45.

Namjoon yawned and tried to roll onto his side, feeling the muscles in his back go numb. The light weight on his chest stopped him and he opened his eyes, looking down.

Arie was lying on her stomach, half on top of him, one leg over his and her heel under his knee, one hand resting on his chest and the other on his shoulder, under her cheek.

She looked so relaxed and somehow fresher, her eyelashes fluttering in sleep, her cheeks slightly flushed and she bit her lower lip.

He hadn't seen any color in her face since they had arrived at the cottage. He tried to reach for his phone to see what time it was, it was dark outside, but he felt rested, which meant the two of them had been asleep for hours.

He tried to push her away without waking her, knowing Ari needed this sleep. She could hardly sleep for more than an hour or two without having a nightmare or having a meltdown, and Namjoon didn't want him to be the reason she woke up after probably a week, if not more, of not sleeping properly.

She seemed to feel him stir and sighed, muttering something. Her fingers trembled and slid up his bare chest to his shoulder. Namjoon gritted his teeth. "Now isn't the time, bro!" he thought, feeling his body turn on from her light touch.

Arie shifted some more and Namjoon breathed a sigh of relief as she rolled onto her other side, hugging her pillow and pressing it to her chest.

"Good girl" he smiled and stood up, stretching his body. He looked at his phone. June 5, 4:26 am. Eight days? He turned and looked at Ari again, she was still sleeping soundly.

She had been in this state for almost two weeks, eight days since he had brought her to Yoongi's forest lodge. Eight days in which he fought for the woman he loves, trying to get her back to the sunny girl he fell in love with.

"Maybe today she would be better, calmer" Namjoon thought hopefully and sighed. He put his phone down and walked towards the kitchen, actually, he just went behind the counter opposite the bed because the lodge was one room, plus a small combined bathroom.

Opening the fridge, he pulled out bacon, eggs, tomatoes, cucumber and milk. From one of the cupboards he pulled out a ready-made pancake mix and a jar of jam, determined to make her breakfast.

He left everything on the counter, wondering what else he could add. Mrs. Jiang had prepared many things before he left, but the two of them had barely eaten because most of the time, if they weren't sleeping, Namjoon was trying to deal with Ari's crises.

Finally, Namjoon decided to just add some fruit and headed to the bathroom to freshen up before he started making breakfast.

Washing the shampoo out of his hair he rested his hands on the wall enjoying the warm water when a noise from the other room caught his attention and he quickly turned off the water, wrapped himself in a towel and entered the room expecting Ari to be awake and ready to met what awaited him.

His gaze sought her, but she continued to sleep soundly, except that she had company. "How did you get in?" he slowly walked towards the bed, tucking the towel around his waist.

A raccoon reached out from under the blanket, curiously sniffing the air, his nose twitching funny as he settled under the blanket, close to Ari.

Namjoon shook his head, smiling, hands on his chest. "That's my girl, buddy" he moved slightly closer, hoping not to startle him so he wouldn't scratch or bite Ari.

The raccoon watched him curiously, blinking its huge wet black eyes. Namjoon suddenly decided it would be fun to take some pictures or a video, slowly reaching for his phone.

"Stay there, buddy, and then I'll give you an apple before I open the door" he grinned unlocking his phone. The raccoon cocked its head funny and perked up slightly when it heard the sound of the phone, Namjoon quickly opened the camera, deciding that video would be easier.

Namjoon made a few seconds of video, then slowly backed away to the kitchen counter, reaching for an apple from the bowl above. "Come on buddy, it's time to go, my girl needs some sleep" he smiled, leaning over and showing the apple to the raccoon.

The animal obviously recognized the fruit because it got up and slowly walked towards Namjoon, carefully keeping its distance. Namjoon backed up to the door, opened it, stepped to the side, tossed the apple out, and when the slightly hesitant raccoon jumped out after her, he quietly closed it, shaking his head.

Namjoon played the video smirking, Izeul would be happy. He put the phone down on the counter and walked back to the bed, beside which was the bag of their clothes.

He dressed quickly and then set about making breakfast. He fried the bacon while he whipped up the pancake mix, then stirred the eggs into the bacon fat before taking out the pancake pan.

Namjoon looked proudly at the eggs and bacon as he poured the pancake batter into the pan, Seokjin could be proud of him. He hadn't burned or set fire to anything until now.

While he was waiting for the pancakes, he looked out the window, it was already dawning and the sunrise was painting the sky in incredible hues.

Ari shifted again, standing up and Namjoon quickly looked at her, narrowing his eyes. His body tensed and he removed the pan with the half-baked pancake, turning off the heat.

"Honey?" he walked towards her and she looked at him, her eyes widening and Ari blinking rapidly, breathing fast. "Honey, it's just me…" Namjoon began soothingly, carefully moving closer to her.

Ari didn't answer, her eyes moved to the counter behind him and he glanced over there as well before looking back at her. She started sniffing the air, just like the raccoon earlier.

"Are you hungry, my love?" Namjoon asked quietly, careful not to startle her. He didn't want to cause another crisis, Ari looked scared, but seemed to understand what she was being told.

"Come on, baby, there's…" he trailed off and took a step back as her eyes widened in horror, darkening and she put her hand over her mouth as if to keep herself from screaming, jumping off the bed and running to the door, slamming it open.

"Ari!" Namjoon ran after her. Ari stopped between two trees and bent low, starting to throw up. Namjoon walked over to her, watching her startled for a moment, then, like last time, grabbed her hair and held her down, soothingly stroking her back as she threw up.

"It's okay baby, I'm here" he whispered as she tried to fight the wrenching convulsions in her stomach. Still holding her hair, he wrapped his arms around her waist and gently caressed her stomach, trying to calm her down as much as he could.

Ari rose slightly and he grabbed her shoulders. "Let's get you cleaned up, baby…" he led her back to the cabin. She seemed ready to cooperate, but the moment her feet stepped into the hut, she froze, stretching like a string.

Turning sharply, Ari tore herself from Namjoon's arms and ran back, falling to her knees in almost the same spot. Namjoon frowned as he watched her force herself to throw up again.

"What the hell…" he didn't move, looking at her startled. Half in, half out, he turned his head toward the hut and sniffed the air as well. It smelled like bacon mixed with the sweet aroma of pancakes.

His head snapped to the vomiting Ari. "Shit!" he growled, leaning back against the door frame. "Is it possible…" he pouted slightly and ran to the counter, taking the plate of bacon.

Wasting no time, he returned to Ari, who was just getting up, swaying slightly. Without warning her, he dumped the plate of bacon under her nose. She glared at him, her eyes widening again and she fell back to her knees, starting to throw up.

Namjoon tossed the plate away from her and crouched down, holding it. "You're okay, baby, it's okay, it's gone…" Namjoon whispered, breathing fast. He knew this symptom, he had seen it before, he had experienced it with Binna, but she reacted to perfumes and flowers.

Ari relaxed into his arms, her head falling on his shoulder, breathing heavily. "You're fine, baby, everything will be fine" Namjoon gently picked her up and walked towards the lodge. He let her sit on the stairs and then went inside and leaving the door open he opened the windows to let the bacon smell out.

Too close to the door and the smell of bacon already wafting around the lodge, Ari shot up like a cork. Namjoon cursed following her. "For God's sake, is she that sensitive?" he growled, crouching next to her again.

As Ari threw up again and again, he tried to remember when her last period had been. "Come on, you idiot, remember, you know how it counts, Binna taught you..." Namjoon mentally scolded himself.

"At the end of April!" it suddenly dawned on him and he stared at her profile. She was pregnant, Ari was carrying his child! His heart pounded and his nostrils flared with excitement.
