Chapter 1
Your eyes sparkle like the stars in the dark blue sky. They have an alluring trait to them. It's as if I can bring myself to look away. Every day, no, every second I spend with you isn't enough. I want to be by your side forever.
But, we both know that isn't possible.
When you told me about how you had to leave, it felt as if the world had crumbled. Even though you reassured me that you would come back, I couldn't help myself from crying. I missed you.
So, right now, I'm so glad your back.
___
Earlier that year...
"David!" I opened the door to find him playing a game on his computer. I ran up to him and engulfed him in a tight hug. It's been a year since we've started dating and I've now grown out of my shell, thanks to my wonderful boyfriend. "Why are you so hyper today?" He asked as he paused the game and fixed his ash blonde hair. "Do you not know?!" I pretended to be offended but, honestly, I expected this.
"No? Don't tell me it's our anniversary and I forgot!?" He began to freak out. "No, no, no. We're going camping with the others. It's the meteor shower tonight! I thought for sure you would remember!"
"That's tonight?!... Oh, wait, yeah it's Friday. I keep thinking today is Thursday. That's probably why." He laughed and got up from his chair. "You should probably pack. We're supposed to meet them in an hour." I sigh at how slowly David gets his stuff together.
"Yeah, don't worry. I can get all my stuff together in no time!"

"David, we're ten minutes late! Hurry up!" I yell from the bottom of the stairs. "I'm sorry!" He hastily grabbed his bags and went down the stairs, almost falling twice, and ran out the door as I followed.
"What took you guys so long?!" Cody asked as we walked to the campsite. "Sorry Cody, I forgot this was today." I could hear David sigh. "I-it's fine... Just please don't leave me with these two idiots again." He said pointing to Eric and Felix, who were clinging onto each other.
"If anything, you're the idiot, Cody!" Felix exclaimed loudly before turning back to Eric to continue their conversation from before. "Why did I agree to come to this? I'm basically a fifth wheel!"
David and I chuckled at the statement. "We asked you to come because we love you Cody!" David then ran up to Cody and gave him a back hug. I slightly glared at the two. "Oh.. sorry." David quickly apologized and gave me a peck on the cheek. I blushed lightly and hid my face with my sweater paws. "Stop, I'm gonna die from cuteness." David cooed.

We sat around the campfire as the night began to come upon us. I sat with my arms wrapped around Tobias to keep him warm.
"Hey, we should tell scary stories!" Eric suggested. "Like you guys can actually scare me." Felix confidently answered only for Cody to clap loudly, resulting in Felix jumping closer to Eric. "I just did." Cody said with a blank face.
Tobias and I must be sharing the same brain cell because he asked the question that was on my mind this whole trip so far. "Cody, why did you come with us?"
With this sudden question, the atmosphere turned cold. "Do you not want me here?" He asked as he pulled his eyes away from us. "No, no. That's not it. It just doesn't seem like you're having fun with us..." Tobias explained about how he had seen Cody lagging behind and not laughing at our jokes or trying to engage in conversation.
"It's not that I didn't want to come... It's just that I have a lot of things on my mind right now and I'm not comfortable with sharing them." He sighed and played with the hem of his hoodie. "I kinda just wished that Remi could've come along with us. Too bad he's on vacation... I just... I feel like a fifth wheel. Eric and Felix get along well enough and obviously you guys are together. That mixed with some personal issues are just taking a toll on me but, it's fine. I'll be alright. Let's just enjoy our night."
I nodded, understanding where Cody was coming from. "If you say everything is alright, I'll believe you. Just remember that if something is bothering you, you can always tell us. Remember when you told us earlier this year that you felt left out? It was when Tobias and I started dating. We wouldn't have known any better if you hadn't because we can't read your thoughts. So, try to open up to us more, ok?" I let out a sigh as our night continues.
The fire crackles while I have my arms wrapped around my boyfriend and I couldn't be happier as I spend my time with my favorite people.
Too bad it didn't last long...
My phone rings as we're in the middle of telling stories and I excuse myself as I step away from the campfire.
"Hello?" I pick up as I look at the caller ID. "Hey, David. I know this is sudden but when you get home you have to pack." My breathing stops for a split second before I regain my composure. "What are you talking about, mom?"
"I'll explain everything when you get back, ok? It's a long story I just wanted to tell you this now so when you see us packing your stuff you wouldn't freak out." She says that as if I'm not freaking out now.
"What?! Wait, you can't just hang up without telling me what's going on!" I whisper shout so then my friends can't hear.
"David, seriously, stop panicking. It'll be alright."
"Just tell me, please!" This time I make no effort into trying to whisper. I can hear my friends coming closer to where I am. "You're going to be living in America for a year." I hear her say the news so casually, it begins to mess with my head.
"What?!"
