Prolouge: Right After the Wedding

Yuuhime's head pounded as she sat up, groaning. What did she do last night?

Oh, wait.

She sat up, her face red. She was married now!!

"Good morning, beautiful," Xuan said, laying right next to her, "how did you sleep?"

"G-good." She replied, smiling at him. "But my head hurts so bad..."

"That's because somebody had the bright idea to bring wine," he sighed, shaking his head, "I'm pretty sure it was Yun Chuan."

"Oh...did I drink a lot?" She whispered.

"No, not at all!"

"Then why do I have a hangover...?"

"You don't seem the type to drink a lot, but I can't make assumptions."

"Well, you're right. I hardly drink at all. I just got excited last night."

Xuan gave Yuuhime a pat on her head, a soft smile on his face. "I'll take good care of you today, don't worry."

She blushed, smiling up at him as he got up.

"Can you make pancakes for me?" She sweetly asked. Xuan nodded.

"Of course I can, my Yuuhime."

***

"How the hell do you make pancakes??!!" Xuan whisper-screamed into the communicator. He had perfected his chicken noodle soup, and his desserts, especially cookies and he hoped ice cream soon too. He was getting the hang of steak, but he never thought about making pancakes before.

It would have been easy if he had a mix, but he didn't and he was NOT leaving his wife today.

Wife.

The title gave him the jitters. He smiled and finally decided on a recipe.

"Alright, this should make eight pancakes." He said aloud, gathering all the ingredients. "I'll split it to make four, two for me and two for her."

He swiftly poured the flour and other "dry" ingredients into a bowl, mixing until it was satisfied. Next, he poured the right amount of liquids into the bowl and mixed. He heard the stove alert him that it was hot enough for cooking, so he poured the ready mixture onto the pan he had prepared and watched the fluffy pancake like a hawk.

"The recipe said to cook it for about 10 minutes or until golden crispy," Xuan said to himself, "then I'll flip it."

The pan had enough room for two pancakes. Watching them was the easy part.

He never knew flipping something could be so challenging!

"Grrr..." he growled as he messily flipped the pancake over. "You will be perfect for Yuuhime!"

The pancake sizzled in response, bubbling and gurgling as it cooked.

Finally, it was ready. He decided these ones would be for him. The nice and hot ones would be for his Yuuhime.

This time, he flipped them easier. They were still messy, but not as messy as his.

"Let's see..." he searched his fridge, grabbing out whatever sweets were inside. Whipped cream, strawberries, blueberries, and as a treat, a scoop of matcha ice cream.

Perfect! Now all he needed was a tasty drink. Unfortunately, all the juice had ran out, as did the milk and only a few sodas that Yuuhime wouldn't want remained.

"Come on!" He snapped. "This breakfast has to be perfect!"

He huffed as he turned to his pantry. Maybe he had some water sweeteners.

Peering in, he found a few. Lemonade, too simple, fruit punch, too sweet, root beer, too strange...

Aha! He grinned as he pulled out a strawberry kiwi flavor. It was perfect!

He poured a glass of cold water and poured the packet in, mixing it around with a spoon.

Finally! Her breakfast was ready.

"Yuuhime, your breakfast is rea-"

As he walked in, he yelled as he tripped over something. He caught the drink with one hand, the plate of pancakes in the other. The ice cream fell on his head. Yuuhime shot up and stared.

"Are you ok?" She asked, dazed.

"...yeah." Xuan said, embarrassed. "I'll get you some new ice cream."

"Ice cream for breakfast?" She said, giggling. "You don't need to do that for me."

"Why, of course I do. But for now, just eat this."

He held out the now very messy pancakes. Some fruit fell off, but it remained largely in tact despite its leaning.

"Before you do that...go wash yourself. You have ice cream on your head!"

"Ack!"

Xuan walked out of the bathroom, rubbing his wet hair with a towel. Yuuhime was no where to be seen in his room, but her dirty dishes were. Sighing, he picked up the dishes and walked into his kitchen.

"How was your bath?" Yuuhime asked from the counter. She was decorating his pancakes.

"Fine, I suppose. What are you doing?"

"I'm-" her face suddenly turned scarlet. Xuan tilted his head.

"Don't look yet!" She commanded, covering the pancakes. He huffed but obeyed, leaving to hang his towel up.

"Whew..." Yuuhime mumbled as she peered down at the pancakes. She had wrote "happy first day married" in chocolate and now was drawing hearts with the remaining chocolate.

Once Xuan returned, she had positioned the pancakes in a way that ensured he would see the message.

"Aww!" He cooed, smiling down at the message. "This is adorable, Yuuhime!"

"I love you, Sunflower." She said, nuzzling his neck.

He chuckled, patting her hair. "I love you too, Yuuhime."

"So, what are you guys doing for your honeymoon?" Leora asked. The two of them looked at the other.

"Uhm," Xuan said, "We're not sure yet."

"You're not sure? Well, your off days won't last forever."

"We know," Yuuhime sighed, "but we want it to be special and meaningful for both of us."

"Maybe the first place you met—w-well, maybe not..."

They met under less than ideal circumstances. Xuan was on a mission to prevent a murder, and Yuuhime was still under the control of Kokuzan. She had caused some problems for Xuan and Tevor, but in the end it all worked out. Majority of the Esper Union knew this.

But, a cruise itself didn't sound all that bad.

"Maybe you're onto something." Xuan said, smiling.

"A cruise could be relaxing," Yuuhime added, "I think it would be great."

"Me too!" He wrapped his arms around Yuuhime, smiling. "Thanks, Leora!"

"Uhh...you're welcome!!"

***

Finding tickets was fairly easy. The cruise was to leave in two days! How they got the tickets, they chalked it up to luck.

"We'll need clothes for five days," Xuan said, making a list on his communicator, "I'd say two pajamas, a swimsuit, underwear..."

"I'll start packing our hygiene stuff." Yuuhime said as she went into their bathroom. Between the two of them, they needed a lot of hair product. She also used quite a bit of make up herself, and being the Union poster boy, Xuan put some on too. She had gotten the cutest bathroom bag from Li Guang at her wedding party, waterproof and sturdy but still stylish. It would be perfect!

"Hey, Yuuhime," Xuan called, "when you're done in there, we can look at the places we're gonna stop at!"

"Ok, Sunflower!" She called. She placed a final shampoo into the bag before looking at herself in the mirror.

She heard many marriages went sour after the honeymoon. Yamato would often go after rich and heartbroken people, claiming "so many marriages end after the honeymoon, making the perfect targets. But...Don't let yourself fall into that trap, dear sister!"

But that wouldn't happen between her and Xuan, right? They had already been through so much together, and their bond only strengthened. They wouldn't fall out of love!

Right?

She shook her head and quickly headed out. She saw Xuan patiently awaiting her, smiling at the sight of her. His laptop was in front of him.

"We're going to go on at Estero Harbor, since you do like it there a lot." He said.

"I do," she said, smiling. "You're so sweet to think of that!"

"I'm just making this perfect for you. This is our honeymoon, after all!"

"It's also yours, don't forget that."

"Don't worry, I won't! I wouldn't care where we got on at, though."

"Ah. What else are we doing?"

"We're gonna to go most of the prominent ports, the first one being Graywater's and so on."

"Ah, what about on the ship?"

"There's a few shows, there's the swimming pool, oh, and we're passing somewhere with a lot of whales so we can look at them! You can look at all the stuff there is to do."

He held out the laptop for her her look herself. She was shocked to find that the ship wasn't all that big. She didn't care about the size of cruises (all that mattered to her was being with Xuan) but she didn't know cruise ships were made that small.

"Well?" Xuan asked.

"I think whatever you want to do." Yuuhime said, smiling. "I can't decide!"

Xuan blinked then giggled.

"I was hoping that you'd like to swim most of the time?"

"I haven't swam in ages. That sounds perfect!"

"So it's decided!" Xuan sat up, smiling. "We need two swimsuits!"

"Huh? Why?"

"If we're gonna swim most of the time, it's smart to have two just in case."

"I only have one swimsuit..."

"Then I'll buy you one, specially."

"Specially? A-alright!"

He smiles widely and gave her cheek a big kiss.

"I'm so happy we're able to do this," he whispered, "and I'm even more happy to do it with you."

She blushed and smiled, giving him a kiss back.

"I'm happy, too, Sunflower!"
