Chapter 2: Peeping Tom

The waves splashed against the boat, rocking it slightly back and fourth. The pool waved as well, gentle for the two lovers who came walking over.

"No one's here!" Xuan said as he claimed a couch. Yuuhime smiled as she grabbed a complimentary pool donut and jumped in.

"Are those fairy lights?" Yuuhime asked, pointing at the tiny lights that lined the pool on the umbrellas.

"Yeah." Xuan said, sticking his feet into the pool. "Pretty, aren't they?"

Yuuhime nodded as she swam around in the pool, admiring the faint lights.

The sunset was almost over, and yet Xuan watched it with shimmering eyes. He loved them—nothing was better than a good sunset.

"You're smiling at the sky again," Yuuhime said, a grin creeping on her face.

"Yeah," Xuan turned his attention to her, "it just gets prettier every time I see it."

There was no one and nothing prettier than Yuuhime, though. At least, that's what Xuan thought. She could hate him and he'd probably love her the same, he thought.

Not like that would happen, though.

"Get in here, Sunflower!" She cooed, pulling his hands. Chuckling, he tied his hair up and splashed in.

"It's nice and cool," he noticed, turning around in the water, "I hope it's like this every night."

"Yeah." Yuuhime murmured as she began to play with the water itself, squirting it with her fingers.

"Woah, how'd you do that?"

"Do what?"

"That-" Xuan immigrated her, making a cow milking hand gesture in the water to no results. "-thing!"

She blinked before bursting out laughing. "It's easier with two hands."

She went closer and, clasping her hands together, squirted water out of her hands. Xuan again tried to imitate, but was still confused.

"Here," she took his hands and began molding them, "like this."

He watched closely, and when she told him to squeeze his hands, he watched in amazement as water came out in like a water gun.

"Wow!" He laughed, doing it again and again. Yuuhime giggled and squirted his face.

"Ack! That kinda hurt!"

"Hehe."

Xuan smirked and gave her a piece of the pie. She yelped as her face was drenched.

"Hmph!" She turned away. "Now I won't teach you the best one yet."

"Eh?! What is it!" He asked. When she didn't respond, he went to grab her shoulder when she sent a huge wave into his face.

"Just kidding!" She laughed. "The best one is the big one you do like this!"

She splashed him again, but this time, he retaliated and gave her a big splash.

The two of them splashed around for what seemed like ages, until a voice stated yelling.

"Excuse me!" They stopped and looked up. A woman with braids in stood over them with an awkward smile.

"Hi, hello, can you stop doing that?" The worker asked.

"Oh, yeah," Xuan said, "sorry."

"Oh, no, don't be! The rule board is very old and faded, but you can't splash the ground. It's a safety hazard."

"We understand," he bowed his head, "and we apologize."

Yuuhime copied him, and the woman smiled a little more.

"Thank you for your cooperation! Have a nice rest of your day."

And with that, she walked away.

"It's getting late," Xuan said, "we should dry off and go to bed soon."

Yuuhime responded with a yawn and a nod.

They both got out and snuggled onto the couch, near a lit fire pit.

"This must of been what that worker had come  up to do." Xuan said.

"It's nice and warm..." Yuuhime sighed, a smile on her face. She snuggled closer to Xuan, smiling up at her husband.

Oh.

Oh.

It sorta finally clicked, like a puzzle piece that stubbornly wouldn't fit finally finding its place. She gasped lightly and snuggled deeper into Xuan's shoulder.

"You're my husband!" She whispered. Xuan smiled brightly and nodded.

"Yeah." He whispered back, rubbing her shoulder. "And you're my wife."

"Ohhh..." she whispered. "...does that mean you'll stop cooking for me?"

Xuan snorted. "Of course not."

"Good, because I'm nowhere near as good as you."

"You could be. There's a food market in Graywater where we can get some cool ingredients. You could take the lead there."

"Really?"

"Of course, I'll make some strong suggestions."

"Like what, hm?"

"Like no spicy stuff! It's too much for me."

"What's next, no sugar?"

"No way! Get all the sugar you want!"

She giggled, then looked at the fire. Staring at it, she thought of something.

"No one else came out," she said. "I wonder why?"

"Maybe everyone else was just tired?" Xuan tried, but that seemed unlikely to Yuuhime.

"Do you think the reason that you were able to get tickets was because no one else booked this cruise?"

"I highly doubt that, with a crew as responsive as this. There's got to be someone else."

"Maybe..." Yuuhime let out a loud yawn.

"We can worry about that tomorrow," He said as he picked her up, "now, it's time for bed."

"Thank you, for taking me on this trip," Yuuhime said as he began to walk.

"Of course, this is our honeymoon after all."

She smiled and snuggled into him as he carried her back into the room hallway.

'OH. MY. STARS!' The worker thought as she peeked around a corner. Her name was Uday, and the cruise, the Blue Minnow, was owned by the Shadow Decree.

Well, sorta. It was a lot of jumbo Uday didn't bother to try and understand. All she knew was that she was working on a boat with the CUTEST. COUPLE. EVER!

She did knew that the cruise was created to lure people in as test subjects, and they had gathered most of the passengers already. Apparently those two were "Esper Union rats" or something, but all she saw was a cute couple!

"What are you doing?" Uday yelped as Bai Liuli  seemed to appear out of thin air from behind her.

"I-I was just doing the firepits!" Uday said, raising her hands in defense.

"Uh huh, and gawking at the two Union rats?"

"It's not what it looks like!" Uday whimpered. "It's just that they look so cute together!"

"Is that so?"

"Hmph! Whatever, I think I can ship them."

"Haha, this is why I love you. Just don't get too invested."

Liuli gave her a pat on the back before leaving to do her work. Uday went to follow before glancing back.

A peek at the cutie ops chiefs wouldn't hurt, right?

Uday crept to a staircase, climbing up quietly to the captain's cabin. Inside the cabin, was a camera for every room. Most of the cameras were empty rooms, some shut completely off for the Shadow Guards to have their privacy, so the one she was looking for was easy.

'Finally, some entertainment.' She thought to herself as she connected the camera to her communicator. She was NOT risking herself over something like this.

She snuck out and made her way to her room, snuggling down to watch her little "movie."

First putting Yuuhime down, Xuan went to his suitcase.

"I'm gonna go get changed, alright?" He said, walking to the bathroom. Yuuhime nodded a little and wrapped herself in a cardigan she brought. It was blue, like the ocean, and speckles of gold adorned the yarn it was made off.

Coming back in, Xuan laid down on the bed and yawned. Yuuhime slowly wiggled onto his chest, resting her ear to it and listening to his heartbeat.

Thump...thump...thump...

She ran her hands slowly across his body, warm to the touch and a perfect contrast to her cold hands. She made it all the way to his waist before he began to squirm, making a squeak as soon has her hands made it to the lower half of it.

"Pfft-what was that?"

Xuan's face became scarlet, grabbing her waist and rubbing it too. She tilted her head at him, confused by what he could possibly be trying to do.

"Does that not bother you?" He asked finally.

"No, why would it?" Yuuhime suddenly gasped and sat up, wiggling her fingers. "Are you ticklish there?"

"Eek!" He retreated his hands around his waist. "Don't tickle me!"

She laughed and lightly grabbed his cheeks with her hands, caressing them. "Don't worry, I won't."

He smiled, closing his eyes and leaning into her hands.

"You know, your hands are freezing." He said.

"Really?" She pulled her hands away.

"It doesn't bother me. It's actually nice..." he pulled her hands back to her cheeks, which she would have done herself anyways.

"What's it like being so hot?"

"You tell me, sexy. Rawr~"

Yuuhime's face flushed, shaking her head.

"I-I meant your body! It's so warm, like a fresh baked cookie or the beach sand. How do you stand to be in that huge jacket all day?"

"I guess I've kinda tuned it out over the years. It's not even that bad in the desert, that's the only place I take my jacket off for. What about you? You're so cold, what's that like?"

"I hadn't thought about it either. I guess I like to snuggle up in blankets even when it's hot, and you'd probably think the winter is torture but it really isn't."

"Huh." Xuan felt her cheeks, his warmth radiating all across her face. "Yuuhime?"

"Yes?"

"Can I kiss you goodnight?"

"Y-yeah."

He sat up and gently let his lips press onto her's, the chlorine still slightly present from their trip to the pool.

"You better change into something more comfy." He said as he laid back down and closed his eyes.

"Whatcha watching?" Xie Yuzhi popped up beside Uday, who screamed and covered the screen.

"How long were you there!" She shouted.

"Just got there," Liuli said as she walked in, "don't worry."

Uday sighed and got up. "This is my room, please leave!"

"Just trying to stop Xie Yuzhi." Liuli smiled as she grabbed Yuzhi by the belt and showed him out.

"Y-you can stay, Bai Liuli." Uday said quickly.

"It's fine, I've got other things to do." She smirked a little. "As do you, missy."

"Hey! I'm getting work done, I just needed a break. You're not working either."

Liuli chuckled and nodded. "I'm not, you're right. How about we watch the stars before we have to really work tomorrow?"

"That's right, the stars are especially beautiful over the ocean!" Uday quickly went beside Liuli and took her arm. "Alright, let's do it!"
