They continued walking through the forest until they found a Rawst Berry bush. Max, Jake, Churro, Mario, Luigi, Lightning and Klefki each picked a few berries for themselves to eat before moving on.

On their way through the forest, they came across a male Kirlia wearing a scarf around his neck, lying on the ground passed out.

"Oh my gosh!!!! Mario, Lightning!! What do we do? We can't just leave him here..." Luigi gasped.

"Of course not Luigi..." Lightning replied.

"Calm down... There must be something we could do." Mario told Luigi.

Lightning stepped forward and nudged the Kirlia. "Hey wake up!!" She told him.

After a few moments, the Kirlia groggily opened his eyes. He gasped and jumped up in surprise when he saw them.

"What??? Where??? Where am I???" He questioned, looking around.

"Relax... You're just in the forest."

"The forest??? How did I get here???" He questioned.

Lightning cocked her head in confusion. "But you're a Pokémon???"

"A Pokémon!!!" He turned to look at Lightning. He backed up in surprise. "A talking Pikachu!!!" He shouted.

"Ugh... Are you okay... You're acting rather strange... Of course I can talk. You're a Kirlia that can talk. What's the difference???" Lightning asked.

"Wait... Did you say I'm a Kirlia???" He stood up and rushed towards a nearby pond to see his Kirlia reflection. "I'm a Pokémon!!!"

"Ugh... Yeah..."

"Wait... Are you saying that you weren't originally a Pokémon??? Were you perhaps a human???" Mario asked.

"A talking Eevee??? Ugh... I mean yes..." The Kirlia answered.

"Hm..." Mario put a paw on his chin.

"Another human???" Lightning trembled, backing up. Luigi stood in front of her.

"So what's your name???" Mario asked.

"Gabe."

"Gabe? Well I'm Mario and the other Eevee is my little brother Luigi. We're humans too and we're not exactly from this world."

"I'm not from this world either and you two are actually humans too???" Gabe asked.

"Yes." Mario answered.

"It's nice to meet you I guess but who are the other Pokémon with you."

"Oh... This is Klefki, Max, Jake, Churro and Lightning But Lightning is very scared of humans. She managed to trust us but I don't know if it'll be the same for anyone else." Mario introduced.

"Oh... How come???"

"Her mother was captured by one..." Luigi answered sullenly.

"Oh I'm sorry... But I don't plan to hurt you Lightning. I just want to go home."

"Maybe you're here for a reason. Perhaps you are here to help us." Mario replied.

"Help you with what?"

"Help us find out who is behind the odd behavior of the Starter Squad members." Lightning spoke up.

"What's the Starter Squad?" Gabe asked.

"It's a large group of Starter Pokémon who fight crime, but they've been acting like someone has been controlling them and we're trying to find out who is behind it." Lightning answered. "Would you like to help us?"

"Sure..." Gabe nodded.

"Alright." Lightning smiled. "Welcome to our team, Gabe."

"Let's Go!!" Churro replied.

"Not so fast!!!" They turned around to see a large group of Starters surround them. "You're not going anywhere except to prison!!"

"Uh oh..." Lightning mumbled.

"It's an ambush!!! We're trapped!!!" Luigi trembled.

"Luigi... Calm down... We can stop them" Mario said.

"I hope you're right Mario..." Lightning replied with a hint of worry in her voice.
