Prologue

When Ty told me that he was going to be a superhero, I was so excited. When Ty told me that he was receiving help from a billionaire, I thought it was sketchy, but still cool. When Ty told me that he was spying on a crime boss, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. If I had known then what I knew in the future, I would have told him no from the very beginning, and I never would have encouraged him to be the superhero that became known as Shadow-Man.

I had to watch Ty get his brains blown out on live television, by the same crime boss he was spying on, after the man had already busted up his face, broken both of his legs, and broken a few ribs. It was a horrifying thing to watch, and hard to get over.

I was able to move on though, but not without the help of Ty himself. Part of the last thing Ty said before he was killed, was that he didn't want people like Pip to win. Pip was the crime boss who killed Ty, though his real name was Piare. It was those words that made me decide to become a superhero too, with the help of the very same billionaire who helped Ty become Shadow-Man.

The billionaire's name was Steven, and he had pale skin, with brown hair, and brown eyes. He had a friend, at least I think they were friends, named Warren. Warren had blonde hair, and almost tan kind of skin, with rust colored eyes that were speckled with green. Those two had another friend, a blonde girl with brown eyes, named Jess. She ended living with Warren and Steven after Ty had helped her after she was raped. She was able to help Steven out a lot down in his lab, so Steven let her stay.

Those three were very good at what they did. They trained Ty, and taught him how to fight, and how to be agile as all hell. They also built his suit, and helped him plan out missions when it came to spying on Pip. They agreed to help me become a superhero, and train me like they did with Ty, and make me a suit.

A came up with a few costume ideas, and we decided on one to use. It was mostly white, with different parts of orange and yellow. I had decided to be Shadow-Man's counter part. While Ty's suit was black and grey, and he worked in the dark, my suit was bright colored, though I still worked in the night too. My superhero name was going to be 'Sunshine', even though it sounded kind of lame.

That's what I wanted though, and I was sure Ty would have supported me, and been proud of me no matter what name I chose. I missed Ty greatly, and mourned over him quite a bit. He was my boyfriend after all. God did I missed him.

I couldn't believe it when Ty had told me that he had romantic feelings for me. Then he continued to go on about he wasn't even sure if I liked him back, but that he just had to tell me. He started to talk about how he was worried that I would hate him, and I just had to shut him up. So I kissed him. Well, not a kiss as much as me just smashing my face painfully against Ty's, but it shut him up, made him blush, and felt amazing to me.

But he was dead, and I would never get to kiss him again. I would never hug him, or hear his voice, or be the shoulder that he fell asleep on in class. He would never get to see another star, or marvel at a golden sunset, or hear birds chirping again. He was buried in a hole deep in the ground, under six feet of dirt, in a wooden, padded box.

I was grieving, and mourning the loss of my closest, and only friend. But I had a job to do. I had a purpose in my young life, and that was to pick up where Ty left off, and clean up the crime that was plaguing the city streets, and take Pip down once and for all.
