WooSan ¦ #20
NO DUCKS ALLOWED!!! That's what the sign read in giant, bold, red letters on the front of the local candy store.
Now, why would such a strange prohibition be on the front of a candy store many may ask. Well the reason is simple. Twenty-three year old, lavender hair, five eight, Jung Wooyoung was the reason behind that sign. Everyday he would stop by for candy and everyday he would have a duck in his bag.
A live, loud, mess making, yet cute duck. And though he kept it in his bag, the owner hated it due to a simple mishap years prior when the duck jumped out and accidentally dumped an entire canister of candy to the ground, causing chaos and also consuming several cookies on display as people scrambled away from the mess.
“That sign can't stop me because I’m colour blind to red,” Wooyoung lied, a proud smile on his face as he walked past the owner, duck in bag, as he bought his daily supply of sweets. “All I see is a white paper.”
“Why you little! Don't lie to me! Your favourite colour is red and I've heard you say it yourself!” The owner, black haired, strangely well built, and dimple smiled Choi San exclaimed, upset that the stupid little duck that he had secretly grown fond of was inside his store quacking at people.
“And? I just don't want to see your sign, that's all.”
San sighed, knowing full well the male wouldn't leave his duck at home even if he begged and his pride was much too big to do something as low as begging.
“Can you just leave the silly little quacker at home?”
“If you want me to listen, then get on your knees and beg,” Wooyoung responded, laughing loudly as he fed his duck a twizzler piece.
“I hate that duck and I hate that you don't listen to ME, your boyfriend of six years!”
Wooyoung snickered, purposely taking out his duck and allowing it to run between aisles as San fought the urge to kick it through the window like a soccer ball.
“One day that silly little thing of yours will disappear and it will suspiciously be in the mouth of the neighbours cat,” San threatened, allowing the white duck to waddle over his floors and terrorize children.
Wooyoung had suspicions that San didnt actually hate the duck and so he didn't worry, knowing that if Uri, his duck, ever got in trouble, San would definitely save it even if he would insist he just did it to keep Wooyoung happy.
With a bag of candy and several other things, Wooyoung skipped home with his beloved duck in his black bag. Uri quacked away, enjoying the daily stroll as Wooyoung talked loud as usual to every person he knew and even if he didnt know them.
“Okay Uri, I'm letting you play in the garden, okay? Behave and don't go out of the yard,” Wooyoung instructed, pointing a finger at the white duck once they got home who simply quacked back as if she understood what her owner said and maybe she did but there was no way to know officially.
Wooyoung let the duck scurry around, videoing her as she chased after butterflies, crickets and other critters that inhabited the yard. His attention was solely on his pet until he heard his neighbour calling out to him.
“I see Uri is keeping the pests away,” Jungwoo, his neighbour, called out with a smile.
Wooyoung focused his attention on the pretty male and smiled. He swore that if he had never met San, he would take a chance and try to date Jungwoo. He was just too pretty to not want to but Wooyoung was loyal and San provided him everything he could possibly need, minus duck love, and so he was happy. Besides, Jungwoo also had someone and that was a whole other factor.
“Yup! She really likes eating the roaches too,” Wooyoung replied loudly, ignoring Uri who was entering the no-no zone.
“I should bring her here. I feel as if a roach invasion might start soon and Lucas is about to have a heart attack,” Jungwoo said, referring to his boyfriend who had a deathly fear of roaches.
“I could definitely do that. I'm sure Uri would lov-”
“QUACK! QUAAAACCCK! QUACK!” Uri cried, catching Wooyoung’s attention and causing him to scream in horror.
“JUNGWOO GET YOUR STUPID CAT AWAY FROM URI!” Wooyoung yelled, dashing to kick Jungwoo’s black cat in order to protect Uri.
Right as Wooyoung was about to send a bone shattering kick to the poor cat, a large hand stopped him and simply picked up the cat and shook it, making it let go of Uri who waddled to Wooyoung with a bent wing.
“Oh Uri my little baby!” Wooyoung cried, ignoring San who had just gotten home and Jungwoo who was frozen from the quick occurrence.
“Here’s your cat,” San simply said, throwing the cat over the fence as he followed Wooyoung inside his house.
Uri was already on the kitchen table, bandages scattered around as the lavender haired male worked quickly to save the damaged wing.
“It's okay Young-ie, Uri will be fine,” San reassured, resting a hand against his boyfriend's shoulder. “She shouldn't have been outside in the first place.”
Wooyoung almost smiled. Almost but he couldn't because of his duck. Did San sound concerned?
“I know. I was watching her but the dumb little cat snuck up right as I was telling Jungwoo that she likes eating roaches.”
San nodded in understanding, sitting beside the male as he finished up on the duck and put her in a box to rest. Wooyoung watched his child for a few minutes, smiling sadly before San realized he had to do something before his boyfriend would sit there all night staring at the duck.
“You want to sleep? I'm tired,” San yawned, stretching as he got up.
No response was heard as the two simply headed to their bed for the night. Sleep was sacred to them and when Wooyoung woke up earlier than usual, he was shocked to find San gone from his spot.
“Now where did my Sannie go?” Wooyoung asked himself, tiptoeing out of the room as he felt a suspicion as to where his boyfriend was.
Closer he inched towards the living room, wanting to be as quiet as possible to prove his suspicions.
“Its okay, Uri. Your little wing will soon be better and you can be all happy again,” San whispered, stroking the duck in his arms as it rested her head against the males strong chest. “Wooyoung-ie will make sure you’re better in no time and then you can take revenge on the stupid little cat.”
Uri let out a half assed quack, seemingly appearing as if she and San did that often and that she loved the males attention.
Wooyoung was melting on the spot. They were so cute together and San showing the duck affection in ‘secret’ made him want to scream in both joy and in a teasing way. Slowly, he crept back to their bedroom, allowing San to keep the secret for the moment and wanting the duck to soak up the affection San didnt give her when others were looking.
Somehow, during Wooyoung’s excitement, he managed to fall asleep and the next time he woke up, San was in bed hugging him tightly. A gentle nudge was all that was needed to wake up his boyfriend and in no time, bleary eyes opened.
“Hmm? Wooyoung-ie it's still early,” San complained, acting as if he hadn't been out of bed cuddling against the duck.
“You weren’t complaining early when you were holding Uri,” Wooyoung retorted, a smile on his face as San’s dimpled smile appeared.
“So you were spying, eh? You're lucky I wasn't strangling it.”
“You would never. Not after I witnessed you giving her attention and love.”
Wooyoung smiled as San grumbled under his breath. He knew San liked Uri and mayhaps he didn't fully love her yet but he would wait for it.
“You're lucky I love you,” San groaned. “That automatically forces me to love everything you love.”
Mayhaps he didn't have to wait so long after all.
