Growing up, Stephone had severe depression. Her mother always tried to help, but no matter what she did nothing helped. She gets really depressed almost all the time, over about small little things. Including comparing herself to others. She will get depressed and completely close herself off from others. She won't talk, eat or anything. And people can try and talk to her. But it never works with her. Hence why she was always in the hospital every so often, which was many many times.
