A Friend of an Old Friend
I sat in Grillby's. The place was empty, all except Grillby. He stood in front of me, his expression blank.
"I can't do that, I know how old you are," Grillby said.
I tapped the counter and pulled my hood down.
"Come on Grillbs. Can't you make an exception?" I begged.
"Sorry Prince," he shook his head, his voice oddly monotone.
I huffed and crossed my arms.
"I can give you food but I can't give you alcohol, no one would let me hear the end of it," he said.
"No one has to know," I offered.
"I know your adventures are stressful. However, drinking alcohol isn't what you need Cory, especially underage drinking," Grillby lectured.
"I know Grillbs," I huffed flipped my hood back over my blond hair and placed my head in my arms on the counter.
"I can give you Pop," Grillby offered.
"Or coffee," I grumbled.
"Sorry, I'm not gonna do that either," Grillby said.
"Least I tried," I laughed.
He yanked at my hood and I sat back up pulling the hood back down .
"Why do you hide yourself?" He asked.
"Stupid reasons," I shrugged.
I stood up and grabbed the bottle of ketchup. I squirted some on my finger, I licked it off and placed it back on the counter. I placed 10g on the counter and started out.
"I can't accept this Prince," he said.
"Take it for dunkle Sans," I laughed.
He gave a small smile and took the 10g.
"Too kind," he huffed.
"Buh-bye Grillbs!" I called.
"Goodbye Cory," he called.
I closed the door behind me and flipped my hood back up. I walked through the streets. They buzzed with life. A monster with three stripes ran past cheerily. I smiled and kneeled down by a bed of buttercups.
"Can you help me?" A voice asked.
I looked behind me.
A boy wearing a leather jacket and jeans with dark skin and black hair. He seemed distraught as he asked for help from monsters and humans. I picked a flower and walked over to him. My cloak danced in the whispering wind.
"Greetings," I said.
I tapped his shoulder. He turned around and I held the flower out to him.
"Walk with me?" I asked already walking off.
He jogged to catch up to me. We walked in silence as he looked around cautiously fiddling with something around his neck.
"You're scared," I stated.
"Huh? No," he said quickly,"I just needed help."
"Don't lie, child," I said.
He tensed and looked at me.
"You tense, is there a problem back home?" I asked.
"Not really, I uh, ran away from home," he murmured.
"Ah, I had done that too. Once upon a time, and this town, it accepts everyone" I said.
I placed a hand on his shoulder and whispered in his ear,"there's a woman following us, do you know her?"
He glanced around and stared at the woman. He hissed something and took my hand.
"Keep walking," he hissed.
I nodded and we moved. I glanced to the side and saw Papyrus.
"Papyrus! Hello!" I called.
I flipped my hood down and waved him down. He looked over and grinned excitedly.
"HUMAN!" He cheered rushing over to us.
"How are you?" I asked.
"I'M WONDERFUL! WHEN DID YOU GET HOME?" he asked.
"Good, good! I got home earlier today," I said.
"Can you escort me and my guest back to the castle?" I asked.
"OH OF COURSE HUMAN! ANYTHING FOR YOU!" Papyrus said excitedly.
I shook my head and giggled quietly. Pappy's such a goofball.
Pappy started off with us trailing behind.
"Have you seen Sans?" I asked.
"NO, SANS IS PROBABLY NAPPING AGAIN," Pappy sighed.
"Heh, yeah sounds like him," I sighed.
"NYEH HEH HEH!" Papyrus laughed joyously.
I smiled and shifted so this boy was more in front of me.
Ring Ring.
My phone buzzed in my pocket. The boy jumped and looked back. I looked at the number and smiled. It was Azzy. I answered it and put it up to my ear.
"Greetings Azzy!"
"Howdy Cory! When do you think you'll be getting home?"
"I dunno probably in the next minute."
"Wait. . . "
"See ya soon bro!"
"Yay!"
"Love ya' bye."
"Love you!"
I pocketed the phone and smiled at the boy.
"So, what's your name?" I asked.
"I'm Katz," he said.
"Nice to meet you Katz, I'm Cory," I smiled.
He nodded and then fidgeted with a. . . . A gun.
You can feel your sins crawling on your back.
I glanced at the floating figure beside me. Their eyes glittered at the sight and she pointed at them.
"Fun!" She giggled.
I shook my head.
"No, not fun," I huffed.
Katz looked back at me and smiled.
"Pardon me, I only use it when needed," he assured me.
"Can I have it?" Chara asked.
I glared at her but shook my head.
"Please put that away, after. . . Nevermind. My people just aren't fond of weapons unless you are a guard," I stated.
He hesitated and I compromised with him, "just keep it out of sight, that's what I do."
I winked at him and glanced at Chara. Behind her stood a woman following us. She had black hair and a dark dress. She looked creepily elegant. Chara looked back at her too and grinned.
"You think she can see me?" They asked.
I shrugged and continued on.
Ring. Ring.
I answered it.
"Hey kiddo."
"Sans! Wonderful just the guy I wanted to talk to!"
"What you had a problem with the other AUs? Heh heh."
"No, I'm having a problem in this one."
"Where?"
"Meet your brother, me, and a "new found friend" of mine outside of the castle"
"Have you talked to your sister yet?"
"Not yet, I'll talk to her when I get home, right now this is important."
"Ok, sure."
"Talk to you soon Sans."
"Mhm."
I hung up and glanced back. Chara watched the woman closely as she was slowly being dragged with me.
"You ok?" I whispered to her.
"Oh, I'm fine Cory," they shrugged me off.
I smiled and pocketed my phone.
"Was that the comedian?" They asked.
I nodded slightly and they grinned.
"I'm starting to like that guy!"
I smiled and glanced at a flower bed on the side of the road. Roses, tulips, buttercups, orchids, lilies, carnations, and some amaryllis. I smiled and looked back at Chara.
"Do you like flowers?" I asked, to no one in particular.
"Sure I guess," Katz laughed.
I looked at him and smiled, he was rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"I personally, love flowers. And not love as in LOVE I mean love as in love," I said, "sorry that didn't make any sense."
He chuckled and smiled.
"What does that mean?" He asked.
"Ok, well here there are two types of love. There's love, L.O.V.E, and then there's LOVE, L.V. Love normally is where you really like something, L.V or L.O.V.E on the other hand stands for Level Of ViolencE. It's complicated, I know," I laughed.
He chuckled and nodded. Then his face went cold. He stopped dead in his tracks and he just stared. I turned around to see what he was staring at. In the middle of the road stood a female. Her black hair disheveled and she was holding a bulky hammer. She was breathing heavily and stared at us.
"Aph?" I asked.
It's another morning, gotta get up from my bed. What are these thoughts, what are these thoughts that're running through my head?
I guess I'm overthinking but I feel like I'm sinking; I'm going down, going down, going down the drain.
