Chapter 1) 7-88-90: Discovery
------ Entry subject – 7-88-90 ------
Patient's powers: Under testing
Summoning number: 58008
Testing category: New World
Stage: Discovery
Progress: 3.4%
------ Notes ------
Day 9) Subject 7-88-90 seems stable despite the lack of progress and category. So far all other subjects within this matter have been violent and unstable. We decided on 7-88-90 to be discovery because of the phenomenal results. 7-88-90 has shown impeccable knowledge and battle skills. Though we are still working on defense and compassion/empathy, the tests are working well. Within no time the subject should be ready to extract DNA from so we can biologically engineer more of this species.
-----
Day 15) The subject has began to grow bird-like wings. We find this odd... we're currently trying to figure out how we can... 'fix' this.
-----
Day 19) The subject has become more hostile. When we began the testing the patient was calm, collected, and shy. Now however, the subject is ruthless. We will attempt to fix this.
-----
Day 21) We were able to calm the subject. We have began the same tests from earlier, but the subject has seemed to have lost most of the knowledge it has before. We are trying to 'retrieve' its' knowledge back.
-----
Day 28) The subject has escaped.... we are unable to summon it....

"Hey Cal! Wait up!"
"Just wait Tiff!"
--Torean City, February 20th--
I could feel my breath attempting to leave me as I neared the small park at the center of the town. I smirked as a sign which read 'Welcome to Torean City!' came into view. I sped up despite the pain and smacked my hand on it as hard as I could. I shook my hand as a stinging sensation filled it. I looked over at my friend Tiffany, formally known as Tiff, slowly walked over. She huffed out of annoyance and punched me in the shoulder the best she could.
"I almost got ya this time!" She exclaimed and I chuckled slightly.
"Yeah right! We've been playing this stupid little game for years and yet you've never caught me." I bellowed and she huffed again. Ever since we were in primary school we played a little game that went like this; during the school day we would determine the runner, once the runner is decided we wait for school to end. Once school is over the runner and the chaser meet up at the main/front door. The runner gets three seconds to get a good start and the chaser follows. The runner has to get to the middle of town before the chaser can get them. If the chaser tags the runner they switch slots and must continue like this until the runner is tagged or the runner gets to the middle of town and bangs their hand on the sign as loudly, and as hard, as they can. Aka it's basically a weirder version of tag.
"Shut up..." Tiff puffed and I chuckled and coughed. I adjusted my glasses and wiped away some sweat.
"Whew... that was.... exhausting..." I breathed out with exaggeration. Tiff rolled her eyes.
"I'm telling ya Cal. You gotta join a sport."
"No thanks." I shook my head and moved my hands which really expressed the 'no'. Now for you confused readers, yes my name is Caleb. Tiff calls me Cal as a nickname just as I call here Tiff. Now I personally don't understand how you could get confused by this b-
"Cal... yoo hoo.... you drifting off into space again?" Tiff snapped a bit which is mostly what anchored me back into 'reality'. My mindset was blank and I felt lightheaded. Conspiracies about reality filled my mind.
"Tiff... have you ever wondered if we're just the byproduct of a thirteen year old's imagination?" I said with a sense of airiness in my voice. She sighed.
"You started speaking to the reader didn't you?" She asked.
"Wha...?" I looked over at her.
"I said 'you got lost in the world again didn't you?' " She repeated(?) with slight annoyance. I shrugged not wanting to spark into something. "Well come on. I need to get some books for school at the library."
"Why? Did Mr.Fish need you to get more English textbooks again?" I tilted my head and she nodded.
"Yeah we have a thief again." She said calmly as we headed towards Main Street. Although Torean is labeled as a 'city' it's ironically a small town. We don't know why this is, but history doesn't help either.
After a while of walking and slight talking, mostly about our theories about what happened to Mr.Venison, we arrived at the library. Tiff headed to the textbook section and I just browsed the books that they'd be getting rid of soon. They get rid of books by judging damage and age. My eyes glanced at the books, ranging from outdated history to ripped beyond compare. As I was browsing I saw one with a deep crimson colored cover with beautiful black detailing. I picked it up and inspected it. I read a few pages and checked for any damage. However it was flawless. It had crisp and fresh pages as if it were made today. It read nothing of history, but it was a picture book that had some, probably fake, spells. The images were beautiful with soft colors and crisp, clean pictures of various creatures. I read on and kept inspecting it.
"Hey Cal. I got the books." Tiff said as she approached me. I nodded slightly as I saw her enter my vision. "Find something you like?" She asked kindly and I nodded once more. I walked over to checkout to show my discovery.
"Excuse me Ms.Lilac. This book doesn't have a call number and also has no impurities about it..." I told her and she looked at me with a puzzled look. I handed her the book and she opened it. She giggled a bit and looked at me.
"Very funny Caleb. Just so you know, this isn't the first time someone has given me a blank notebook and said it was a book. You did a pretty good job with the cover." She smiled gently and her laughter faded. She handed it back to me and I grabbed it.
"But it's n-" I was cut off when I opened the book. All the interesting features were now replaced with blank pages. I frantically flipped through it and looked at Ms.Lilac.
"So far you're the only one who's put in this much effort. Kids just usually hand me a spiral notebook." She giggles a bit and I stood in confusion. Tiff grabbed the shirt of my collar and started to drag me out.
"Have a good day Ms.Lilac!" She quietly yelled as she headed towards the exit.
"You two as well!" Ms.Lilac replied and out the door we went.
Tiff eventually let go of my shirt collar and we walked in silence. She knew I would've gotten in trouble by my parents if that conversation were to continue. I opened the book again and the pages were still blank.
"You're lucky that I'm here for you." She muttered slightly audibly and I nodded.
"Hey Tiff. Do your dads s-"
"Dad. Papa Greg died in the army remember?" She corrected. I nodded to assure her that I remember and cleared my throat.
"Does your dad still have that camera?" I asked. Tiff shook her head.
"No. My dads gave the camera to Joey a few months before Papa Greg was deployed." Tiff answered and I huffed.
"Joseph still the favorite?" I looked down at her and she nodded.
"Well he is older and listens better than I do...." She spoke with sincerity. We walked in silence the rest of the way. We stopped at my house and spoke our goodbyes and she continued on. I entered and my mom glared at me.
"You're late." She scolded. I nodded and listened to the lecture about why I shouldn't stay out so 'late'. Afterwards I was free to my room. Upon entering I opened the book once more and the pages were no longer blank. They looked as they did before. I flipped from page to page. It was all there. I was astonished and confused at the same time. I then skimmed carefully throughout the pages and smiled happily. I flipped around a bit and then stopped on one. I licked my lips to moisten them and read aloud.
"Entry subject seven dash, eight eight dash, nine zero."
