Return

Aizawa had gotten nowhere with Todoroki. The teen had stayed in his room the whole time his teacher visited and talked.

After half an hour of waiting, Aizawa got up from the foot of the door with a sigh.

"We will find Midoriya, you have my word." Aizawa ended.

He didn't like promises, but he knew that midoriya would be found. Deep in his gut he knew Midoriya would return.

Midoriya's whereabouts were not a lost cause.

Tsukauchi was working to get in contact with an information broker who allegedly knows someone who could help. It just took time.

Aizawa left to go down to the elevator, it was an hour and a quarter till noon, meaning he had to start getting a headcount of the kids who returned and assess any wounds they may or may not have.

He then had to sort out the kids who needed to see Inui--the counselor at UA--and those who need to see Recovery Girl. Mental and physical wounds were very important, UA wanted to make sure the kids knew how to cope and handle the outside world.

Or at least the evil in the outside world.

Aizawa had taken the liberty to sign Iida and Todoroki up for counselor sessions once Inui came back.

Inui was on a vacation for the time being. A well needed vacation.

And Aizawa was semi jealous.

But he simply sighed, grabbed his clipboard and watched his students come in from work studies.

Todoroki had heard all that his teacher said through the door. His teacher's promise did nothing to lift the teen's spirits though.

If he had been faster...

If he had been stronger...

If he had been able to fight the Hero Killer head on...

If he hadn't been weak enough to get stabbed, then Midoriya would still be here.

But Todoroki was simply a child still. A useless child.

His father told him as much growing up.

"Shotoooo! If you can't take this, then how can you expect yourself to beat All Might? Don't be so useless!"

"Hey, I saw you enter that funk again--where you reminisce about the past. But I want you to know that you're amazing and perfect the way you are. Don't beat yourself up for not getting first place, you did your best and that's all that matters!"

Todoroki sighed, curling his legs closer to his chest, careful not to crinkle the notebook.

Midoriya's beloved notebook.

Number Thirteen was almost completely filled, with only seven pages left. Midoriya had spent the night over in Todoroki's dorm to finished filling it in. It was the last full night before Hero Studies, and Todoroki had been having horrible nightmares, and Midoriya had taken notice of the bags under the duel-quirked boy's eyes.

Secretly, Midoriya had packed a small overnight bag and knocked on the door. Todoroki had finished his extra training and was resting before bed at the time, so the greenette was allowed inside. They had talked to each other about their nightmares.

Midoriya knew Todoroki's fear was feeling useless and inferior to everyone.

Afterall the split teen had just recently experienced the freedoms UA provided, and had been able to gain supporting friends. He wasn't just good for beating All Might anymore, he had found his own purpose to become a hero.

He also knew Midoriya's fear. The greenette didn't want to die alone. At the time Todoroki found it an odd fear. Wouldn't it be peaceful dying alone? Where no one annoying would be around. But Todoroki didn't question the peculiar fear.

Afterall, he was happy Midoriya was helping him at all. He didn't want to push the smaller teen into answering more questions than comfortable with.

Over the course of that night, Midoriya had filled out four more pages of the notebook with the help of Todoroki. Then they both popped in a movie and fell asleep.

Todoroki always felt calm around Midoriya. The greenette was always so open and kindhearted that it rivaled a calming quirk. Todoroki, having not received much affection as a child, had separation anxiety from those he trusted.

His small group of friends were no exception, especially Koda and Tsu, who gave some of the best hugs. Aoyama was also a great hugger according to Todoroki.

But Midoriya was the first to help him, so ultimately, Todoroki took the news of his disappearance the hardest.

Midoriya always seemed to know whenever Todoroki had a nightmare and would make the teen tea or calm the teen down.

Now Midoriya was gone.

The nightmares were back.

He couldn't look anyone in the eyes.

And all he had was Notebook Thirteen.

Eventually all the kids trickled in and were accounted for. None had serious injuries, but some seemed slightly shaken up. Aizawa would write them a note to Inui during homeroom one day this week to see the counselor.

Eventually, the full seventeen were in the common room. A few were quiet and others normal.

Aizawa cleared his throat before standing up and making his way to the center of the room. Stray students made their way to sit on leftover seats or the floor. There was a serious air to the room, it was left obvious as the chatting ceased.

"Now that we are all relatively here, I need to inform you of something."

Aizawa paused, shifting thiugh wordings in his head. He couldn't be too blunt but he couldn't feather the news either.

Yaoyorozu spoke up quietly, "But sir, not everyone is here. We are missing Iida, Midoriya, and Todoroki."

Aizawa looked at the girl who was seated at the far end of the left couch.

"I'm sure some of you in the surrounding areas heard that the Hero Killer was taken down." A few students nodded their  heads in acknowledgment. "During the process, a hero was injured as well as Iida, who was shadowing a separate hero in the area. Then Todoroki was injured after being sent out to check up on the noises. They are safe now and in their rooms recovering. Don't bother them."

Aizawa opened his mouth to continue explaining but Kaminari beat him to it.

"But what about Midoriya?"

Aizawa risked a glance towards Bakugo. He has seen on Midoriya's files that the Bakugo family were listed as secondary emergency contacts. So Aizawa had deduced that their families were closer than the average childhood friend scenario.

Bakugo was silent, attentive with a small scowl. But it was softer than his usual one.

"Midoriya was also at the fight, he was the one to finally take down the Hero Killer and notify officers and other pro heros. However when heros arrived on scene, Midoriya was gone."

Some of the class jumped up and began firing off questions at the tired Pro.

Not bothering to get them to shut up, Aizawa just continued with his announcement. "We do not know what happened or where he is at, but we are gathering people who can help us narrow places he could be. When we get new information, you all will be one of the first to know."

Having finished, Aizawa turned to leave the dorms, however Uraraka had other ideas.

"Uh--um Sensei?" She asked timidly, playing with her fingernails.

"What?"

"How are--you said--I mean I just--are Todoroki and Iida okay?" She stumbled on her words, but her concern for the two were evident. She was worried sick over Deku but she also had faith that the Hero's would find him safely. She couldn't help them, and she knew it.

Afterall Class 1A were only students.

But Todoroki, Iida, Tsu, Koda, and her  were close to Midoriya.

Bakugo too, though he would never admit it.

She knew how close Midoriya was to most of the class, but especially those five. Their small group commonly had sleepovers and massive cuddle piles.

"They aren't handling it too well, and they're taking it hard. Though I presume it will hit everyone hard over the next couple of days."

If we don't find Midoriya soon, reality will set in and my students will be emotional messes. Though I can't blame them, this class is one of the most tight knit that UA has ever had.

Uraraka nodded, "Oh--okay sir." With shaking legs and a trembling lip, she turned back to her classmates who were either whispering to their groups, staring at her and Aizawa, or sitting silently.

Bakugo was looking at his hands, his lips trembling as he attempted to keep a scowl on his face. Eventually he let his facade fall and simply pursed his lips, clenching his fist.

Jiro was sitting in the corner, watching everyone's reactions.

Mineta was shaking slightly, in fear of the unknown.

Aoyama was leaning on Yaoyorozu as she patted his hair, both looked to be saddened by the news.

Others like Mina, Kirishima, and Sato seemed taken aback and unable to believe that their friend was taken.

Uraraka saw all this as she scanned the room for her close friends. She wanted to check on Iida and Todoroki. But she knew everyone would want to check on them together.

This was a time where everyone needs to be together.

So she shuffled over to Tsu who was wiping the tears from her cheeks. She gently grabbed the greenette and whispered the plan in her ear. Tsu consented by nodding. Then they located Koda who also agreed to their plan.

The three made their way to Iida's room first. Usually they had the sleepovers in Midoriya, Koda or Todoroki's room.

The group had a nagging suspicion that Todoroki was impacted moreso by the disappearance of the greenete as the two were almost always joined at the hip.

Midoriya was almost always in either Koda's or Todoroki's room anyways.

Once they arrived at the door, Iida was quick to answer. Even though he seemed to be holding up at first glance, the group of three saw straight through the disguise.

Koda grabbed Iida's hand and Uraraka grabbed the other. Tsu hooked arms with Uraraka's free side and they escorted a confused Iida to Todoroki's dorm.

While on their trek across the hall, Uraraka had attempted to playfully match Iida and Koda's stride. Tsu joined in a second later, chuckling slightly. It didn't last long though, because the boys had longer legs and the girls couldn't keep up. Uraraka had accidentally stumbled and ended up yanking the chain backwards, Tsu crumbling on top of her and Iida jerked backwards.

Koda, turned back to see what the sudden halt was about, yet ended up quietly laughing at the silliness of his friends.

Tsu pushed herself off of Uraraka and stood on her feet. Then both Iida and Tsu have out their hands to pull a giggly Uraraka off the carpet.

Then they continued walking, the mood still slightly damp, but lighter than it was.

They knocked on the door but no response was given.

A moment later, Koda knocked a special pattern on the door.

It was the secret knock that only their group knew. It helped them out when someone was in need of comfort.

"'Roki, it's us, kero." Tsu said in her slightly gravelly voice.

A faint shuffling was heard before the door opened a crack and a disheveled Todoroki appeared.

It had only been a few days since the Hosu incident but everyone could tell Todoroki was not taking care of himself. He looked thinner, and unhealthy. His hair was matted and messy, and he had red eyes with fresh tear stains running down his face.

He was clutching one of Midoriya's notebooks, causing Iida's breath to get caught in his throat.

Slowly the four made their way into their friend's room. Todoroki had gone to his bed and laid down again. Koda and Tsu busied themselves with pulling a few beanbags from out of his closet.

Todoroki didn't have many items so they had stuffed games and chairs inside, with the owner's permission of course.

Uraraka closed the door and locked it. She knew that everyone was taking the absence for Midoriya hard, but most were holding it in only to let it out later.

With the beginning of tears in her eyes, she wobbly started talking.

"We--No one is leav-leaving until we all get our e-emotions o-o-out."
