I thought. You got good tastes for a red guy. Now you get going." Green said. Mario and Tippi crossed the bridge and headed towards the next area.
With a bold quiver in his magnificent mustache, Mario let loose a hard sneeze. A single grain of sand had flown along the warm wind and tickled the hero's nose. It wasn't long before Mario and Tippi found the source of the sand: The Yold Desert. Along the endless, signaled expanse. Mario and Tippi continued their search...
Chapter 1-3: The Sands of Yold
They made their way to the Yold desert. "Didn't Old man Watchitt say there were ruins out here somewhere?" Tippi asked. Mario thought and nodded. "The pure heart can't be far now. Let's move on." Tippi said. Mario pressed on, defeating foes, jumping under a red tree, collecting coins and other stuff.
They went through a few more doors, but then heard yelling. "So yer the one with the stache in me boss' business!" A voice was heard. Mario looked around. O'Chunks came crashing down, scaring the doors away. "Now ye gotta deal with me! Get ready for a good ol' chunking!" O'Chunks said out loud.
Mario approached O’Chunks, asking who he was and what the heck did he want. Tippi recognized him. "You... You're one of Count Bleck's thugs, aren't you?!" Tippi asked. O'Chunks got into a fighting stance. "O'Chunks is me name! An' I'm no common thug lass. I thug for the count o' counts, Count Bleck hisself! One word from me Blecky-boy, an' I come teh make yeh feel some hammage!" O'Chunks said out loud.
Mario asked what he meant by “hammage”. "Hammage? Ehhh... Make that "damage!" Whatever then! Not that it matters a pinch o'stew in a sandstorm. Yer a goner!" O'Chunks shouted. Tippi looked concerned. "Do you even know what Count Bleck is trying to do?" Tippi asked. "Deh! Me boy's usin' powers an' whatnot teh bring back some order teh this 'ere world! An enemy o' Bleck be an enemy o' mine! They all get chunked!" O'Chunks shouted.
"This O'Chunks is a lot scarier than other enemies we've faced so far... Maybe you should use my power to investigate him when we start the battle..." Tippi suggested. "Enough is enough already! It's time teh thunder down from on high an' deliver a beatin' of the ages. CHUNK ON IT!" He shouted. The battle began.
Mario quickly told Tippi to scan O’Chunks and to hurry. "O'Chunks. Hp 20 Atk 10. He won't just let you jump on him. You'll have to find a way to stun him. Maybe use Thoreau." Tippi tattled. Mario then got right to work, using Thoreau to toss O’Chunks around, then stomping on him until the job was done.
"I'm chunked!" O'Chunks cried out, laying weak on the ground. "Me chunks... yeh failed me! I got pummeled an yeh barely sweat yer brow. 'Ey... what kind o' strange li'l man are yeh?" O'Chunks said, panting. Tippi hovered above Mario. "This 'strange li'l man' is none other than... the legendary hero, Mario!" Tippi explained. "Maria, 'ey? 'Tis an odd name, but yeh can bet yer baby I'll remember that!" O'Chunks said. Mario shook his head no, his name wasn't Maria, it’s Mario!
Tippi was annoyed at O'Chunks, who simply stomped his foot. "Yeh remember this Maria! If yeh didn't look like such a wee toddler, I wouldn't 'ave taken it so easy on yeh! But 'ey, I have teh give it up fer yer effort, so let's call it a tie. Yeh better get some chunks o' yer own for next time though, 'ey! And while yer st it, why not wax that bonny stache o' yours, Maria! Till we meet again. CHUNKS AWAY!" He shouted.
He... farted himself away? The doors reappeared. "Did you understand a word that guy was saying?" Tippi asked. Mario just watched in shock and then proceeded through the desert and soon found an entry way into these ruins.
Somehow, Mario had found the strength to cross the desert's sweltering dunes. Ahead was a sprawling complex of ruins rising out of the sand. Thankfully for the shade, Mario and Tippi ventured deeper inside. They were the very ruins Old Man Watchitt had warned them about. What dangers lurked in the shady corridors ahead?
Chapter 1-4: Monster of the Ruins
"Mario, I can feel it calling... The Pure Heart is nearby... But wait... I sense something else emanating from the sand dunes. Be careful now Mario... Something else is waiting for us ahead..." Tippi warned.
Mario nodded and made sure to be careful around the ruins and avoid all the dangers inside. They unlocked a few doors and dodged perilous traps, eventually exiting a pipe.
They soon came across more desert, when suddenly....
“WARNING!” A voice called out. A giant robotic dragon appeared from the ground, roaring. “Intrusion detected. Leave immediately or be purged.” The dragon spoke. He examines Mario more closely. “Wait! Scan initialized. Red cap detected. Blue overalls detected. Level 5 mustache detected. Incredible. Possible subject identification. But it is impossible. Hold your position. Searching data banks.” Fracktail warned, scanning.
“Search complete. One positive match. System Overload! Legendary hero detected! Forgive me, hero. I am called Fracktail. My only purpose is to defend the pure heart from lawless intruders. You are late. I have waited thousands of years for your arrival. You may pass. The pure heart is just ahead.” Fracktail explained.
An ominous voice spoke up. "Oh no, it won't be that easy for you." It spoke. Mario looked around in confusion. “Who speaks?” Fracktail asked out loud. Dimentio appeared. "So very nice to meet you... and your mustache! I am Count Bleck's master of dimensions, the pleaser of crowds... I am... Dimentio! Remember the name well..." Dimentio announced.
Tippi recognized him. "I know you... you're..." She was interupted. "It would be so dull if your journey ended so easily... instead, it ends with... magic!" Dimentio shouted. He cast a spell that zapped Fracktail.
“Bzzzt!” Fracktail buzzed out. "Yes, much better... Now you and this robot guardian can spend some quality time... Yes, quality snack time! When he snacks... on you! For you... ARE the snack! Ciao!" Dimentio said.
He warped away. "What did he just..." Tippi started to say. “BEEEEEEPPP!! I AM ERROR. PRESS ANY KEY TO RESTART. SYSTEM NOT FOUND. INSERT INSTALL DISC. “CNTR! ALT! DEL!” Fracktail roared as he charged at the heroes.
"That's not good..." Tippi said nervously. Mario made sure to avoid the attacks and climbed onto Fracktail’s back.
He aimed for the weak antenna point and managed to defeat Fracktail. “AGH-G-G-G-G! I HAVE MALFUNCTIONED! WHAT HAVE I DONE... HERO... HERO... THE ERROR IS MINE. I AM SORRY... SHAME CIRCUIT SMOLDERING. PLEASE... YOU... MUST... SAVE... OUR... WORLD...” Fracktail screeched as he died in a burning explosion.
They pressed onward, reaching a dark room in the ruins. "Welcome, hero. My name is Merlumina." A voice was heard. Mario looked up. A woman appeared.
"I am a dormant soul... I have waited long to give you the Pure Heart. Yes, I have been waiting for 1500 years." She descended to them. Your presence here must mean that all worlds have begun to collapse." Tippi nodded. "Yes, they have, in fact... That's why we're here..."
"Before I give you the Pure Heart, you and I must speak. Listen well hero." Merlumina began to speak. Mario nodded and started to listen in. "Long, long ago... my people built a civilization hailed as a beacon of culture. Sadly, despite our power, there was one thing we were powerless to stop: The Dark Prognosticus. Nobody knows who authored the dark book. It foretold the events of the future. On the last page, it was written that a chaotic power would devour the world. We knew it had to be stopped. Our greatest minds devised a grand plan to stop the tragedy before it happened. We needed something with the pure essence of love to confront this chaos. Researchers set to work... and they created the Purity Heart. We divided the Purity Heart into 8 pieces and hid them in different dimensions. We hid them for their own protection, waiting for the day the hero would arrive. Everything was going as planned. Or so it seemed... But the wheels of destiny began to spin wildly out of control. It began with a very small incident... At that time, I was young and quite beautiful... It started the dat I met two very fetching young men. And, you see, my life set sail toward a maelstrom of love. You see, I asked one out, but... however... it was... well, you know... basically... it... and then..."
She went on for what seemed like hours. "And that is why we hope the Purity Heart will have the power to defeat chaos. To save all worlds, we must find the 8 Pure Hearts that form the Purity Heart. And that is all I have to say on the matter. Were you listening carefully?" Merlumina asked.
Mario woke up after a while and nodded in response. "Excellent... I did tell the short version, so I wasn't sure if you would fully understand. It is up to you to find the Pure Hearts, for they are our last and only hope. Go forth hero, and save the worlds... We are depending on you!" She said, then gave him the orange pure heart.
Thoreau then started to dance around in celebration of the pure heart. Mario has obtained the 2nd Pure Heart!
Before disappearing, Merlumina had entrusted Mario to save every world. She has waited 1,500 years to deliver the message to the legendary hero. With the second Pure in hand, Mario was in great spirit. But six Pure Hearts still remained to be found, and the journey just begun. With a flutter, Tippi said, "I think we'd better return to Flipside..." The weight on every world's fate once again rested on Mario's shoulders...
