The world is a scary place
"Home!" Roman cried out to his parents, kicking off his shoes.
His mom hummed, continuing to wipe off the counter.
"I brought a friend home," he said casually.
His mom, Katie, looked up, making eye contact with the girl in front of her, her eyes went wide.
"Do I need to start making rules?" Katie asked with a raised brow.
The girl, Stacey, gave a polite laugh, "Actually mam, I'm not even attracted to men," she said with a sheepish smile. Roman gawked at her, why would she say that? Did she want to get whipped by the rag Katie was holding?
"I see," Katie said dryly, glaring at the girl. Katie turned to Roman, "Roman, I think your friend needs to leave, you don't need to be associating with people like her."
"But mom, we have a project in English we're working-" Roman started, only to be cut off by his mom.
"No problem, I'll talk to the teacher and tell them to get you a new partner, one with more, normal habits." She said coldly, giving a harsh look towards Stacey.
"Oh," Stacey said quietly, looking at her feet, "I guess I should be going then."
"Wait, Stacey, no it's-"
"Yes, yes you should," Katie cut him off, "Have a nice night, Stacey."
"Thank you, goodbye," Stacey whispered, hurriedly walking out the door.
"Mom, what the heck? You didn't have to do that! She just said she wasn't-"
"Don't talk to me like that!" Katie spat out, "And besides, I will not let people like her into my house, she's only like what, 10? 11? And already thinks she's a faggot."
"Mom!" Roman cried out, "That's rude!"
"Well so is sinning, she probably has gay parents, and that's why she thinks-"
"Mom stop! I really liked Stacey, she's amazing!"
Katie laughed, "Well she won't like you back till she gets over this phase-"
Roman sighed, "It's not a phase! She's fine! I don't like her like that-"
"Enough! I will not let you talk back to me like that!" Katie slammed the bowl she was putting away on the counter, causing Roman to flinch.
Roman grumbled as he went upstairs to his room, plopping down on his bed and pulling his phone out of his pocket, going to his messages.
Roman: Sorry about my mom Stace, she hates everything.
Stacey: it's ok! A lot of parents are like that...
Roman: Well they shouldn't be! What's wrong with liking girls?
Stacey: It's not liking girls they hate, it's liking the same gender, for whatever reason. -_- I gtg dinner
Roman: k, ttyl
Stacey: Happy week early birthday!
Roman smiled, putting his phone down and laying there.
Roman stared at the ceiling, what would be wrong with him liking another boy? He thought about growing up with another boy, perhaps Carlos, having children together and getting married.
Roman felt his face heat up, and he covered it with his hands, "Oh my god," he thought, "I am 99% sure I like guys."
