Chapter Five
Everyone stood rooted in their places letting what was happening in front of their eyes happen without causing disturbance. The wedding being a success was only because Parvati was forcing Ragini to do everything required. Helpless and knowing whatever she says will not be accepted in front of Parvati's stubbornness, Sharmishta wiped her tears silently crying while staring at a lifeless Ragini, who looked like a robot Parvati is controlling.
'I'm sorry Ragini.' He was beyond guilty, to this point that he feels like nothing but a monstrous sinner who ruined Ragini's whole life to his liking. First he had manipulated her into helping him and now he forced her to marry him.
Dil jude bina hi tutt gaye
Moments spent with Lakshya that made her heart flutter once upon a time, flashed right before her glassy eyes.
Hath mile bina hi chhut gaye
Her unrequited love that she carried for him in her heart, caused a sudden sting, as if pain was drilling into the stone of a heart she now held.
Ki likhe ne lekh kismat ne
The Maheshwari's, Sharmishta, Lakshya and Swara were distraught by the view, sensing Ragini's displeasure with this unwanted wedding that Parvati was forcing her to accept.
Baar baar rod akhiyan
Tainu jo na vekh sakiyan
As the guests made faces while chatting and whispering with the person near them, the Pandit ordered Ragini and Sanskaar to stand up for the pehres.
Parvati held onto Ragini's shoulder and pulled her up with her strength, and Sanskaar stood up straight after.
Khole aaye aaj kudrat ne.
Deendayal and Shekhar watched the marriage happening, having neutral expressions. Ragini lifted her gazes and made eye-contact with as many people as she could, seeing how many people see her pain and her tears.
Kataan main ki ve din
Teri soth tere bin
With a heavy heart, Sanskaar took lead for the pehres, moving ahead while Parvati forced Ragini to walk behind him. Tears seeped down his eyes as he began recalling his memories with his first love, Kavita.
Main toh jiya na mara
He inhaled a deep breath and wiped his tears, lifting his head to hold it high, making eye contact with a lot of disappointed gazes.
Chan se jo tute koi sapna
Jag suna suna lage
Despite having a family of his own, he felt lonely, knowing they hate him and wished he was never a part of them. Their gold gazes were hammering into his guilty heart, making him feel like he was the worlds evil disgraceful son, nephew, brother, cousin and. . . friend.
Jag suna suna lage
Koi rahe na jab apna
She lowered her eyes while being pushed to keep up with him. Everything was slowly registering into her mind, as she started to realise what was truly happening. Her life was over, and there was nothing she could do about it, and, no one really cares.
Jag suna suna hai toh yeh kyun hota hai
She figured it out, no one really cared and this was killing her from the inside, again. Her heart had shattered multiple times, but who could she show, who could she tell, who could she go to to ask for help, who could fix her broken heart, cause everyone around her was becoming the reason behind her misery.
Jab yeh dil rota hai
Roye sisak sisak ki hawayein
She closed her eyes, thinking about something, blocking every other thought for the time being. Has anyone ever asked her what she wanted? Did anyone ever make the effort to ask her what she liked? Opening her eyes, she found herself lonely and on her own with people fading from her sight. It was just her and herself, no one else.
Jag soona lage
The wind blew, sending shivers all around her body. It felt cold and scary, she was freezing but there is no one to hug her to tell her it's okay, there was no one to wrap her around in a warm tight hug to comfort and assure her. Despite having her family, she felt lonely.
"Now the bride should come and complete the last three rounds." The pandit advised and Parvati shook her head positively and I identify following everything to the core.
Sanskaar stopped and Parvati dragged Ragini in front of Sanskaar, also bringing Ragini back from her thoughts. She cocked her head to the side and flapped her eyes at Parvati while being forced to walk around the fire, suddenly hearing her words again.
'You have my oath Ladoo, you need to marry Sanskaar.'
Her heart tightened, and she continued walking without Parvati giving her the little push from behind, surprising Parvati with her sudden cooperation. Parvati took her hands back and stopped, getting out of the way. Sanskaar watched Ragini walk on her own, creasing his forehead slightly, surprised.
Sujata swallowed her spit, lowering her watery eyes for a moment, 'Ragini, I'm sorry. I know this marriage wouldn't be the solution but forgive me for being selfish. By marrying you he would stay.' She averted her gazes from the floor towards Sanskaar, knowing that by staying silent she is ruining Ragini and Sanskaar's life, yet her selfishness of wanting her son to stay with her had overpowered.
"Ragini is such a compliant child, I feel bad that she had to be forced like this, but, unlike her shameless sister, she's now sacrificing herself for her family's happiness." A lady from the crowd uttered, intending her words to reach everyone and made eye-contact with Swara and Lakshya, rolling her eyes at them.
"Why do you feel bad? She's marrying her lover after all. Isn't that good for them? Their love will finally have a name." Rakhi remarked her response, earning glares from few ladies there, mainly Shekhar, Deendayal, Parvati, Durga Prasad, Swara, Ram Prasad, Sujata and Sanskaar.
The tiny amount of hope that interfered with Ragini's feelings was now sealed with the words Rakhi had nailed. She swallowed her spit, taking another step around the fire with Sanskaar following right behind her.
'I promise to never forgive you Sanskaar.'
'I promise to never let you be happy.'
'I promise to take away everything so precious to you just the way Lakshya was taken away from me.'
'I promise to never forgive Lakshya or Swara, or anyone who hadn't said a word for me.'
'I promise that I will never forgive anyone who overlooked what I wanted.'
'I promise to kill the old Ragini, and let the new one never be manipulated or used.'
After the rounds were completed, Ragini sat down and stared at the fire. Sanskaar took a seat next to Ragini, turning his head towards her.
"Now fill her hairline with the vermillion and tie the mangalsutra around her neck." He instructed as he forwarded the platter, in which laid the final steps of completing this marriage.
Parvati took the platter from his hands and walked to the other side so that Sanskaar could have an easy access to it without having to struggle. Ragini moved her head to the side, meeting his eyes and he pinched the vermillion between his thumb and infect finger, still unsure about her willingness to let this marriage happen.
Yeh Kis Makaam Pe
Her eyes were dull and cold, and he could sense nothing but the emptiness and voidness from her.
Mera Dil Aa Ruka Hai
He was encouraged by Parvati to continue, and took his hand towards her hairline, dropping the vermillion in between her parted hair, drawing a long length of line.
Yeh Kaisi Kashmkash Hai
Yeh Kya Majra Hai
She flapped her eyes, accepting the fact that she is no longer single while he reached out for the mangalsutra.
Yeh Kis Makaam Pe
Mera Dil Aa Ruka Hai
He was hesitant, yet had no choice to back away. He no longer could, it was too late now, he had to take responsibility for what he spread.
Yeh Kaisi Kashmkash Hai
Yeh Kya Majra Hai
Parvati placed the platter down on the floor and rushed to the other side to help Sanskaar tie it. Sanskaar leaned forward, locking his eyes with Ragini's, ready to complete the final step.
Tu Pyar Hai Tu Hi Tabahi
Tu Qaid Hai Tu Hi Rihaayi
With the help of Parvati, he managed to tie the mangalsutra around her neck. Sujata released a breath of relief. Lakshya and Swara merely stared at him in disbelief.
Tu Pyar Hai Tu Hi Tabahi
Tu Qaid Hai Tu Hi Rihaayi
Durga Prasad, Ram Prasad, Shekhar and Deendayal stayed neutral, never having the intention to object in the first place after the issue created by Rakhi which involved the tarnishing of their reputation and respect.
Sharmishta, Dida, Annapurna, Uttara, Parineeta and Adarsh were surprised, upset and in disbelief with what just happened.
"The marriage is complete, you may now take blessings of the elders."
"Now both sisters have married into the same family." Rakhi started to taunt once again, curling a small smirk over her lips, "I believe Ragini deserved better than this family, but it is what it is, she fell for the wrong guy."
"Keep your mouth shut!" Parvati cursed with twitching lips, sick and disgusted by Rakhi's non-welcoming behaviour.
Rakhi rolled her eyes and Parvati faced everyone else, joining her hands together. "Thank you for coming to the wedding and staying, this was all. Please make sure you've eaten before you leave."
The guests slowly nodded their heads at her and made a move, indirectly being told to leave right away.
Parvati faced the pandit who had stood up after packing, "thank you so much for staying behind and doing this marriage Pandit Ji."
"It's okay, I need to leave now." He responded back and folded his hand, starting to walk away.
"Come, now take blessings." Parvati softly uttered as she faced Ragini and Sanskaar, pleased and delighted that this marriage happened without any obstacles.
"We need to talk. . ." Lakshya interrupted as loud as he could, staring at Sanskaar with irritation and annoyance.

After a while, everyone were standing inside the Gadodia house, staring at Ragini and Sanskaar, ready to talk and have their questions answered.
"What happened? Why were you and Ragini together in the first place?"
Sanskaar blinked at Shekhar, already having his response ready, his response had to be ready, since it was part of the plan him and Parvati came up with.
"I was here to tell Ragini the truth and to apologise before leaving forever."
This explained why they saw Ragini crying, yet Lakshya was confused regarding one thing and wanted an answer. "Why were you hugging her?"
"A final goodbye hug, I wanted it. She was a friend to me, and I felt awfully guilty of lying and deceiving her."
Hearing his answers, Ragini was neutral but surprised to hear how he made sure her name doesn't go reach the fire they created. He had willingly taken the whole blame, like he believed he should.
"Why did you need to apologise to Ragini?" Deendayal questioned, slightly confused to see him normal and sane.
Sanskaar stayed silent for a while, mustering courage to expose himself once again, however he was interrupted by Lakshya, who started blabbering.
"I'll tell you. . ." He continued speaking, telling Deendayal and Shekhar, the only two unaware of Sanskaar's evil misdeed.
Sujata twisted her lips, clenched her fist and glared at Lakshya, allowing irritation towards him hover around her. Hearing Lakshya expose Sanskaar, Deendayal and Shekhar widened their eyes, stunned and in aghast.
Shekhar grit his teeth, "and we let this man marry our daughter? Why didn't you tell us before!"
"I'm sorry." Ram apologised instead, and this had made Sujata very angry.
"This man, is my son!" Sujata yelled, clearing her throat as she prepared her heart to defend her son with all that she had.
Amidst everyone hating on him right now, his heart was comforted for the slightest second when Sujata had stepped inside the conversation to defend him. The moments he felt lonely started to feel warm when his mother came to hold his hand.
