Chapter 28

You sat in Jeff's wildly uncomfortable chair, looking over an assortment of weapons sitting in front of you on his wooden desk. Tonight you agreed to go out killing with Jeff, and now you had to pick your weapon of choice. Before you laid five different weapons, a knife, an axe, a lead pipe, a bat with nails sticking out of it, and interestingly, a fire poker. Your eyes hovered over all the options, while Jeff leaned over you.

"Anything catching your eye? Personally I'm going with Ol' Reliable." He picked up the large kitchen knife on the desk, leaving you now with four options. You rested your chin on the palm of your hand, scanning the different options.

"I think the fire poker and the pipe might not be for me." Jeff shrugged and picked the two objects up, throwing them in his nearby closet. Jeff paced around the room, impatiently waiting for you to pick something. The first time you killed it was with Toby's hatchet, so why not shake it up with the nail bat? You picked up the bat and stood up from the desk, feeling confident in your decision. Jeff beamed walking over and looking at the DIY murder weapon.

"That's badass." You chuckled and placed the bat back down on the desk. You put the hood of your black hoodie up and your (f/c) face mask on. It was go-time. You and Jeff made your way outside, the cold night air hitting you like a brick. The winter was creeping in, and the exposed parts of your face burned at the kiss of the frigid air. Who in their right mind would hang around in a forest when it was this cold out anyway?

Random thoughts flew through your head, until you turned and caught a glimpse of Tim's cabin, then everything went quiet. You saw the lights on and couldn't help but wonder what he was up to. Probably drinking his favorite cheap beer and watching the news. You rolled your eyes and kept walking.

"He's probably been smoking all night, and I bet it reeks in there. I miss the smell of his cheap ass cigarettes..."

You caught yourself lacking for a minute, and immediately tried to push the thoughts out of your head. I mean he was the one who ended things... you didn't want to look like an idiot. You crossed your arms and speed walked past Jeff. Where are these idiots anyway? How can there be this never ending forest and not a single wandering moron around to butcher? Jeff saw you starting to get impatient and ran ahead to keep pace with you.

"You know if we don't find anything we could always hit up a minimart and raid their alcohol." You shrugged.

"I feel like I just did that not that long ago." Jeff chuckled.

"Well get used to it, because we don't do much else around here." You huffed, that last hangover was bad enough, you didn't know if you were ready for another one. You were about to get lost in thought once again, until you heard the far away sound of giggling teenagers. You and Jeff stopped suddenly, the smell of smoke filled the air. There was a campfire nearby, and a gaggle of stupid teenagers were crowded around it. Jeff gingerly jabbed your ribs with his elbow, and the two of you began to follow the cacophony of teenage amusement. The two of you hid behind a bush, and you held your weapon close to you.

You couldn't help but feel a little jittery, The first time you killed was a total fluke. This was the real thing, this was premeditated murder. The thought of this whole thing hadn't really bothered you until right now. The gravity of what you were going to do began to set in, and you weren't sure you were as ready as you originally thought. Jeff looked at you, and saw the blatant panic in your eyes.

"Are you okay?" He mouthed to you. You looked over and shook your head no, beads of sweat beginning to form on your forehead. Jeff placed his hands over his face, you didn't even need to look at his face to know he was exasperated. You couldn't help but wish Tim was here, he would know what to say. Jeff placed a hand on your shoulder, and snapped you out of your panic.

"It's okay." He mouthed. You collected yourself and remembered why you were here. It's not like you were killing people without a reason, they were trespassing. That makes it okay, right? I mean this was sacred ground, and they had no right to be here. I mean you were just following orders, it wasn't anything personal. You looked at Jeff and nodded, and a smile crept back onto his face. Without warning he jumped up from behind the bush, quickly throwing his knife, burying it in one of the teenager's faces. There were six of them, four girls and two guys. At first you could recognize their differences, the girl in front of you was your stereotypical looking valley girl. You decided to do away with her first. You followed suit, jumping up and swinging your spiky bat down, plunging it into the head of the girl in front of you.

You froze for a moment, not knowing what to do next. Jeff ran over and grabbed his knife, chasing the teenagers that were starting to run away. You followed suit, grabbing your weapon and taking off after the fleeing teens. It all started to blend together after that, almost like you blacked out. You couldn't tell any of them apart from each other anymore, all that mattered was you were going to wipe them off the face of this planet

You came up behind one of them, swinging your bat at their head as hard as you could. Blood splattered all over your hoodie. You didn't let it slow you down, you ran after another one, hitting them in the back and knocking them down. You raised your bat again for another hit, bringing it down with as much momentum as you could muster. Your heart was beating a mile a minute, and your breathing was heavy. You felt exhilarated, the adrenaline taking over as you chased down your last victim. The jet black infection on your hand began to spread slowly onto your forearm, with every kill came a comforting warmth emanating from it.

You slammed the last victim up against a tree, pinning them there by their neck with the handle from your bat. The teenager cried, and pleaded for their life. However there was a powerful ringing in your ear, almost like a static. You didn't hear a word they said, not that it would've saved them anyway.

You pulled the bat away from their neck and grabbed them by their face. You spun them around and snapped their neck. They fell to the ground, and the static ceased. You felt the world snap back into place. You looked down and saw one of the teenage boys, covered in blood you smeared all over his face. For a moment you couldn't believe it was real. You turned around and saw your trail of carnage, bodies laid along your path of destruction. It suddenly set in that you caused this. You felt a nauseous feeling building up in your stomach and covered your mouth, trying hard not to gag.

You felt sick to your stomach, for the first time in a while you were hit with a sense of clarity. You looked over at your hand and saw that the infection had gone past your wrist and onto your forearm. You held your infected wrist in your other hand, staring at it. A comforting warmth emanated from the infection. You couldn't help but be reassured, thinking maybe it was some sort of sign. You heard leaves crunching, and looked up to see Jeff running towards you.

"That was totally badass!" Jeff ran up to you and grabbed your shoulders.

"You for sure got more than me, that was amazing!" He shook you lightly, stopping when you didn't respond.

"Everything alright?" You shook your head, and looked Jeff in the eye with a smile on your face.

"Yeah I'm alright... I need a drink though." Jeff chucked, and swung his arm around your shoulder. Walking towards the mansion.

"Well you definitely earned one, let's get you something good."

~~

You and Jeff sat in the living room of the mansion, sharing a large bottle of stolen liquor. Your goal was to get absolutely plastered, and you were pretty much there. The TV blared, playing some sort of horror movie Jeff picked out. The two of you critiqued the methods of the fictional slashers, making fun of how cheesy it was. Hanging out with real serial killers made you realize just how flawed some of these movies truly were. You took another long swig from the bottle, feeling yourself get more and more inebriated.

"Man you're really drinking to forget tonight huh?" You rolled your eyes, gripping onto the large bottle.

"Why don't you mind your own damn business..." You began to slur your words, the room beginning to spin. Your face felt warm, and everything seemed so funny.

"Alright well you have fun with that, I'm going to bed." Jeff got up off the couch and started to walk towards the stair.

"Don't go! Pleeeease!" You called out, mustering the most pathetic looking puppy dog eyes you could. You really didn't want to be alone right now, not after the night you had. Jeff didn't seem to care, he was ready to get some sleep.

"You're on your own, goodnight." He walked up the stairs and towards his room, leaving you alone in the dark, empty, living room. It was dead quiet in the mansion, with the night killers all being out and the day killers all being asleep. You turned off the TV and took another long swig of your drink. The cold liquid felt less like vodka and more like water the more you drank it. You didn't know what to do, there was no way you were gonna be able to sleep tonight.

You looked down at the bottle, the cheap alcohol reminding you of Tim. You felt a lightbulb go off in your head, and you'd surely regret it by morning. You smirked, looking around to make sure no one was watching.

You got up off the couch and slowly crept down the hallway and over to the door. You made sure each step you took didn't make any noise, trying your best to walk straight. You brought the bottle with you, taking another sip of your liquid courage. You didn't know what you were going to do when you got there, but you knew one thing for sure, there was no way you were sleeping alone tonight.

You got to the large main doors of the mansion, your drunk mind trying to figure out how to open the doors without making any noise. You slowly reached out, grabbing the doorknob gingerly in your hand. You twisted it slowly, sneaking out the door the moment you felt you had enough space. You quietly shut the door behind you, and took off running towards Tim's cabin. You tried not to walk atop of any fallen leaves so as to not draw the attention of any of your fellow mansion goers. You stumbled all the way there, walking up to the door. You noticed the light was on, and felt your heart leap. You raised your fist to knock on the door, and froze.

You had a feeling in your gut this was a really really bad idea, but you knew what you wanted. You lowered your fist and took another drink. You screwed the cap back onto the bottle and took a deep breath, throwing the bottle behind you onto the ground.

You knocked on the door, feeling like you were going to throw up and scream all at the same time. It was silent behind the door, you waited there for what felt like forever. Just when you were about to give up and walk away Tim opened the door, looking more disheveled than ever. His hair had gotten shaggy, and you couldn't help but notice he had a bit of a scruffy, unkempt, beard. His scowl quickly turned to a look of shock when he saw you on his porch, drunk as a skunk, covered in blood.

"(Y/n)...? What are you doing here...?" You smiled wide, and wrapped your arms around Tim.

"I missed you~" You said in a sing-song voice. Tim quickly pulled you inside and shut the door, knowing how dangerous it was for you to be here. He tried to pry you off of him, but you didn't budge.

"Did you grow a beard...? It looks reeeally good." You giggled, grabbing his face with your bloody hands. He grabbed your wrists and slightly pushed you away.

"What on earth are you doing here? Do you know how dangerous this is?" You smirked, and wiggled your wrist out of his grip to boop his nose.

"Danger is my middle name."

"You are so drunk." Tim sighed. He paced around his living room trying desperately to think of something. What if someone saw you? Does HE know you're here? Questions raced through Tim's mind as you started walking towards him. You wrapped your arms around him once again, comforted by the familiar feeling of Tim. Tim froze, and looked at you, god how he missed you. He tried not to let himself get sucked back in, he had been doing so well. Now you were here again, flying into his life like a tornado. He hesitated at first, but quickly melted into your hug, holding you tight in his arms and placing a kiss on the top of your head.

"Why are you here (y/n)?" You pulled away slightly, looking up at Tim. Without warning you grabbed his face and smashed your lips against his. Tim was completely caught off guard, where on earth was this coming from? He tried to fight you at first, but it had been way too long since he felt your lips against his, and frankly there was nothing he wanted more in this world than to kiss you again. He was only human after all. He held you tight, it had been too long since he'd had this luxury. You tried to deepen the kiss, but Tim wanted answers. He pulled away and held you at a distance.

"Please tell me what's going on, are you okay?" You looked down at the floor, refusing to meet his gaze. Tim looked you up and down.

"Does it have something to do with the blood that's all over you?" You nodded, resting your head against his shoulder.

"I killed some people, and I kinda liked it." Tim sighed, pulling you in for another hug.

"I just didn't want to be alone, I needed you." He felt his heart shatter into a million pieces, if that wasn't the most heart wrenching thing he had ever heard he didn't know what was. You looked up at him with tears in your eyes, holding onto his shirt for dear life.

"Please don't make me leave Tim, I need you." Him sighed exasperatedly. He knew damn well if anyone caught you here it would mean the end for both of you. But he just couldn't say no to you. He couldn't remember when he became such a softie.

"Let's get you cleaned up, I'll find you some clothes." He kissed your forehead, and led you upstairs, you knew this was the right decision. Tim started the shower and handed you a folded outfit and a towel. You pouted.

"You mean you're not coming with me?" Tim chuckled.

"Are you serious right now? I'm in enough trouble for even letting you be here!" You rolled your eyes and smirked, stumbling over to the shower.

"You know I missed you a lot." Tim smiled and walked over to you, placing a quick kiss on your lips.

"I missed you too, now take a shower and come to bed." You smiled, and closed the door behind you. Tim walked over and laid in his bed, he knew what the two of you were doing was wrong but he didn't quite care. You were the one thing on this planet that made his life worth living, and you being here tonight reminded him just how much sunshine you brought to his life. He also knew that things would go back to normal in the morning, but for now he didn't care. He listened to the shower water turn off, and couldn't help but be excited knowing he was going to share a bed with you again.

You walked into the room wearing Tim's clothes, and stumbled into bed, the smell of cheap alcohol still lingering on your breath. You wrapped your arms around Tim's neck and kissed him, he pulled you in, turning off his light and pulling the blankets over the two of you.

"Now get some sleep will you, you lush." You laughed, realizing just how much you missed this. You yawned and cloud your eyes, finally feeling safe enough to sleep.

"Goodnight Tim, I love you."

"I love you too."
