Today we interview shiteutea, winner of The Sunflower Awards 3.0 in the Fanfiction genre. Join us as we learn more about their writing style and inspiration.
🌻
1. What inspired you to write The Guardian's Gift?
I was inspired by my own religion, Islam. Islam teaches us to have a deep, intense, and strong connection with God.
2. What do you like about writing fanfiction?
The face claims and fanbase. It helps me to describe the appearance of my characters since I only have to describe a real face. Also, real-life face claims give me a stronger impression of how my characters should act, think, or feel. Since fanfictions already have an established fanbase, it is easier to gain more readers from writing them.
3. How did you feel when you found out you won in your genre for the Sunflower Awards?
I was so happy and surprised! Since I was competing against fourteen other amazing stories. Never thought I was going to win!
4. Do you have any advice for other writers?
My advice is to always read, learn, and write. Don't give up if you're criticized, get back on your feet and improve yourself. Treasure your readers and value them, try giving them something that's worth their time.
5. Who is your favorite character in your story and why?
Jisoo, because I've spent the most time writing and developing her character.
6. What does your writing process look like?
I wrote everything on my phone so I could bring it anywhere and anytime with me. I would only need the right amount of time and feeling to continue until my story was finished.
7. Where is your favorite place to write?
My bedroom, because it's the most comfortable place where I can fully concentrate.
8. When did you start writing and why did you start?
I've been writing since 2006 when I was 11. I've found out that I could communicate and express myself better in written words. At that time, I had a lot of imagination and ideas running through my head. All I could think about was to pour out said imagination for many people to envision.
9. What inspires you to write?
Movies, dramas, and novels with a great plot. Then I thought, how about if I make my own?
10. What is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book until now will be Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. It's a simple, yet effective and intriguing book. Somehow I can relate to it, too.
