11: facetime

Sitting in my room, I looked into my mirror to make sure I looked okay. I don't know why Wyatt's friend Jack was wanting to Facetime me, I don't even know him. But he did make a point, all of them are coming to stay with me for about three weeks so we should get to know each other, I don't want people staying at my house that hate me.

Wait a second.

Wouldn't they be staying at Wyatt's grandparents? I know he had his mom talk to my mom about it, cause my mom was extremely confused as to why I was actually happy that Wyatt was coming home, seeing as there was always awkward tension and such whenever we were around each other. She didn't know he stopped talking to me, she didn't know how he hurt me. I couldn't come to tell her, her best friend was Wyatt's mom.

Honestly, I hadn't even changed from my competition uniform. I was too worn out and tired from dancing, that I hadn't even thought of changing because I immediately messaged this Jack kid. I'd looked at a few photos of him, and he was pretty cute. I'll have to ask Wyatt about him later.

I was cut out of my thoughts by my ringtone going off, a random number wanting to Facetime me. Letting out a breath, I picked up my phone and clicked the answer button, a teenaged boys face soon popping up into view.

"Wowza you look cute, why are you all dressed up?" He asked, a smile showing over his face. I couldn't help but smile back, he'd complemented me and smiled, and his smile was adorable.

"It was my outfit for comp, I just haven't changed yet. I'm too lazy." I said, and he nodded in understanding.

"Wow, your eye makeup looks really good! Are you a makeup artist?" He asked, and I shook my head as I chuckled lightly.

"Not exactly, I just do it often and the more I've done it the better I got at it. Wanna see it close up?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows. He nodded again, and I moved my phone closer to my face.

"Wow, so pretty." He mumbled, as if I couldn't hear what he was saying. I saw his phone light up with a flash, and took my face further away from my phone.

"What did you just do?"

"Nothing." He simply smiled. "So tell me, how did you meet the Wyatt Oleff?" He changed the subject.

"Shouldn't Wyatt have told you how we met if he's talked about me a lot?" I asked.

"Well, yeah, but I want to keep the conversation going so we can stay on Facetime longer." He replied.

"Oh, alright. We met through our parents. Our moms are best friends, have been since high school and our dads know each other through our moms. So we're pretty much family," I said.

"So you guys see each other often then?" He asked.

"Well, we did. Then he started acting which I was very happy for him but we kind of drifted, did he ever tell you about that?" I asked.

"Well, he said he hurt you really bad but wouldn't tell any of us why. Not even Jaeden or Sophia and he's closer to them than he is the rest of us," He said.

"Sophia?" I questioned, wondering if this was his girlfriend or something.

I've seen the movie IT, so I'm guessing she's the girl that played Beverly since he described them as 'cast mates' and she's the only girl, but I was still curious on what he meant since he said he's closer to her outside of working. And I remember she commented on my photo and I called her queen, but I don't exactly know who she is.

"They're not dating or anything. Everyone thinks they are but they're not. They're just best-" Jack stopped, noticing my eyes widen slightly. "Friends. Just close friends." He changed his words, and I appreciated he just didn't want me upset, but it hurt.

Wyatt and I were best friends, and he replaced me.

"Collette, you okay?" Jack asked, and I almost forgot that we were even on Facetime together.

"Oh, yeah I'm okay. Just a little bit worn out and tired because of comp." I mumbled. "Do you mind if I leave you on Facetime but go to the bathroom and change into pajamas?"

"Of course! I'll be here waiting. Actually, I might go get something to drink real quick cause ya boy is thirsty." He said, and I chuckled as I stood up, setting my phone on my dresser. After grabbing pajamas I walked into the hall and into the bathroom, shutting and locking the door behind me.

Although it was only me, my mom and dad living in our house, it was still a habit of mine to always lock doors behind me. So whenever I'm home alone, all doors are always locked. When I'm in my room my door's locked, and when I'm in the bathroom the door's locked.

I quickly changed into my pajamas; just a baggy red t-shirt and short black shorts, before walking out and back into my room where Jack was patiently waiting on his phone. He seemed to be watching something other than his phone, and by the way his face was lighting up lightly I assumed it was TV.

"You're back!" He happily said, once again bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, right. Yeah. I'm back." I said, smiling as I shoved my dirty laundry into the basket and grabbed a makeup wipe out of the packet.

"You took forever!" He jokingly said, and I grabbed my phone and sat it in front of me as I sat in front of the mirror to clean my face.

"No I didn't, you loser." I rolled my eyes, starting to wipe my face.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Taking all this makeup off my face. You know, it's not good to keep makeup on over night." I replied, glancing over at my phone. He was just smiling, and it was like the smile hadn't left his face since the moment we got on Facetime.

Stop thinking like this, Collette. You met this boy just the other day, only started talking to him today. You're going to start thinking that you're the reason he's smiling, and get caught up in feelings you shouldn't. Just stop.

"Collie?" Jack asked, and I noticed he'd called me a name nobody has called me before.

"What?" I asked, throwing the towelette away and grabbing my phone off of the ground.

"Is it okay if I call you that?" Jack asked, as I walked out of my bedroom and back into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I might as well get ready for bed, I don't know how long Jack and I will be on this call and it's already midnight. I have to be up in six hours for school.

"I don't mind. I like it." I replied. "Nobody's ever called me that before." I grabbed my toothbrush, getting it wet and putting some toothpaste on it before lightly wetting it again, putting the brush into my mouth after.

As I started to brush my teeth, Jack spoke again.

"Really? Well, then it's my nickname and mine only. If Wyatt tries to steal it I'll kill that fucking jew." (LOL THROWBACK TO THE VIDEO WHERE JACK WAS LIKE 'i hate u wyatt ur a fucking jew)

I snorted, toothpaste accidentally going up my nose. "Jesus Jack!" I mumbled, coughing as I filled a small dixie cup up with water and washing my mouth out.

"I'm serious, okay?" He said, trying to contain his laughter. I cleaned up my mess, grabbing my phone and walking out of the bathroom yawning.

"What time is it where you are?" Jack asked, noticing the tired look on my face.

"It's midnight. I have to be up in six hours for school." I replied, sitting on my bed. I was laying the opposite way, on my stomach.

"It's only ten here, we're two hours apart!" He said happily, and I couldn't help but smile lightly. My eyes were repeatedly shutting, but surprisingly I was enjoying talking to Jack.

"Do you want me to let you go so you can sleep?" Jack asked, and my eyes shot open.

"No, no. I'm okay. I'm awake." I said, smiling at him.

"Sure, you are. We can always fall asleep on Facetime if you want?" He offered, and I considered taking him up for his offer for a moment.

"Maybe sometime in the future, Jack. We still barely know each other. We can text throughout the day tomorrow, and keep getting to know each other, okay? But once we know each other then maybe. I'll think about it." I said, resting my head on the hand that wasn't holding my phone.

"Alright, sounds like a plan. We talked way longer than I expected to," He said.

"Because you're not as annoying as I thought you were." I replied, earning a chuckle from him.

"Well you just wait until you meet me in person. I'll be the most annoying person in your life," He said.

"You couldn't take that spot," I said.

"Why?"

"Because that spot belongs to Wyatt."
