Have you seen "Harry Potter"? At the moment I felt like I was in Hogwarts, more precisely in the twitch field or as that sport with flying broomsticks was called. The difference was, there were no flying brooms, but a group of men naked to the waist, who practiced fighting with swords, axes and other similar weapons. Who,in God's name, used such equipment these days?
Still, they were interesting to watch. As a woman, I have to admit that the scene deserved at least an Oscar for the most popular scene. Why? The group of men, with perfectly developed and trained bodies, whose muscles you can't help but notice, I'm not blind after all, were twitching and tensing with every movement, swimming in sweat, with messy hair, working out, being watched by a group of girls who they would probably be cheerleaders if the boys were some sort of sports team.
The girls encouraged them by teasing them and calling their names, or just walked around them making lewd hints. A bit of a funny picture if you ask me. Except, no one ever asked me anything, unless it was the title of a book in the library. And that's why, instead of continuing to entertain the girls' hormonal instability, I leaned back and looked up at the setting sun, hoping that when I opened them, I wouldn't be on that bench sandwiched between my sister and her friend.
"Is this the new one?" asked my sister, but I ignored her question, unlike her friend. "Yeah, I heard that he was having trouble at his old campus, so they decided to transfer him to ours" her friend replied. "He's been here for three days and I haven't seen him talk to anyone yet, he looks a bit like you to me" my sister Tyra nudged me not very gently, trying to get me to look.
"Maybe we should meet them?" Tenari suggested, ignoring my grunt of displeasure. The two were spending too much time together, at least in my opinion, but I guess it couldn't be otherwise since my sister's knight was Hoseok, who happened to be Tenari's boyfriend. I really wanted to know, though, why I always ended up between the two, which pinned me down, like if I wasn't held in one place or didn't have social contact with another living being, I would die.
"True, he might be her knight!" Tyra exclaimed enthusiastically and Tenari clapped her hands. "So it's decided!" she jumped to her feet and here I couldn't stand it anymore. Pushing my way between the arms of the two, I ran down to the field where the boys were training, jumping from bench to bench. "Namjoon!" Tenari yelled and one of the men turned to look at us, dropping the sword he was holding. "Get her!" my sister yelled and he raised his eyebrows, lowering his gaze to my running figure.
Great, just a little more unwanted attention. Namjoon walked towards me, he couldn't refuse to follow an order from his guardian and cousin, though confusion was clearly written on his face. Why didn't they just leave me alone? Just because my sister was a guardian didn't necessarily mean that I was either, and even if I was, my power would have manifested two years ago when I turned eighteen and I would already have a knight.
But then nothing like that happened, but my sister persistently introduced me to each new arrival, in the hope that I just haven't found a reason to show my strength yet and one of the new acquaintances might be my knight. Being an Agoran heiress was wacky madness.
"Great" Tyra exclaimed and I looked at her from under Namjoon's arm as I hung upside down from his shoulder. "What's all this about?" Namjoon's soft, calm voice contrasted sharply with his tall, strong build. "We want to introduce her to the new one" Tenari announced and Namjoon turned to look at the man they were talking about, now my sister was peeking out from under my head and grinning at me.
"Come on, Athena, you have nothing to lose" she made that face with the big puppy eyes that she knew I couldn't resist. My blood boiled, but I just couldn't refuse and nodded briefly. "She agrees!" my sister announced, jumping in place and Tenari clapped her hands. Namjoon and I let out a simultaneous sigh. I relaxed, letting my weight hang on his shoulder as he strode back to the field, holding onto my knees, followed by my sister and Tenari.
Namjoon lightly pressed my knees, I knew it was an apology, this scene was repeated with every newcomer. Perhaps centuries ago being a guardian was an honor, girls were still revered, mainly because of the rare cases of the appearance of powers among the Agorans, but in general, there was no need for such euphoria. Their Guardians and Knights were more of an attraction than a necessary force.
I personally preferred the company of humans. They didn't know who I was, what I was like, where I came from and they didn't expect anything from me, which meant that I could safely hide and remain unnoticed. Exactly what I wanted to be right now. My sister just didn't realize that I don't want to, I can't and I'm too shy to get to know anyone who comes my way. I was exaggerating, she claimed.
Ahem, that's exactly why the moment my feet hit the ground I looked like that little girl in Doomsday with her hair covering her pale face until it reached you and blew your mind. Except mine didn't was pale, and probably flushed with shame.
So I just kept my head down, hands clasped in my lap, and waited for the storm that Tyra and Tenari would cause. "Hey, you're new, right?" Tenari asked, I heard my sister giggle, Namjoon sighed in resignation, but not a sound from the man I was supposed to be introduced to. "I'm Tyra, this is Tenari, Namjoon's guardian, and this little animal here is my sister - Athena!" my sister cooed cheerfully and my head was jerked up, my hair tossed back and my paltry self-esteem crushed as my eyes met the most disinterested look I had ever seen.
"Come on, say hi!" Tyra pushed me insistently, Namjoon cleared his throat uncomfortably, and Tenari snorted. I, however, could not say a word. What did they expect, if I would strike up a conversation, and I didn't talk to them either, and one was my sister, the other the closest to a friend I had. The man's eyebrow shot up as if he had suddenly seen something interesting, but the feeling passed instantly and he kept his expression blank as I roasted in a slow hellfire.
"Hey Tyra, why don't you just hide that mouse in the basement where it came from?" came a voice that sent shivers down my spine. Great, Kira, nothing more than a bitch who loved picking on my sister, constantly bringing up the topic that I'm not like her. Perhaps someone would think that I should protect myself, stand behind my sister, protecting her reputation, but in this case, I could neither intervene as a sister, nor stand between the two guardians, if I wanted to continue living.
Yes, my life is an absolute mess. "Why don't you go back to the hole you came out of? The world will thank you" Tenari snorted and Kira laughed. "How long are you going to protect your sister like she's nothing more than a worthless piece of meat?" Kira asked, causing me to turn sharply and look at her. Oh, I can be brave too. "And why don't you go back to that sleeping cat and follow his example, isolating yourself from the world" I hissed. This was too much, being shy and timid is easy, but damn it, I'd be lying if I said my knees weren't shaking in fear when Kira raised an eyebrow and her evil gaze locked on mine.
"Girls, please, this is not the time and place..." Namjoon tried to interject, but was unceremoniously cut off by Kira's hand. "Who do you think you are to talk to Guardian like that?" she asked, poking me in the shoulder with her index finger. If I had known right this second what was coming next, I would have been hundreds of kilometers away by now, but instead, I flew backwards, slamming my back into the stranger's chest and setting off a chain of events I would probably regret later of my life.
They just wouldn't leave me alone, and I really tried not to get involved with any of them. Instead, I found myself in the middle of a war between three guardians, and apparently the subject of their argument was the girl who was supposed to introduce herself to me, but was stubbornly silent. However, when her body collided with mine....
Athena felt as if her body had suddenly found itself in the midst of flames, left behind by an erupting volcano. The pain was so terrifying and unbearable that all she could do was press her hands to her temples and scream at the top of her lungs, hoping to release the tension that threatened to tear her body apart. Waves of heat washed over her one after the other, trying to sever all the muscle bonds in their path and dismember her.
"Jungkook, hold her!" I heard the voice of the military practice teacher and I wrapped my arms around the girl. Her body was on fire, I could feel the heat, but the only pain I felt was high up on my bicep. The air heated up and my eyes followed how a large circle formed around us, while gazes filled with amazement and concern were fixed on the girl, whom I was pressing hard.
"Look at her wrists, it's a 'Chain', she's a Guardian.." the whisper made me look at her wrists. Both were slowly forming a flame shaped tattoo, my eyes unconsciously moved to my right bicep where the same it was shaping up on my skin too. I had seen link building and chains before, but never anything like this. The connection was usually quick, the tattoos were illuminated by a faint light indicating the type of connection and it was all over in seconds.
"Jungkook, she needs you" yelled Mr. Kosari, pointing at his shoulder and I looked at mine, my tattoo was complete and glowing bright red! "Damn it!" I spun her around in my arms and removed her hands, lifting her face, why did it have to be red and why this particular girl?
Jungkook gritted his teeth, her eyes burning, literally, blood red, the flames reflected in his and all he could do was sink his lips into hers, taking her pained screams into his throat, he slid his hands down her back and wrapped them around her waist, pressing her against his body. His tongue slid into her mouth, wrestling with hers. Her body slowly began to subside its shaking, her cries turned into husky sighs and ragged heavy breathing.
Her body slowly relaxed and sagged lifelessly in his arms. Jungkook looked up at his instructor and met the teacher's stunned gaze, then returned to the girl's face again. Red meant soulmate, and his tattoo still shone brightly. He bent down and lifted her in his arms, without taking his eyes off her face. He could still feel the heat even though she was unconscious. "Tyra, show him your sister's apartment and stay away from them, even from here I can feel the heat" Jungkook looked at the girl who was his Guardian's sister. In mere seconds, from a boring training practitioner, he had transformed into a Knight of a girl he was seeing for the first time, with a power he had never seen before. And if that wasn't enough, she turned out to be his soulmate.
