"𝐘𝐎𝐔'𝐑𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐆."

"How would I be doing this wrong," Katsuki's expression screwed as he tapped his keycard against the scanner more insistently. He shifted his weight between his feet and pulled his lips into a scowl as he tried it again, "Something's wrong with this damn thing. Or the fucking card. It's—"

"Or maybe, it's just you," Y/n pulled the card from his fingers— just a little thrown off by the fact he didn't react— and held it up to the scanner. Katsuki kissed his teeth, leaning against the wall as he glared daggers at the thing. Curiously, Y/n flipped the keycard, holding it up, and in a second, the side of it lit bright green and made a clicking sound, unlocking the door for them to step into the room.

Katsuki pushed himself from the wall, "You fucking—"

"I'm better than you," She teased, pulling the card away and throwing a smug look at Katsuki while she pushed into the room.

In the darkness, she reached to the side, fumbling with the light switch before the room slowly lit up.

Y/n scanned the large room, Katsuki pushing in to stand beside her, and— they both paused at what they were looking at. The room was large; there was a desk with the typical coffee and tea station, a large TV and the drawer it stood on, fine paintings that kind of looked expensive, a fridge that was quite large for one that was supposed to be 'mini' and a bed in the center of the room.

A bed. There was one bed.

Fucking. Classic.

For some reason, Y/n's mind went back to Mina's words— the enemies to lovers trope and she felt her face unwillingly burn before she slowly looked to her side to face Katsuki, who turned to her at the same time, sharing the exact same expression. Y/n, surprisingly, was the first to open her mouth and let complaints spill past her lips.

"I'm not doing this," She declared, tossing her things aside as she stepped further into the room, getting closer to the bed like she was trying to find some attachment to it. Something they could pull out and use as an extra bed. Katsuki simply rolled her eyes as he listened to her, "There's no way I'm sharing a bed with you— I don't even want to share a room with you as it is. And not to mention, you're probably a horrible sleeper—"

"I'm fucking not."

"We need to get someone else in here— share a bed with Tokoyami or something!"

"That wouldn't make any sense," Katsuki pushed her aside with a clenched jaw, "We're sharing a room in the first place because you're a quiet sleeper. Sharing a bed with Birdy is counterproductive."

"Then how about Tokoyami and I share a bed and you sleep with..." Y/n frowned.

"You're actually stupid. We already went over this— it has to be you and I in the same fucking room. IcyHot has trouble sleeping without Deku and Deku talks in his sleep like he's doing some damn lecture. Even if Deku and IcyHot were to sleep in here, we'd be stuck with Birdy and we're back at square one," Katsuki's eyes swept over the room, a low sound pulling from his throat, "Think we can request a different room or something?"

"Well. I don't think so," Y/n huffed, setting down her own luggage and belongings as she began to dig for the things she needed for the mission they would start in a few hours, "Hawks and Endeavor paid for the rooms in advance so I doubt we'd be able to get a different one now— this place is probably packed, considering it's reservation only... Do you know what time we're supposed to head down by? We're tracing while we patrol, right?"

"They'll send us the details in a bit, probably," Katsuki mumbled, leaning his head back and rubbing at his neck like he was trying to get rid of sore and tense knots in his neck.

He was strangely calm and Y/n was skeptical about that, eyes lingering on him for a solid minute before she focused on her unpacking again. She acknowledged Katsuki slowly trailing the room, looking around at the desk and the large seat in the corner of the room.

He made a sound deep in his chest, "I could sleep here," He kicked at the seat.

Y/n looked up, Katsuki turned to her and she stared at him before offering the smallest of smiles and looking back into her bag.

"No, you're sleeping in the bed with me," She mumbled, "We both need to get good rest which means being comfortable; Missions are important. We're both still sleepers— It'll be easy to stay on our sides."

Katsuki was quiet before mumbling, "Yeah."

When Y/n was finally done pulling out her necessities and things she'd probably need for nightly comfort, her phone buzzed— Hawks sent her the information for patrol. Judging by Katsuki's movements, he received his information from Endeavor.

They would be heading out in an hour, which gave them enough time to shower and get ready to head out.

Y/n sighed, gathering her needed things in her arms before rushing to the bathroom, "I'm showering first!"

Y/n truly hadn't expected Katsuki to be as calm as he was the entire time they had gotten ready. From declaring the shower first to asking him to zip her up, and then leaving the building to stand outside as they waited for the rest to show— Katsuki had been nothing but calm. And, Y/n already knew Katsuki wasn't some feral dog who barked twenty-four seven, it was a common misconception that even she had at the beginning of her third year.

He shouted when provoked or if the situation was too dumb for him to pass up insulting someone. Other than that, he kept to himself quite often and had nothing to say. The only reason she wasn't used to his behavior, is because usually, her presence was something that provoked him. Constantly. It was weird that he wasn't barking at her and insulting her way of doing literally anything every five seconds— but she supposed being forced in such a limited space with each other for a long enough time could water down the amount of irritation one felt for another in some cases.

The same thing was happening to her. Similar to Katsuki, for Y/n— the blond's face alone could have her brow twitching in irritation. But his calmness and lack of reaction had somehow rubbed off on her and there they stood, in silence.

Or, what would have almost been silence, had Katsuki not opened his mouth.

He turned to the girl to glare at her, lips thinning, "Are you fucking serious."

Y/n drew her brows as she quickly glanced around, making sure she was the one he was talking to before she folded her arms and let her gaze land back to Katsuki, "Serious about what? What's your issue with me this time?"

"You're wearing it."

Her costume, maybe? Y/n looked down at herself, "Excuse me?"

"Your perfume. The Pink Vanilla or whatever— you put it on. Why did you do that?"

There was something about his tone that made Y/n squirm. He sounded genuine; Genuinely confused, upset, like he was in disbelief. Like they had somehow 'discussed' this perfume matter before, and Y/n couldn't see what he was getting at. He stared at her, glare wasn't as hard and nasty as usual, same with his lips. They were pursed. He was searching for answers.

His brows furrowed further, "Did you do that on purpose?"

"Uh, yeah? Who accidentally puts perfume on themselves?" She took a step back, tensing at his intense gaze, "What? Why are you acting so weird about it?"

"Because you— We just—"

"—Hey guys!" Midoriya's chirp interrupted the two; He, Todoroki, and Tokoyami made it out of the Motel and it sounded like Midoriya was in the middle of explaining something to the two. He continued,

"Anyways— that's when I discovered that it's actually pretty much possible. It's really a matter of knowing the place inside out, you know? And I also have a pretty good memory so I don't really know if that helps my case, but I'm also sure anyone else could do it. So if you take the road up the 405 and then back out on 07, drive all the way up to South and took the shortcut down Scotch Lane, not minding the bumpy road—"

"You're already giving me a damn headache. Shut up."

"Anyways, I think Endeavor said we would be patrolling in pairs," Midoriya ignored Katsuki's remark and took Todoroki's hand as the group continued down the street, on the way to the agency, "But there's, like... Five of us. Maybe he'll pair the extra person with someone from his agency! I'd really like to work with Burnin' again..."

"I doubt we'd be the ones paired up with someone from the agency, should that happen," Todoroki said. "We work too well together. If anything, he'll pair Hawks' group with someone else; Tokoyami and L/n are both easy to work with and compatible with nearly everyone, especially in the aspect of cooperation and basic teamwork. Unlike Bakugou."

"Stop. Talking."

"Could you stop getting mad at anything either one of them say?" Y/n shot at Katsuki as she rolled her eyes, "You always have something to say. They're having a conversation so shut up."

"You're the one who always has something to say!" Katsuki threw back, "Why does what I do concern you so damn much? You're looking for a fucking fight."

"Maybe you guys will be paired up!" Midoriya laughed— which seized the minute he looked over his shoulder at the two; The anger of both simultaneously being directed at him. His eyes widened and he faced the front of him again, "It was a joke— I-I was just kidding, of course. That wouldn't happen. It'd be a disaster."

The universe seemed to take Midoriya's words to heart. It was unfair, how he was the favorite all the time— even when it came to things as big as fate. Y/n trailed behind Bakugou slowly, eyes narrowed at his back. His fists were clenched and he was walking more stiff and rigid than he typically did. She was tempted to ask what the matter was— but no doubt would the blond blow up in her face about it, seething about how he was "fucking fine" and she should "mind her own god damn business." Besides, asking would give off the impression that she cared.

Which she did not. He was just hindering her progress.

With a small huff, Y/n sped up in her step, pushing past the boy and walking ahead. To nobody's surprise, she was knocked to the side, not even two seconds later and Katsuki was stomping ahead of her, face tighter and scowl nastier. Y/n groaned, speeding up and pushed him to the side this time, harder than he did her.

"What the fuck is your problem?" Katsuki hissed, turning to her, teeth bared. They were still trying to trace the target so they weren't supposed to cause a scene and Y/n wondered if not causing a scene was so important, then neither Hawks nor Endeavor would have paired them together.

"What's yours?" Y/n shot back, eyes hard as she jabbed a finger at his chest, "Why are you being all weird? You're walking so slow and stiff— speed up!"

"I'm walking slow 'cause that guy could be our fucking target, you idiot—" Katsuki slapped her finger away from his chest and gestured to the guy in a trench coat ahead of the two. Y/n's eyes widened and she looked, studying the guy's appearance. His coat was black and tucked under his black hat was dark, straight, and stringy hair. His skin was extremely pale from what she could see from the hands at his side and as far as she could tell— he fit the description of the guy they were supposed to be tracing really well. It only caused her stomach to twist, though.

She'd been so focused on Katsuki that she somehow lost focus of the mission. Y/n chewed on the inside of her lip and sucked in a breath, "Well... I—"

"Shut up," Katsuki mumbled, reaching to his side to grab Y/n's wrist. He tugged her close and turned a sharp corner, leading to a dark, narrowed ally. He pressed his back against the dirty brick of the back building, leaned forward to peer around the corner and Y/n followed suit, minus the peering— she waited for Katsuki to inform her of the situation. When it didn't come, she crossed her arms with a quiet sigh.

"Bakugou," She whispered, pressing closer so he could hear her better, "Is that the guy? What's the move and should we call for backup?"

"Shut up! 'M reading lips," Katsuki once again hissed the words through clenched teeth, "He's talkin' to some girl. Doesn't look like the setup we were told it'd be. Don't see a fucking sack or..." Katsuki's sentence trailed when turned to face Y/n, blinking slowly.

Y/n moved her head in question, "What?"

"God, fuck you." Katsuki growled, hand letting go of Y/n's wrist, which was something she hadn't even been aware of, and pushed past her, "Fuck you— you're the most irritating person I've ever fucking met."

Y/n was frozen solid in her position for a good minute before she forced herself back into reality. She blinked a few hundred times, violently shook her head, and looked from the sharp corner they were supposed to be taking, to where Katsuki had stomped off to— a completely opposite direction.

"I— what the hell." She pushed from the brick and hurried after the blond, placing a hand on his shoulder— he was quick to slap it away with a small pop of a tiny explosion, "God— would you quit it already? Stop being an asshole and tell me what we're doing right now. First of all— why did we walk away from that lead? You didn't even fill me in on what was happening. Two— what did I even do to warrant those random ass words? I was just—"

"Could you stop talking for two fucking seconds? I'm gonna jump in front of a damn bus if you keep bitching about nothing in my ear!" He continued speaking before Y/n could cut in with her complaints again, "That wasn't our guy, you dumbass. The little shit was meeting with some prostitute or something, I dunno. Second: the fact that you're breathing is enough to get on my damn nerves. You being alive warrants my words."

"Will you really jump in front of a bus if I keep bitching?" Y/n asked, glaring over into the street as they turned onto the main sidewalk, "How much bitching do I need to do for you to jump in front of one? You'll keep your promise, won't you? Please jump in front of a bus."

It wasn't long before they both got an alert that their shift was over— Tokoyami and a sidekick from Endeavor's Agency found the first lead to progress the mission, and Y/n could be comfortable with the fact that Katsuki had been right about what he'd seen back in the alley.

Neither Katsuki nor Y/n had spoken another word to each other as they turned off their phones and started on their way back to the hotel.
