Our Mission

Hello and welcome to Sunflower Contests! The Sunflower Community's purpose is to help all our members blossom into the best writers they can be. Here at Sunflower Contests, we're all about inspiring you! We provide prompts and prizes for our winners to help bolster your writing and engagement. All applicants are welcome, you do not need to be a Sunflower Community member to join in. :)

How It Works

At the start of each month we will post a new contest prompt. You will have three weeks to submit your entry. The admins will then judge the entries and announce a winner at the end of the month. The winner will then receive their prizes. Simple enough!

What You'll Get

Inspiration - Each month you'll get a new writing prompt to help inspire you to write a short story. Hopefully this will help fight off writer's block and keep you practicing your writing craft!

Prizes! - The winner each month gets a set of prizes that include reviews on some of their chapters, an interview with Sunflower Interviews, and other great things!

Friends - It is not required, but some contestants will often read each other's works and form friendships throughout the separate contests.

Other Sunflower Community Projects

If you're interested in a book club with weekly assignments, you can practice your reviewing skills with Sunflower Book Club. They have the same writing requirements as the Book Exchange without the emphasis on detailed feedback if you feel that's not something you're ready for.

If you feel that you're ready to commit to a book club with weekly assignments but more critique, check out Sunflower Writing Circle. This project is very similar to Sunflower Book Club, but you're expected to give and receive much more detailed feedback.

If you're looking for more freedom but still want to read others' stories and have your own story read, check out our Sunflower Book Exchange. There you can exchange chapters with other members at your own pace!
