Chapter Six - Hidden in Plain sight
I knock on Clarks door and wait for him to tell me to come in. When he does I open the door and step inside he's sat on his bed just staring up at the ceiling. I sit on the bed and his head lolled to the side to look at me.
"I saw something on Chloe's wall." I told him and then pulled the picture out of my pocket, unfolding it and handing it over. He stared at it for a moment then turned back to me "Yep, it's us."
"How did she get this?" he sat up in his bed staring down at us "How does this even exist?"
"How does she get anything? She's Chloe. A lot happened the day we supposedly came to earth." I rolled my eyes
"You still don't believe it?" he wondered making me sigh.
"I don't like change. Change sucks. It was bad enough when we thought we were abandoned orphans. It's bad enough that we are different but then to be like hey the reason we think your different is because you're an alien! Why can't anything ever be simple. Just once. I like knowing where I am, what I need to do. It helps me keep control. this is not control." i pointed to the picture "This feels like a neon sign no one should be looking at, and the fact that Chloe had it up on her wall and at any point could make the connection that its us? I know she hasn't yet but again it's Chloe and Chloe badgers."
"Hey, calm down." Clark wrapped his arms around me which I returned. He sniffed. Why do you smell weird?" he questions and I pull away
"I don't" i deny
"You do, you smell like spray paint. What did you do?" I bit my lip and turned around "Mia!"
"No, I'm not saying." I folded my arms in denial "You'll have to wait for your present."
"What present." I stuck my nose up in the air refusing to answer

Flying. Everyone dreams they're flying of falling at some point. For me I was flying above the town, and amongst the night clouds and stars. It felt freeing like there was no place I would rather be. Yet it turned dark when I heard the rumbles of a thunderstorm. My head tilted at the interruption. I got closer quickly shocking me.
My eyes snapped open and I gasped as my nose was literally touching my Light shade. i squealed dropping suddenly with a thud onto my bed. Scrambling and jumped up and looked around.
"Clark!" I shouted "Clark!" there was a thunder of steps before Clark ran into my room.
"What? What is it?" He breathed looking for danger. My mouth opened and closed but no words came out at first.
"I...I was flying. Like up in the air nose touching the the light shade." I pointed up to it. He glanced up then back to me.
"You too." he pointed to me " I felt the exact same thing only not as high, I just broke my bed." I groaned in annoyance not another change. Please don't tell me to add to everything else I was going to be able to fly.
"Clark! Mia! Come do your chores, now!" Mom called up to us
"We'll talk about this later, agreed?" Clark asked and I nodded letting out a breath. I quickly got dressed and did my chores then we were all off to the farmers market. Chloe and Pete joined us to help us set up. I brought over another crate of apples and set them down on the table. i winced slightly as a sharp part caught my leg I looked down and saw blood, wiping it away there was nothing. I scowled.
"All hail the homecoming king and Queen." Chloe joked as we looked over seeing Whitney and Lana.
"Oh deep joy, we get to watch Clark go to Lana land." i smirked as the others chuckled. Lana came over to us.
"Clark I didn't see you with Mia at the dance last night." Lana commented
"Yeah.." Clark trailed of as Whitney's look became guilty "I was a little tied up." Lana glance up at her boyfriend. That was an understatement. I thought but kept to myself.
"Hey, congratulations." Dad chimed joining us "That was one heck of a game." he shook hands with Whitney.
"I haven't seen an offence that good since I played." I made my way round to stand next to my brother.
"Thank you Mr Kent." Whitney smiled
"Let Clark play and he'll blow you into next century, eh Dad." Dad gave me the don't start look. I shrugged innocently.
"Come on Mia, let's get the rest of the boxes out of the truck." Clark draped his arm around me and led me away.
"Kent's wait up!" Whiteny called catching up with us "You realise last night was just a joke, right." i moved Clarks hand grip onto Whitney's shoulder and punch him in the stomach. He groaned and that was without harnessing all the strength i knew I had. he started coughing and I turned taking Clarks hand and walking away.
"Was that necessary?" Clark sighed
"Where you're concerned, everything is necessary. Beside if the shoe was on the other foot you'd do the exact same thing and don't you dare deny it." I retort back. Whitney wouldn't drop it though.
"I need the necklace back." Whitney groaned still in pain.
"I don't have it." Clark rebuffed him as we stopped again turning to the blonde jock, who held onto his stomach.
"Look, it's Lana's favourite."
"Then you better go to that cornfield and find it." Clark pulled me away. At the end of the market we were packing up I jumped on the back grabbed the box from Clark, He went back to get another. But he stopped and stared. Looking around I saw Lana with Whitney again.
"If you're gonna drool don't do it over the apples." Clark didn't hear me. I saw Lex come over, he raised his eyebrow at me. "Girl problems." I pointed over at Lana as Whitney drove away.
"Can't knock your taste in women." Lex commented which broke Clarks trance and grabbed an apple. "Gonna tell me what happened last night?" he questioned
"It was just a stupid prank." Clark brushed off putting the apples back.
"You were tied to a stake in the middle of a filed. Even the romans saved that for special occasions. You could have died out there." Lex pressed him.
"I appreciate you helping I just wanna forget it ever happened." Dad came over
"Hey, Clark, what is the hold up son?" Dad questioned handed me another box. I pivoted at set it down.
"Mr Kent, it's good to see you again." Lex held his hand out, this time Dad reluctantly took it ad shook it.
"Lex. Come on we gotta finish up." Dad left
"Okay, Dad." We looked towards Lex
"At least I got a handshake this time." Lex joked and Clark followed after Dad leaving the two of us.
"So, any more plans of nightly extra curricular activities?" He questioned bitting into the apple
"Nope, but if I ever need a partner in crime, I'll know where to come looking." he chuckled and his eyes drifted away "You're wondering about the dainty Lana Lang?"
"That obvious."
"No, every male does. Clarks had a crush on her forever and she barely knows he exists let alone that her boyfriend is a jerk." Lex smirked and walked away eating the apple.
