When I've finished my dinner, I try to walk out of my tent, but being sat down for so long relieved the pressure from my leg, Which means that the pain is worse than ever. I cry out and fall to the ground. I hear loud conversations and some campfire songs being sung out of tune, all the boys are making too much noise for anybody to hear me.

BANG!

I expect everyone to stop shouting and singing but they don't. They didn't hear the shot, they can't hear anything.
"Guys... Guys..." I shout as loud as I can. "Oscar!" I doubt anybody can hear me. I pull my arms out from under me and drag myself along the ground. "Oscar!" I shout again because I'm closer now, "Oscar!" Someone hears me this time, I listen to them silence the other guys. "Someone's coming, and they've got guns. And I can't stand up..." I add hoping upon hope that they've got a crutch somewhere in their med-tent." Aspen walks into my tent and supports me as I try desperately to get up.

BANG!

The shots are closer now. Worriedly, I look towards the entrance of the tent. Michael runs in, carrying what looks like a walking stick.
"It was the best I could find, it'll have to do for now." I grab the walking stick as he holds it out for me. I lean heavily onto it and breathe out. "Come on. We have to move quick or they'll know we've got you. Aspen, run ahead and get medical supplies from the tent so we can treat injuries if they come up." Aspen lets go of my arm and runs out. I try to walk with the walking stick but it gives nowhere near the amount of support that I need while walking. Every step I take makes me whine and grimace, but I know I have to move fast so we don't all die. I take another step and cry out.
"I can't do it. I can't, just leave me."
"That would break Oscar's heart and you know it." Michael says as he puts one arm behind my shoulders and another behind my knees. He swings me up and starts running out of the tent. We join up with the others and we sprint out of the forest clearing.

BANG!

It's the same volume as before but scarier because it's more powerful. Everyone else bursts into a sprint, Michael, however, keeps up his steady pace. Soon enough, everyone else has disappeared into the trees and we have no idea where we're supposed to be going.
"Michael. Can you climb?" I point towards the trees.
"Yeah, but not with you." He says apologetically.
"It's ok, I practised with both legs and then with each." He nods and sets me down near a tree with knobbly handholds and footholds.

BANG!

I grab hold of the first bump in the tree with both hands and pull myself up.

BANG!

I find my right leg a place to go and reach up with my left hand.

BANG!

The shots are much closer and there is less time between them. I carry on climbing, grimacing when I have to hold all my weight by my hands.

BANG!

Powdered tree bark blows up in my face. The bad guys are here and I'm neither near the top of the tree with shelter or leaves. I'm only about six or seven feet off the ground, I drop down and hear Michael shout down at me not to do it. I land heavily on both legs.

"Ugh." I run as fast as I can towards the man in black armour and a black helmet with a gun pointed right at my face. He draws back at the last second, when I launch myself at him with all the power in my legs. As soon as I hit him he falls back, I land on top of him and start scratching at his newly exposed face and neck. My nails aren't long but they're sharp and pointy and create long gashes in his cheeks. My final move is to punch him right in the nose. It starts bleeding and he loses consciousness.

BANG!

A bullet flies by my ear and my head whips round. I feel an almost wolf-like presence in me; my anger builds up and breaks out. Again, I launch myself at the black-clad man, pull his helmet off and punch straight in the mouth.

BANG!

"Come quietly and we'll spare your life." Says the man calmly. Déjà vu. I look around me and see a full circle of about five of them advancing on me. I hold my arms up in surrender and wait for them to come closer. I imagine Michael holding in a shout in the tree.
As soon as the circle is only one foot away from me, I bring my arms down, jump and split my legs so I kick two of them in the face. When I come down, I punch one of them in the stomach then knee him where it hurts. My knees are still bent so using the momentum from the last jump I somersault over the last two and elbow them in the back of their heads. I collapse in a heap from exhaustion. There is still one man left.

BANG!

FWHIP!

THUMP...

I look to the tree that Michael was in and see him crouching on a thick branch with a crossbow in his hand.
"You had a crossbow? You had a crossbow and you let me do all that?" I shout at him.
"You were doing so well, and I didn't want to shoot you." He says nervously.
"Ugh. Where do we go now?"
"Um... Nowhere, we have to wait for them to find us.
