Today we interview emmaeverafter, winner of The Sunflower Awards 3.0 in Mystery/Thriller genre. Join us as we learn more about their writing style and inspiration.

1. What inspired you to write 'Guided'? 

I was inspired by being part of Girlguiding UK and not being able to attend meetings and camps during COVID - I got the idea for a murder mystery themed novel a few years ago, and picked it up again in 2020! 

2. What do you like about writing Mystery/Thriller genre? 

I think it's exciting to see how your audience reacts to cliffhangers and twists... especially on Wattpad! 

3. How did you feel when you found out you won in your genre for the Sunflower Awards? 

I was really pleased - I love the community, so it's such an honour!

4. Who is your favorite character in your story and why? 

I love all of my characters, but I definitely have a soft spot for Lexie... and maybe little Lucy. They're just so loveable and I feel like they accurately portray girls of that age! 

5. What were the major challenges you faced while writing this story and how did you overcome them? 

I took a month break to write a Christmas novella, so it was hard to get back into writing Guided... but once I did, I wrote the second half really quickly!

6. What does your writing process look like? 

 I write in bed and always write a few chapters ahead of what I publish, just in case I have a busy week and can't find time to write new chapters. Publishing chapters as I write also motivates me! 

7. Do you have any advice for other writers? 

Just keep going, even if your writing is awful! We all start out bad, but it takes effort, time and lots of practise to become a good author.

8. Who is your favorite author and why? 

I love the works of British authors... Cat Clarke, Cathy Cassidy, Daphne du Maurier, Sara Barnard!

9. Where is your favorite place to write? 

I write in bed - it's comfy and convenient!

10. What do you like the most about Wattpad?

I love the community and comments - it's so fun to see how people react to your story as they read it, so comments always mean the world to me! I have a little community of readers I'm so grateful for :)
