Around the same time Libricus appeared, the cops whom Amy had called showed up at the Berry house.

"Thank God you're here," Amy said.

"You said there were some kids trapped in this house, correct?" asked Officer Lang.

"Yes, and we don't know what's happened to them-"

At that moment, Amy heard something rumbling. She looked over and saw the house give off a crimson light. The cops immediately dashed over to the front door but were knocked back by an invisible power.

Back underground, the group ran as fast as they could from the enraged monster as he took control of the house and its surroundings. The walls around them started cracking as they ran up the stairs into the red room. Once they got up there, Jason looked over at the far end of the room to see a giant crack opening up.

"HURRY!!!" he screamed.

The crack seemed to follow the kids as they sprinted down the black-and-white tiled hall. Meanwhile, the candles fell off of their walls and burst into flames. Jason and the others reached the stairs that led to the Berry house basement, but Patrick tripped and fell at the base of the stairs.

Patrick screamed in pain and yelled, "Fuck! I think I twisted my ankle!"

"Hang on. I got you!" Jason shouted. Suddenly, Patrick lifted off the ground thanks to Jason. "Keep going!"

"Can't you just carry the rest of us?!" Xavier shouted as he and the others ran up the stairs.

"I'm afraid I'm not strong enough. Go!"

The group made it up the basement stairs, making sure to dodge falling ceiling parts along the way. They managed to make it up to the ground floor but found a sinkhole blocking the front door.

"What the fuck do we do now?!" yelled Patrick.

"Try the back door!" Zoe exclaimed. Luckily, they managed to escape through the back door. Jason put down Patrick and stated, "Here come the cops!"

Officer Lang and his partner, Officer Harris, reached the kids. Lang looked in the back door and said, "What in the hell is happening in there-"

His question got interrupted by an awful, squelching sounds. Lang turned around to reveal his eyes leaking vitreous fluid all over the ground. Libricus had stabbed his eyes with a jagged, fallen wooden board.

Harris stuttered, "Holy fuckin' sh-"

Like Lang, Harris got cut off. Libricus reached over and stabbed the left side of the dark-skinned cop's neck, causing a blood spray that drenched Libricus' face. Amy and her friends ran to the spot to see what happened and came face to face with the beast. The three popular kids froze in place. This event allowed Libricus to dispatch the group one by one. Lauren and Cooper had her throats slashed by the sharp board, and Amy got impaled right through her chest.

As Zoe, Xavier, and Patrick stared in horror at the five mutilated bodies on the ground, Jason's voice echoed through the air,

"Don't fear the book."

Xavier got an idea. He tackled Libricus and pinned him against one of the house's walls. When the book hit the wall, Libricus' mouth started oozing blood.

"Zoe! Destroy the book!" Xavier ordered.

She found a lightning rod that had fallen off the house, ran toward the book, and stabbed downward into the open pages. A hole appeared in Libricus' upper torso as soon as that happened.

"Game over, motherfucker," Zoe declared as she pulled the lightning rod towards her. The hole in Libricus' body expanded downward, leaving behind a large slit. Soon enough, the monster's guts spilled out all over the grass along with a torrent of blood.

Libricus let out another screech as he rotted away into nothingness. Then, the Berry house made a disturbing noise, so Xavier pulled Patrick away as they and Zoe moved as far away as possible.

By then, the neighbors heard what happened and stared at the Berry house as it collapsed into the ground. The once-notorious residence had turned into a pile of wood and bricks in mere seconds.

Pretty soon, everyone could hear ambulances in the distance. As they drew near, Xavier asked, "Do you think anyone's gonna believe us?"

"I doubt it. But as long as we've got each other, the truth will always win," Zoe said.

"Let's hope so," Patrick said.
