Epilogue
Michael walked his same route months later in the brisk of winter.
He'd see the same hill at 8 o'clock and the dark sky filled with snow clouds and the sun gone, no longer there to bring him warmth.
Michael never saw Luke again, he knows what happened. It was all over the news, and he hopes he's in a better place now. That he's with his parents, the only people who seemed to make the sad boy smile.
But it doesn't stop Michael from sitting on a snow frosted hill at 8 p.m. to stare at a black sky, thinking about the boy he once met here. Imagining if he'd be there next to him that day or if he still would've left this world without a second thought.
He'd never forget him.
Michael would never forget about his sunshine that went away.

hey it's the end.
Originally this was going to be a happy story but those plans changed after a few ideas. I decided I wanted it to be different, where you're still left with a few unanswered questions on what truly happened to Luke. He died, but no one knows how. Michael might've been there and sat with him every day but that wasn't going to save him. He was simply a friend Luke needed at the time, it just didn't change his decisions.
so thanks for reading and getting this to 3k reads, I really enjoyed writing this short story. <3
and thanks to Julie for helping me out with some ideas. ily.
