What made you decide to write "The Princess Without a Crown"? Did you have any sort of inspiration?
I first decided to write "The Princess Without a Crown" years ago when The Originals came out and I couldn't help but think how amazing would it be to see what Hope would be like as an adult with the shared temper and skills as her parents.
Why did you decide on fanfiction as the genre? What do you like about the genre?
I've always loved fanfiction as a form of escapism with characters I already know and love. I love writing fanfiction because it gives me the chance to explore familiar characters through different scenarios I conjure in my own head.
Did you experience any setbacks or obstacles while writing "The Princess Without a Crown"? If so, what were they?
I think every writer experiences setbacks and I'm certainly one of them! I recently received my college degree and the time taken has kept me from writing as often as I'd like. This, of course, mixed with my own doubts of my writing capabilities I'm sure every writer experiences.
Do you have a favorite scene from "The Princess Without a Crown"? If so, what is it? No spoilers!
One of my favorite scenes to write is where Hope truly fends for herself in a warehouse on the outskirts of Beacon Hills. It was enjoyable to write because it felt so fast-paced, but I also felt it let the character move forward with her quest to be her own hero.
How did you feel when you found out you won?
Absolute complete shock. I thought I was misreading the winners page. It gave me a definite confident boost!
What's your writing process?
I kind of "Jack Sparrow" it; there are times I don't make a plan and don't do edits, I just write for the sake of writing and submit to contests for the chance to be seen and heard. I find many times if I write without a plan that's when I feel the most creative.
Are you looking to get published some day?
I would love to be published someday and eventually I hope to make that a reality.
What made you start writing?
I've been writing since before the third grade. I remember specifically writing a short story about a seahorse entering a beauty pageant (creative right?). I also remember my 3rd grade teacher telling me it was too long when I'd written ten pages, something I was so proud of myself for. The moment she told me it was too long, that I needed to stop writing it, was the moment I decided to continue to write just because I wanted to.
What's your favorite book (on or off Wattpad) and why?
My favorite book series as of right now is "From Blood and Ash" by Jennifer L. Armentrout. These books hold a special place in my heart for its fierce characters who fight for freedom no matter the cost.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
My advice would be to keep writing. Not because someone tells you to or because you desire to publish a book, but because you want to. If you don't make it a chore, then every hour you spend in the story will be worth the headaches and eyestrain.
