Part 5
"Hello ___, it's rare to see you." Makino greets with a smile.
"Hey, we got here a bit early, and I wanted to check in with his teachers." You hum peering into the class to see Sunny sitting alone, reading an article.
"He's bright as ever ___, you've taught him somethings above our teaching level." She hums.
"He asked." You shrug.
"I know, very sharp kid... But his social skills...." Makino frowns a bit now.
"He has them, its just, he doesn't fit in here..." You murmur watching Sunny.
"I believe you. I converse with him when I can, it's a shame the kids cant see it." She says softly.
"Well, he seems happy. Maybe lonely though... Any ideas?" You rub your neck.
"I would say maybe a pet that would help him relate with the other kids." She says. You look down.
"We're not allowed pets at the apartment but thanks." You sigh before the bell rings. Sunny comes out and lights up, hugging your leg. "Hey buddy, have a good day?" You ask, picking him up.
"Yeah! Did you see the news?! The Super-Cyborg disassembled a whole science Lab in the Seventh City!" He gushes.
"Wow, go Super-Cyborg." Kid comments.
"Yeah! So what do you guys have to clean up today?" He asks cheerfully.
"Well, Mr. Caesar was with him... I already know that whatever it is, isn't going to be pleasant." You sigh, sharing a glance with Kid.
"Isn't this... I don't know.... Dangerous to students!?" Kid snaps at the science professor.
"That's why you'll be wearing safety suits," The teacher smiles, handing you both one.
"Wow! Sis! He has uranium!" Sunny says, looking up at the chemistry shelf.
"Sunny, don't touch anything that glows in here, okay?" You warn as you and Kid get dressed in the safety suits.
"I won't." He hums. "This stuff is really cool though."
"Oh? Shall I show you how to make a rainbow cloud?" Caesar smiles.
"Yes please!" Sunny gushes.
"Go get on a pair of goggles and gloves." Caesar instructs with a point.
"Well at least he's gonna have fun." Kid rumbles before you both enter the large capsule.
"I'll get this side." You hum, starting to scrub. Work was pretty quiet, but you can hear your little brother gushing about whatever Caesar was showing him. About an hour later, you were done. Exiting the capsule, you find your brother watching Caesar mixing ingredients and making gems.
"Hey Sis! Can I have a chemistry set for my birthday?" Sunny asks as you take off the set.
"Sure. I'm sure I can find one that suits you." You muse.
"Cool! I want to make crystals! Or slime!" He bounces over to you. "Oh! Did you find anything for your project?"
"Yep, I should be able to start tomorrow." You smirk as the cuffs are removed and you lead him and Kid out.
"So when are you going out?" Kid asks.
"Seventh City is a few hours away, and its already late." You tell him.
"Alright I'll tail ya then." He nods.
"Wait... I get to hang out with Kid!?" Sunny asks lighting up.
"Maybe." You smirk before getting in the car. You lead the way to the apartment and up to the room. "Now Sunny, I know you're excited but keep to your schedule okay?" You tell him going through your blueprints before putting them in your backpack.
"Okay Sis... Can we play the games in your room?" He asks cheerfully.
"Sure, but no snacks you little crumb monster!" You hiss playfully, tickling him. Sunny giggles at that. You straighten up, giving Kid your card. "There's our favorite fast food numbers on the fridge if you guys get hungry. He's usually good about staying on his schedule but if he forgets, at least have him in bed by eight."
"Alright, anything else?" He asks.
"Not that I can think of be back soon." I kiss Sunny's cheek before going out. Kid and Sunny look at each other.
"Want pizza?" He asks.
"Yes! Come see my Sister's games!" Sunny pulls Kid into your room and to your game and movie shelf.
"Wow... Good taste.... Let me guess, you want to play, Super 900." Kid pulls out the game.
"Yes! I wanna be RedDemon!" He gushes.
"Which Super does your sister usually pick?" Kid hums popping the game in.
"The Surgeon, she always lets me win unless she's mad at you." Sunny hums.
"I believe it, I get into a lot of fights when I'm mad at her." Kid nods sitting down on the bed with your brother. "It's been a weird couple days...."
"It's been awesome for me!" Sunny cheers.
"That's good."
Had to admit, the car was really comfortable for long trips. Seventh City was beautiful to boot. You stop at the City's monument, a giant fountain. You get out and climb the steps to it, waiting patiently.
"This place is Super beautiful isn't it?" A familiar rumble makes you look over to see Franky.
"Yeah... But I'm a bit worried why you brought me so far from home Franky." You tell him, handing a blueprint.
"Nice... It's too bad you don't focus on engines anymore." He comments. "You're right though, I need help with something."
"Like what?" You frown.
"Well... We need help getting our friend back." He lifts his sunglasses, eyes glowing red as supers land behind him. You look at Rubberman and sigh.
"Come on Franky, what do I have that you guys don't?" You object.
"If anyone can open the Gates of Justice, it's the daughter of the Gate Maker." Franky rumbles.
"Dammit...."
"Sure does keep with his schedule." Kid mutters peering in at Sunny, who was fast asleep. He closes the door, checking the time. His cell rings and he answers it. "Hello?"
"Um... My bed is pretty nice, its soft, and the blankets just got washed." You begin, making his brows furrow.
"You realize you called me and not your friend right?" He tells awkwardly.
".... That did sound like a come on, but don't throw up, because it isn't. I'm beating around the bush to tell you that um... Something- Hey! No! Get down! Dammit, there are cameras up there!" You yell to someone. Kid blinks in surprise.
"You're not coming back tonight, are you?" He guesses.
"I am... But its gonna be really late so you might as well spend the night." You tell him. Kid tilts his head, looking around the apartment.
"You're going to owe me big." He smirks.
"I know and I hate it... But I don't know what else to do Kid, what do you want?" You sigh. His smirk falls at your tone.
"Just get back safely, don't make your brother worry." He says closing his eyes.
"... Gross... Are you being nice? Almost sounded like you were worried." You tease. Kid smirks again.
"You really need more sleep, you're hallucinating." He says.
"Try not to drool on my awesome pillows."
"Oh I'm gonna slobber all over them now."
"Then I'm going to smother you with them."
"Bring it on."
"Later."
The gates open up easily and you smirk a bit. "So predictable..." You mutter before walking out of the control room.
"Shishishi! You're fast!" Rubberman chimes.
"Now I'm going home, we good Franky?" You ask the cyborg.
"Yes, have a safe drive." He rumbles as you go past. By the time you get to your car and look back, the Supers are gone, beyond the Anti-Super wall. You sit in the car looking at the giant wall for a bit before turning the car away from it and driving home.
When you enter to apartment, you were surprised to find it clean. You shrug off your jacket and peer into Sunny's room, going to his bedside and kissing his forehead. His eyes ease open and he hums.
"How was Seventh?" He murmurs softly.
"Beautiful. We'll have to get ice cream there." You breathe, smiling softly.
"Did you see Super Cyborg?" He hums.
"I saw Super Cyborg and Rubberman! As well as, The Green Knight, Black Leg, Storm Cat, Sniper-God, and Chopperman." You tell him.
"Wow! But what were they doing in Seventh?" He tilts his little head.
"They said they had to go get their friend from beyond the Gates of Justice." You breathe.
"But only Dad can..." He trails off, eyes lighting up when you put a finger over your lips. "I have the coolest sister ever." He smiles.
"And I have the coolest little brother ever." You ruffle his hair. "Go back to sleep." You add. He nods and closes his eyes. You go out and peer into your room, finding the room cold and Kid bundled in the blankets fast asleep. You smile a bit, carefully going to your dresser and picking out some clothes.
"Wow, you're pushing it." He hums. "4:00 in the morning... Might as well stay home." Kid yawns, stretching a bit. You look back at him to find his sleepy red eyes on you.
"Shit... Really?" You look at the clock. "Gonna need more-" A pillow hits you in the face.
"Sleep. You're gonna need more sleep." He says getting out of bed, picking you up and tossing you on the bed, bundling you up in your blankets. "And you were right." He straightens up picking up the pillow before getting a blanket from your closet.
"Tch, but I didn't get to work on-"
"And I didn't get to work on your car." He cuts you off. "Today just wasn't a good work day." He goes out and closes the door. You scoff before falling asleep.
