#16-My summer surprise

Robert's POV:

I don't even care for traffic lights anymore. The summer breeze hits me but I hold on tight and drive as fast as I could. I need to reach her before she checks in.

I finally enter the driveway of the airport. I literally throw my helmet over my bike and run as fast as my legs could carry me. I need to get to her.

It's never too late.

Common man up! Run.

I halt and look up at the flight timings. How I wish, she shouldn't have boarded yet. Like those scenes in movies where the heroine will miss the flight for the guy. Oh please Lisa. Just be there.

I check the terminal and run past the crowd like a mad man and I spot her. I see her eyes bore into mine from a distance. She stands there shocked and so does her family when they spot me.

Oh am I glad that she's still there. Thank god! Thanks grandma!

I'm just a step closer to my dream and it's becoming real. I can feel it and I love this feeling.

I put my hands on my knees and pant heavily like a dog to get my breath back. I look up at her and she's still not moved. She stays stuck to her spot. I advance and her brother Gregory smirks at me. I could feel her parents stare at me. Her aunt Mel has this cheeky smile and her brother Nelson smiles at me.

"Lisa, can I have a minute?" I finally speak and her eyes widen in shock.

"Are..you...is ..this even real?" She stutters and her brother, Gregory pushes her lightly towards me and the entire family takes a step back giving us some privacy.

"You can pinch me if you want." I chuckle lightly. I'm so thankful to God that I saw her. Everything about her is perfect. If I lost her today, I would have lost myself.

"Ouch! I didn't really mean it." I mockingly cry in pain. She laughs lightly and I'm so happy that she smiled. Because that smile is what I want to wake up to every day of my life. That smile keeps me going. It keeps me in check and the blood in my body at the right temperature.

"Lisa, before you say anything. I'm sorry I let you go."

She wants to say something but tears start rolling down her cheeks and I can't see her cry.

"Shhh...darling. I'm here. I'm right here. I'm not going to leave you now. Don't cry Lisa. I love you. I love you so much."

"Wait..what did you just say?" She asks me in confusion.

"What?" I ask her as I put a few strands of her hair behind her ears. And her beautiful face comes in view. I carefully eye her every feature.

Her porcelain skin, her cute chin, her round eyes, her eyebrows and the creases near her eyes when she smiles or when she's confused and her nose. This girl has me whipped.

"You..you just said you love me?" She asks that more of a question.

"Yes Lisa. I love you so much. Do you?" I ask her and she throws her arms over me and attacks me into a big crashing hug.

I break the hug only to meet her soft lips again. Oh man, I was dying for this all these years. The feeling that this girl in front of me gives is something to die for. As cheesy as it sounds, I love the feeling when we kiss, the fireworks and all the butterflies shit is actually true. I forget the world, just me and her.

She pushes me back lightly and smiles shyly. That blush is a serious turn on but I am a man and I can control. Besides this is an airport and I swear her father and her brothers will beat my ass if I do anything else.

"Lisa, time for the plane." Her mom calls out and she gestures them to wait.

"So?" She asks me after turning to face me.

I actually don't care whether her parents are there. I pull her closely to me so our bodies touch. I love the warmth she gives me. Her small body perfectly fits in mine.

"So?" I mock her tone.

"I'm serious Robert." She hits my arm.

"I'm serious about you too. You are the best thing that happened to me. Everything about you fascinates me Lisa. Even your flaws look perfect to me. You're an effortless piece of art."

She blushes tomato red. And she's so tempting right now but I just stop with kissing her cheeks. Her dad is sending me death glares as I can see from the corner of my eyes.

"But what about us?" She asks worriedly.

"There's always going to be an us. Because one without the other is lifeless. I know I sound like a girl. But that's the truth. I got accepted into California school of arts. I'll see you soon." I whisper the last words into her ears and she instantly smiles ear to ear.

"Really? Oh my god Robert! " she squeals.

Her brother Gregory comes to get her.

"Oh well, I guess I have to go now." She says with a small laugh.

"Bye Lisa. " I give her a hug and disappointedly let her go. But just for a while.

I watch her as she collects her bags and walks towards the check in area.

She turns around and smiles at me and she mouths I love you too!

I smile like a hopeless romantic in the middle of the airport. Oh Lisa. What would I have done if I hadn't met you?

You make me feel things I have never felt and I swear they are blatant. But a good blatant.

I don't need to escape reality anymore. I have found my reality. I found Lisa and through her I understood the world and myself.

Grandma, I love you. You were right, when you come to peace with yourself, you will understand life better.

I wipe away a few tears and watch Lisa leave.

My summer surprise!
